Mycoplasma pneumonia is a common community-acquired pneumonia （CAP） in Asia. Children suffering from M. pneumoniae tend to progress quickly and develop severe pneumonia with a poor prognosis.（1） Effective management of M. pneumoniae infections include macrolides, tetracyclines or fluoroquinolones, however, antibiotic resistance may lead to unsatisfied clinical outcome. Chinese medicine （CM） is widely used in China and some Asian countries, which have good efficacy in the treatment of M. pneumoniae, especially for severe M. Pneumonia infection.（2） It has obvious advantages in terms of fever reduction and appetite improvement. Here we report a case of a child diagnosed with severe pneumonia who received antibiotics for 20 days but with suboptimal result, however, he experienced an optimal response to CM.

Introduction Acetaminophen （APP） is one of the most common antipyretic analgesics and is generally considered as a safe drug. However, acute or accumulative overdose of it can cause liver damage, even liver failure. Here we reported a case of an 11-year-old patient with acute liver failure （ALF） induced by taking 0.25 g APP orally, who was successfully treated by integrative Chinese and Western medicine.

The fornix, which is involved in transfer of episodic memory, is an important structure of the Papez circuit between the medial diencephalon and the medial temporal lobe. Many studies using DTI have reported on injury of the fornix in patients with brain injury （Nakayama et al., 2006; Sugiyama et al., 2007; Wang et al., 2008; Chang et al., 2010）. However, only a few studies on recov- ery of an injured fornix in patients with brain injury, including traumatic brain injury and stroke, have been reported （Yeo et al., 2011; Yeo and Jang, 2013a, b）. In this study, using follow up DTT images, we reported on a patient who showed recovery of injured fornical crura following a neurosurgical operation for a brain tumor.

Bipolar disorder is associated with high rates of general medical conditions, but few cases of overlap between bipolar disorder and chronic lymphocytic infammation with pontine perivascular enhancement responsive to steroids （CLIPPERS） have been reported in the current literature. The following is a case of a 29-year-old patient with a previous major depressive episode comorbid with CLIPPERS. Following glucocorticosteroid therapy, the patient switched to mania-like presentation and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to another medical condition. So it is strongly suggested that high-dose corticosteroid pulse therapy could easily induce psychiatric disturbances for patients with previous psychiatric symptoms, and there may be potential links between bipolar disorder and CLIPPERS in the area of infammation.

Congenital cholesteatoma（CC）is a rarely seen benign tumor of the temporal bone. There are five general sites of extradural occurrence: the middle ear, external auditory meatus, mastoid, squamous portion and the petrous apex of the temporal bone. CC grows slowly and presents no symptoms at the early stage. Delayed and mis-diagnosis are common with this condition. case report A 10-year-old boy presented with a 3-month history of hearing loss on right side. There was no history of otorrhea, facial palsy, previous otological procedures or trauma. Otoscopy revealed a bulging posterosuperior quadrant in the otherwise intact right tympanic membrane （Fig.1）. Pure tone audiometry showed an average threshold of 51 dB for 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000Hz, with a 40 dB air-bone gap, suggesting a moderate conductive hearing loss（Fig.4）. CT scan of the temporal bone showed an isolated soft tissue density lesion in the middle ear（Fig.2）.

Spontaneous regression of hepatocellular carci- noma (HCC) is rare. We found spontaneousregression of HCC in a 53-year-old Chinese withliver cirrhosis. A liver mass 3cm in diameter wasrevealed by B-ultrasonography. The resected massshowed histologically complete necrosis. The nec-rotic tissue was filled with large debris from a neo-plastic tissue, regardless of no viable tumor cellswere seen among them. The postoperative coursewas uneventful, and the patient is alive and wellfor 4 years after surgery.
