Spatiotemporal alterations of presynaptic elements in the retina after high intraocular pressure

A rat model of acute high intraocular pressure was established by injecting saline into the anterior chamber of the left eye. Synaptophysin expression was increased in the inner plexiform layer at 2 hours following injury, and was widely distributed in the outer plexiform layer at 3-7 days, and then decreased to the no.mal level at 14 days. This suggests that expression of this presynaptic functional protein experienced spatiotemporal alterations after elevation of intraocular pressure. There was no.significant change in the fluorescence intensity and distribution pattern for synapse-associated protein 102 following elevated intraocular pressure. Synapse-associated protein 102 immuno.eactivity was confined to the outer plexiform layer, while synaptophysin immuno.eactivity spread into the outer plexiform layer and the outer nuclear layer at 3 and 7 days following injury. These alterations in presynaptic elements were no. accompanied by changes in postsynaptic components.

Various retinal injuries induced by ocular hypertension have been shown to induce plastic changes in retinal synapses, but the potential regulatory mechanism of synaptic plasticity after retinal injury was still unclear. A rat model of acute ocular hypertension was established by injecting saline intravitreally for an hour, and elevating the intraocular pressure to 14.63 kPa （110 mmHg）. Western blot assay and immuno.luorescence results showed that synaptophysin expression had a distinct spatiotemporal change that increased in the inner plexiform layer within 1 day and spread across the outer plexiform layer after 3 days. Glial fibrillary acidic protein expression in retinae was greatly increased after 3 days, and reached a peak at 7 days, which was also consistent with the peak time of synaptophysin expression in the outer plexiform layer following the increased intraocular pressure. Fluorocitrate, a glial metabolic inhibitor, was intravitreally injected to inhibit glial cell activation following high intraocular pressure. This significantly inhibited the enhanced glial fibrillary acidic protein expression induced by high intraocular pressure injury. Synaptophysin expression also decreased in the inner plexiform layer within a day and the widened distribution in the outer plexiform layer had disappeared by 3 days. The results suggested that retinal glial cell activation might play an important role in the process of retinal synaptic plasticity induced by acute high intraocular pressure through affecting the expression and distribution of synaptic functional proteins, such as synaptophysin.

From the viewpoint of quantum information, this paper studies preparation and control of atomic optimal entropy squeezing states （AOESS） for a moving two-level atom under control of the two-mode squeezing vacuum fields. Necessary conditions of preparation of the AOESS are analysed, and numerical verification of the AOESS is finished. It shows that the AOESS can be prepared by controlling the time of the atom interaction with the field, cutting the entanglement between the atom and field, and adjusting squeezing factor of the field. An atomic optimal entropy squeezing sudden generation in different components can alternately be realized by controlling the field-mode structure parameter.

A biosorbent prepared from powdered mycelial biomass of Ceriporia lacerata （CLB）, a basidiomycetous fungus, was applied for the uptake of Crystal Violet from aqueous solution. A batch adsorption experiment was used for the biosorption process, involving effect of experimental factors and biosorption kinetics and equilibrium. Biosorption process showed that the removal of Crystal Violet by CLB was effective over wide pH range, and meanwhile was independent on ionic strength. Biosorption capacities of CLB increased with the initial dye concentration increasing, due to an increase in the driving force of the concentration gradient. The adsorbed Crystal Violet amount per unit biomass weight decreased with increasing biosorbent dosage, due to the splitting effect of flux （concentration gradient） between sorbate and biosorbent. A maximum sorption capacity of 239.25 mg/g was observed. Biosorption kinetics was found to be best represented by the pseudo second-order kinetic model. The equilibrium adsorption data was well described by the Koble-Corrigan model. FT-IR （Fourier Transform Infrared Spetroscopy） spectrum showed the presence of O–H, COOH, C=O, C–N, C–H, –NH2 and P–OH in the surface of CLB as functional groups. This study showed CLB can effectively remove CV from dye wastewater.

Titanium-supported nano.orous palladium catalyst （Pd/Ti） was prepared by a hydrothermal method using PdC12 as a precursor, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid （EDTA） as a ligand, and formaldehyde as a reduction agent. Complex Pd-EDTA^2- is favorable for the formation of Pd particles with nano.cale sizes. The electroactivity of the Pd/Ti catalyst towards the electroreduction of hydrogen peroxide in 1 mol/L NaOH solution was evaluated by voltammetric techniques. Both linear scan voltammetric and chrono.mperometric data present significantly large steady-state reduction current density of the hydrogen peroxide electroreduction on the prepared Pd/Ti catalyst. The results show that the prepared Pd/Ti catalyst is an effective electrocatalyst for the electroreduction of hydrogen peroxide in alkaline media.

Using the direct perturbation technique, this paper obtains a general perturbed solution of the Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in one-dimensional tilted optical lattice potential. We also gave out two necessary and sufficient conditions for boundedness of the perturbed solution. Theoretical analytical results and the corresponding numerical results show that the perturbed solution of the Bose-Einstein condensate system is unbounded in general and indicate that the Bose-Einstein condensates are Lyapuno.-unstable. However, when the conditions for boundedness of the perturbed solution are satisfied, then the Bose-Einstein condensates are Lyapuno.-stable.

This paper deals with the stability of static recurrent neural networks （RNNs） with a time-varying delay. An augmented Lyapuno.-Krasovskii functional is employed, in which some useful terms are included. Furthermore, the relationship among the timevarying delay, its upper bound and their difierence, is taken into account, and no.el bounding techniques for 1- τ（t） are employed. As a result, without igno.ing any useful term in the derivative of the Lyapuno.-Krasovskii functional, the resulting delay-dependent criteria show less conservative than the existing ones. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
