A mild, configurable, flexible CoNi-LDH（v）/Zn battery based on H-vacancy-induced reversible Zn2+ intercalation

Flexible Zn-based batteries have attracted increasing research interest as essential components of wearable energy storage ***,the advancement of flexible aqueous Zn-based batteries based on Co-Ni layered double hydroxide （CoNi-LDH） as the cathode material is hampered by their poor cycling stability and the corrosiveness of alkaline ***,CoNi-LDH nanosheets enriched with H vacancies (CoNi-LDH（v）) were constructed on a flexible carbon cloth （CC） substrate via electrochemical deposition and *** Zn-based battery comprising CoNi-LDH（v）@CC as the cathode exhibited highly reversible conversion reactions and stable operation in 3 M ZnSO4electrolyte （pH=4）.The battery delivered an excellent specific capacity (225 mA h g-1,0.26 mA h cm-2),acceptable cycling stability（53.9%,900 cycles）,and high discharging *** abundant H vacancies served as active sites for the reversible intercalation of Zn2+and the extravasation of NO3-generated channels and space for Zn2+transport and storage,together enabling an excellent Zn2+storage ***,a sandwich-structured solid-state CoNi-LDH（v）@CC//Zn@CC battery was fabricated and was found to exhibit a noteworthy electrochemical performance and mechanical *** a proof of concept,the unencapsulated battery powered a digital watch under various deformation conditions and operated stably for 80 ***,the flexible battery displayed outstanding customizability,maintaining an open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V even after being cut *** proposed engineering strategy contributes to the realization of textiles with truly wearable energy-storage devices.

The dominant hydride precipitates have been well demonstrated to follow two types of orientation relationships(ORs)with Ti matrix:OR1 with{0001}//{001},//and OR2 with{0001}//{111},//.Within the grains with special orientations,the complicated interactions of different hydride variants inside Ti-hydride diffusion layer are characterized in this *** OR1 hydride layer,the orientations of{1010}plane parallel to the sample surface and a-axis parallel to the normal direction prefer multiple OR1 *** orientations favorable for OR2 hydride layer are:{1013}plane parallel to sample surface corresponding to the layer with one OR2 variant dominated and c-axis parallel to the surface normal with multiple OR2 variant layer ***,{1012}extension twins and{1122}contraction twins are activated to accommodate the OR2 hydride-induced surface expansion and local misfit *** stimulation of these two twins is also orientation-dependent:{1012}and{1122}twins are observed in the grains with c-axis parallel to and deviated from the surface normal,*** further variant selection for each twin mode is performed through shear accommodation of hydride-twin pairs.

Preparation and water sorption properties of novel SiO_(2)-LiBr microcapsules for water-retaining pavement

Novel SiO_(2)-LiBr microcapsules for water-retaining pavement were prepared and firstly characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),particle size analysis,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).The water vapor sorption and desorption of the formulated microcapsules was then experimentally studied using dynamic vapor sorption(DVS),with the results fitted to three kinds of adsorption kinetics *** addition,the specific surface area(SSA)was also calculated based on BET theory;and the thermal performance was investigated by laser flash analysis(LFA).Experimental results show a change of 103%in mass of the microcapsule sample under 90%relative humidity(RH)at 30℃after water vapor *** fitting of results indicates that the adsorption process is mainly governed by the intra-particle diffusion mechanism,followed by the pseudo-first-order adsorption *** comparison with most conventional pavement materials,it is found that the SSA of the formulated microcapsules is much larger while the thermal conductivity is *** unique properties of the formulated SiO_(2)-LiBr microcapsules have significant potential to take the edge off the urban heat island effect and reduce rutting when applied to water-retaining pavement materials.

Anode-free Li-metal batteries are of significant interest to energy storage industries due to their intrinsically high ***,the accumulative Li dendrites and dead Li continuously consume active Li during *** results in a short lifetime and low Coulombic efficiency of anode-free Li-metal *** effective electrolyte additives can improve the Li deposition homogeneity and solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)stability for anode-free Li-metal ***,we reveal that introducing dual additives,composed of LiAsF6 and fluoroethylene carbonate,into a low-cost commercial carbonate electrolyte will boost the cycle life and average Coulombic efficiency of NMC‖Cu anode-free Li-metal *** NMC‖Cu anode-free Li-metal batteries with the dual additives exhibit a capacity retention of about 75%after 50 cycles,much higher than those with bare electrolytes(35%).The average Coulombic efficiency of the NMC‖Cu anode-free Li-metal batteries with additives can maintain 98.3%over 100 *** contrast,the average Coulombic efficiency without additives rapidly decline to 97%after only 50 *** situ Raman measurements reveal that the prepared dual additives facilitate denser and smoother Li morphology during Li *** dual additives significantly suppress the Li dendrite growth,enabling stable SEI formation on anode and cathode *** results provide a broad view of developing low-cost and high-effective functional electrolytes for high-energy and long-life anode-free Li-metal batteries.

Extrusion-based additive manufacturing of Mg-Zn alloy scaffolds

Investigation on the freeze-thaw damage to the jointed plain concrete pavement under different climate conditions

Freeze-thaw damage is one of the main threats to the long time performance of the concrete pavement in the cold regions. This project aims to evaluate the influence of the freeze-thaw damages on pavement distresses under different climate conditions. Based on the Long-Term Pavement Performance （LTPP） data base, the freeze-thaw damage generated by four different kinds of climate conditions are considered in this project： wet-freeze, wet-non freeze, dry- freeze and dry-non freeze. The amount of the transverse crack and the joint spalling, along with the International Roughness Index （IR/） are compared among the test sections located in these four different climate conditions. The back calculation with the Falling Weight Deflectometer （FWD） test results based on the ERES and the Estimation of Concrete Pavement Parameters （ECOPP） methods are conducted to obtain concrete slab elastic modulus and the subgrade k-value. These two parameters both decrease with service time under freeze condition. Finally, MEPDG simulation is conducted to simulate the IR/development with service year. These results showed the reasonable freeze-thaw damage development with pavement service life and under different climate conditions.

A simulation study of airborne wear particles from laboratory wheel-rail contacts

Laboratory measurements of airborne particles from sliding contacts are often performed using a tri- bometer located in a ventilation chamber. Although knowledge of particle transport behavior inside the chamber is required because it can influence the analysis of measurements, this knowledge is lacking. A numerical model was built based on the same geometry as a pin-on-disc measurement system to explain particle transport behavior inside the chamber and to determine the deviation between real amounts of generated and measured particles at the outlet. The effect of controlled flow conditions on the airflow pattern and particle transport inside the chamber was studied for different experimental conditions. Cal- culations show that a complex airflow pattern is formed by the spinning disc, and that it differs for each rotational speed. Simulation results reveal that particle transport in the chamber is governed mainly by the airflow pattern. The deposition velocity in the chamber was estimated and the possibility that part of the generated particles would remain in the chamber was studied. This led to an approximate estima- tion of particle loss rate. A comparison between experimental and simulated results with respect to the particle mass flow rate close to the outlet yields a reference factor of 0.7, which provides an indication of the difference between measured and real values.

A modified theta projection model for creep behavior of RPV steel 16MND5

During a hypothetical severe accident of light water reactors,the reactor pressure vessel(RPV) could fail due to its creep under the influence of high-temperature ***,modelling of creep behavior of the RPV is paramount to reactor safety analysis since it predicts the transition point of accident progression from in-vessel to ex-vessel *** the present study we proposed a new creep model for the classical French RPV steel 16 MND5,which is adapted from the "theta-projection model" and contains all three stages of a creep *** curves are expressed as a function of time with five model parameters θ_i(i=1-4 and m).A model parameter dataset was constructed by fitting experimental creep curves into this *** correlate the creep curves for different temperatures and stress loads,we directly interpolate the model’s parameters θ_i(i=1-4 and m) from this dataset,in contrast to the conventional "theta-projection model" which employs an extra single correlation for each θ_i(i=1-4 andm),to better accommodate all experimental curves over the wide ranges of temperature and stress *** also put a constraint on the trend of the creep strain that it would monotonically increase with temperature and stress load.A good agreement was achieved between each experimental creep curve and corresponding model’s *** widely used time-hardening and strain-hardening models were performing reasonably well in the new method.

Upgrading and dephosphorization of Western Australian iron ore using reduction roasting by adding sodium carbonate

The technology of direct reduction by adding sodium carbonate （Na2CO3） and magnetic separation was developed to treat Western Australian high phosphorus iron ore. The iron ore and reduced product were investigated by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. It is found that phosphorus exists within limonite in the form of solid solution, which cannot be removed through traditional ways. During reduction roasting, Na2CO3 reacts with gangue minerals （SiO2 and A1203）, forming aluminum silicate-containing phosphorus and damaging the ore structure, which promotes the separation between iron and phosphorus during magnetic separation. Meanwhile, Na2CO3 also improves the growth of iron grains, increasing the iron grade and iron recovery. The iron concentrate, assaying 94.12wt% Fe and 0.07wt% P at the iron recovery of 96.83% and the dephosphorization rate of 74.08%, is obtained under the optimum conditions. The final product （metal iron powder） after briquetting can be used as the burden for steelmaking by an alactrie *** furnace to rer）la,ce scrar） steel.

Adsorption and recovery of phosphate from water by amine fiber,effects of co-existing ions and column filtration

A weak-base adsorption fiber,acrylic amine fiber(AAF),was prepared for removal and recovery of phosphate from *** adsorption properties of the AAF for phosphate and effects of co-existing ions were investigated using batch and column filtration experiments,scanning electron microscope,and Fourier transform infrared *** results showed that AAF had a high phosphate adsorption capacity of 119 mg/g at pH *** effects of calcium,sulfate,carbonate,nitrate,and fluoride showed that sulfate and calcium inhibited phosphate ***,AAF showed higher binding affinity toward phosphate than *** filtration results showed that AAF could filter 1420 bed volumes of tap water containing 1.0 mg-P/L of *** saturated AAF could be regenerated using 0.5 mol/L hydrochloric acid solution and *** desorption,phosphate was recovered through precipitation of hydroxyapatite(Ca5(PO4)3OH).The easy of regeneration,good adsorption performance,and the fiber morphology of AAF make it an attractive alternative for phosphate recovery from multiple water sources.
