Elimination of 1,2-dichloroethane over(Ce,Cr)_x O_2/Nb_2O_5 catalysts: synergistic performance between oxidizing ability and acidity

A series of(Ce,Cr)xO2/Nb2O5 catalysts with different(Ce,Cr)xO2 to Nb2O5 mass ratios were synthesized by the deposition-precipitation method for use in deep catalytic oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane(DCE), which is one of the typical chlorinated volatile organic compound pollutants. The textural properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, UV-Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The surface acidity and the redox properties were characterized by ammonia temperature-programmed desorption and H2 temperature-programmed reduction, respectively. The results show that the addition of a proper amount of(Ce,Cr)xO2 over Nb2O5 significantly improves the intrinsic catalytic activity towards the deep oxidation of DCE, and only a very small amount of C2H3Cl is detected as the byproduct of the oxidation process. Further study reveals the existence of an obvious synergistic effect between Nb2O5, with abundant strong acid sites, and(Ce,Cr)xO2, with strong oxidation sites, as the strong acid sites of Nb2O5 promote the adsorption and dehydrochlorination of DCE, while the strong oxidation sites of(Ce,Cr)xO2 contribute to the deep oxidation of the reactant, intermediates, and byproducts.

Overexposure to 1, 2-dichloroethane（1, 2-DCE） resultsinbrain damage, but the underlying mechanisms remain largely *** clarify whether 1,2-DCEexposuremayinduce apoptosis inbraincells, 40 NIH mice were exposed to 1, 2-DCE by inhalation for 28 days（0, 100, 350, 700 mg/m3）. To identify the apoptosis pathways specifically response to 1,2-DCE exposure, we performed apoptosis-related protein chip in human astrocyte SVG p12 after treatment with 1, 2-DCE at concentrations of 0,10, 20, and 40 mmol·L-1. To further explore the underlying mechanisms, we performed mRNA and miR-NA microarray in the brain tissues of NIH mice after 1, 2-DCE exposure. The results showed that 1,2-DCE induced apoptosis both in the brains and SVG p12 cells via mitochondrial pathway. mRNA and miRNA microarray analysis revealed that PLD1 expression were significantly lower and miRNA-182-5 p expression were significantly higher in the mice′ s brain after 1, 2-DCE exposure. In vitro studies showed that miRNA-182-5 p can induce apoptosis via mitochondrial pathway by direct targeting PLD1 in SVG p12 cells. Taken together, our findings indicate that 1, 2-DCE exposure induce dysregulation of miRNA-182-5 p, which may result in mitochondrial apoptosis by directly targeting to PLD1 both in vivo and in vitro.

Aliphatic Halogenated Hydrocarbons: Report and Analysis of Liver Injury in 60 Patients

Background and Aims:Intoxications by aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbons(AHH),used as effective solvents,are rare and may cause life-threatening liver *** with acute intoxications by AHH received an innovative ***:Analyzed were data of 60 patients intoxicated by AHH,such as dichloromethane(n=3),chloroform(n=2),carbon tetrachloride(n=12),1,2-dichloroethane(n=18),1,1,2-trichloroethane(n=2),trichloroethylene(n=2),tetrachloroethylene(n=13)or mixed AHH chemicals(n=8),who received a new treatment consisting of CO2-induced hyperventilation to accelerate toxin removal via the ***:Added to the inspiration air at a flow rate of 2-3 Liter min-1,CO2 increased the respiratory volume up to 25-30 Liter min-1,ensuring forced AHH *** CO2-induced hyperventilation therapy was commonly well tolerated by the 60 patients and lasted for 106.0±10.5 *** most cases,initially increased liver test results of aminotransferases normalized quickly under the therapy,and liver histology obtained at completion of the therapy revealed,in the majority of patients,normal findings or fatty changes,and rarely severe single cell necrosis but no confluent liver cell *** therapy,clinical outcome was unfavorable for 4/60 patients(6.7%)of the study cohort,due to single or combined risk *** included late initiation of the CO2-induced hyperventilation therapy,intentional intoxication,uptake of high amounts of AHH,concomitant ingestion of overdosed drugs,consumption of high amounts of alcohol,and history of alcohol ***:For intoxications by AHH,effective therapy approaches including forced hyperventilation to increase toxin removal via the lungs are available and require prompt initiation.

Complex and thermodynamic properties of polar liquids using time domain reflectometry

The study of complex properties in a binary mixture of 1,2-dichloroethane(DE)and n-methylformamide(NMF)polar liquids has been carried out in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 30 GHz for 11 different concentrations using time domain reflectometry technique at 283,288,293 and 298 K *** property of binary liquids indicates the type of distribution of the dielectric relaxation *** Bruggeman parameter gives the information about molecular interactions within binary polar *** parameter deals with the passing of a dipole across a potential barrier which separates the minima of energy.

Measurement and Correlation of Vapor-Liquid Equilibrium for Binary System 1,2-Epoxycyclohexane ＋ 1,2-Dlchloroethane

Vapor-liquid equilibrium data (T, x, y) of binary system 1,2-epoxycyclohexane + 1,2-dichloroethane were determined experimentally by using a modified ROSE-Williams equilibrium vaporization system at 101.33 kPa. The results show that this binary system does not have azeotropic point. The vapor-liquid equilibrium data are in thermodynamic consistency. The binary interaction parameters in the Wilson equation are presented with the correlation of vapor-liquid equilibrium data. The measurements of liquid phase composition and bubble point temperature are well represented by the Wilson equation. Values of vapor molecular fractions and activity coefficients from the Wilson equation are presented. This work provides important engineering data for the separation of 1,2-dichloroethane and 1,2-epoxycyclohexane .

1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCE) is a widely used chlorinated organic toxicant,but little is known about the reproductive disorders induced by its excessive *** reveal 1,2-DCE-induced male reproductive toxicity and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms,we exposed male NIH Swiss mice to 1,2-DCE by inhalation at 0,100,350,and 700 mg/m for 6 h/day,for 1 and 4 *** findings showed a significant decrease in body weight with increased testis/body weight ratio,reduced sperm concentration and induced malformation of spermatozoa,and vacuolar degeneration of germ cells in the seminiferous tubules of testes in mice exposed to 1,*** adenosine monophosphate(cAMP)-response element binding protein(CREB) and cAMP-response element modulator(CREM)were significantly inhibited by 1,*** is consistent with the declines in the transducer of regulated CREB activity 1(TORC1) and activator of CREM in testis(ACT),which results in the decrease in lactate dehydrogenase C(LDH-C) and testis-specific kinase 1(TESK1) in the ***,the activation of p53 and Bax with the inhibition of Bcl-2 might be the reason for the upregulation of caspase-3 in the apoptosis,as detected by TUNEL assay in the testes induced by1,***,elevated testosterone levels were found along with increased levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone,cAMP,luteinizing hormone(LH) and LH receptors in the *** findings suggest that 1,2-DCE inhibits CREM/CREB signaling cascade and subsequently induces apoptosis associated with p53 activation and mitochondrial *** also results in induced malformation of spermatozoa,reduced sperm concentration and pathological impairment of the testes.
