The one-pot four-component reaction of benzohydrazide,acetylenedicarboxylate,aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile in ethanol with triethylamine as base catalyst afforded functionalized 1-benzamido-1,4-dihydropyridines in satisfactory *** similar conditions,picolinohydrazide or nicotinohydrazide can also be successfully utilized in the reactions to give corresponding functionalized 1,4-dihydropyridines.1H NMR data indicated that an equilibrium of cis/trans-conformations exist in 1-benzamido-1,4-dihydropyridines.

A coupled 1,4-dihydrylpyridine compound（C40H48N2O10,1） has been *** structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray *** crystal is of monoclinic system,space group P21/c with a = 8.3300（2）,b = 15.720（3）,c = 14.480（3）,β = 90.08（3）°,V = 1896.1（7） 3,Z = 2,Mr = 716.80,Dc = 1.255 g/cm3,and F（000） = *** structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares method to the final R = 0.0556 and wR = 0.1499（I 2σ（I））.There exist several supramolecular motifs in the crystal *** compound exhibits strong photoluminescence in the solid state at room temperature.

In this study, Density Functional Theory including a dispersion correction is employed to model and analyze the structural, electronic and local reactivity of the (100) surface of felodipine. The surface energy calculated at the Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) level, along with plane waves as basis set and ultrasoft pseudopotentials, shows that the (100) surface is the most stable as compared to the (010) and (110) ones. In particular, we have focused on performing a quantitative study of the reactivity of the surface by means of the Fukui function and through the HOMO and LUMO populations. Our results can be related to some applications in the pharmaceutical chemistry of this compound.
