Effect of trigger system on experimental dispersion characteristics of active surface wave testing

A trigger system is typically employed in active seismic testing to trigger and synchronize multichannel surface wave data acquisition.The effect of the trigger system on the dispersion image of surface waves is empirically known to be negligible,however,theoretical explanation regarding the effect of the trigger system is insufficient.This study systematically examines the theory for surface wave dispersion analysis and proves that the effect of the trigger system on a dispersion image is negligible via a solid theoretical explanation.Subsequently,based on the new theoretical explanation,an alternative method that uses only the relative phase difference between sensors to extract dispersion characteristics with better conceptual clarity is proposed.Two active surface wave testing cases are considered to validate the theory and method.The results indicate that(1)an accurate trigger system is not necessary for surface wave data acquisition,and(2)it is unnecessary to assume that the impact point is the generation point of the surface waves for the experimental dispersion analysis.

Chromium released during municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI)is toxic and carcinogenic.The removal of chromium from simulated MSWI flue gas by four sorbents(CaO,bamboo charcoal(BC),powdered activated carbon(PAC),and Al_(2)O_(3))and the effects of four oxides(SiO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),Fe_(2)O_(3),and CaO)on chromium speciation transformationwere investigated.The results showed that the removal rates of total Cr by the four sorbents were Al_(2)O_(3)

Coarse-fine joint target parameter estimation method based on AN-RSC in OFDM passive radar

In this paper,we study the accuracy of delay-Doppler parameter estimation of targets in a passive radar using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)signal.A coarse-fine joint estimation method is proposed to achieve better estimation accuracy of target parameters without excessive computational burden.Firstly,the modulation symbol domain(MSD)method is used to roughly estimate the delay and Doppler of targets.Then,to obtain high-precision Doppler estimation,the atomic norm(AN)based on the multiple measurement vectors(MMV)model(MMV-AN)is used to manifest the signal sparsity in the continuous Doppler domain.At the same time,a reference signal compensation(RSC)method is presented to obtain highprecision delay estimation.Simulation results based on the OFDM signal show that the coarse-fine joint estimation method based on AN-RSC can obtain a more accurate estimation of target parameters compared with other algorithms.In addition,the proposed method also possesses computational advantages compared with the joint parameter estimation.

Hsp90βis critical for the infection of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)caused by the SFTS virus(SFTSV)is an emerging disease in East Asia with a fatality rate of up to 30%.However,the viral-host interaction of SFTSV remains largely unknown.The heat-shock protein 90(Hsp90)family consists of highly conserved chaperones that fold and remodel proteins and has a broad impact on the infection of many viruses.Here,we showed that Hsp90 is an important host factor involved in SFTSV infection.Hsp90 inhibitors significantly reduced SFTSV replication,viral protein expression,and the formation of inclusion bodies consisting of nonstructural proteins(NSs).Among viral proteins,NSs appeared to be the most reduced when Hsp90 inhibitors were used,and further analysis showed that their translation was affected.Co-immunoprecipitation of NSs with four isomers of Hsp90 showed that Hsp90βspecifically interacted with them.Knockdown of Hsp90βexpression also inhibited replication of SFTSV.These results suggest that Hsp90βplays a critical role during SFTSV infection and could be a potential target for the development of drugs against SFTS.

Tuning the solubility of polysulfides for constructing practical lithium-sulfur battery

Li-S batteries are regarded as one of the most promising candidates for next-generation battery systems with high energy density and low cost.However,the dissolution-precipitation reaction mechanism of the sulfur（S） cathode enhances the kinetics of the redox processes of the insulating sulfu r,which also arouses the notorious shuttle effect,leading to serious loss of S species and corrosion of Li anode.To get a balance between the shuttle restraining and the kinetic property,a combined strategy of electrolyte regulation and cathode modification is proposed via introducing 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3-tetrafluoroprpyl ether（HFE） instead of 1,2-dimethoxyethane（DME）,and SeS7instead of S8.The introduction of HFE tunes the solvation structure of the LiTFSI and the dissolution of intermediate polysulfides with Se doping（LiPSSes）,and optimize the interface stability of the Li anode simultaneously.The minor Se substitution compensates the decrease in kinetic due to the decreased solubility of LiPSs.In this way,the Li-SeS7batteries deliver a reversible capacity of 1062 and 1037 mAh g-1with 2.0 and 5.5 mg SeS7cm-2loading condition,respectively.Besides,an electrolyte-electrode loading model is established to explain the relationship between the optimal electrolyte and cathode loading.It makes more sense to guide the electrolyte design for practical Li-S batteries.

Osteosarcoma is the most common malignant bone tumor affecting children and adolescents.Currently,the most common treatment is surgery combined with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Although the survival rate of patients with osteosarcoma has improved in recent years,it remains poor when the tumor(s)progress and distant metastases develop.Therefore,better animal models that more accurately replicate the natural progression of the disease are needed to develop improved prognostic and diagnostic markers,as well as targeted therapies for both primary and metastatic osteosarcoma.The present review described animal models currently being used in research investigating osteosarcoma,and their characteristics,advantages,and disadvantages.These models may help elucidate the pathogenic mechanism(s)of osteosarcoma and provide evidence to support and develop clinical treatment strategies.

Independent and Combined Associations of Sleep Duration, Bedtime, and Polygenic Risk Score with the Risk of Hearing Loss among Middle-Aged and Old Chinese: The Dongfeng–Tongji Cohort Study

Evidence available on the independent and combined associations of sleep duration,bedtime,and genetic predisposition with hearing loss was lacking.The present study included 15,827 participants from the Dongfeng–Tongji cohort study.Genetic risk was characterized by polygenic risk score(PRS)based on 37 genetic loci related to hearing loss.We conducted multivariate logistic regression models to assess the odds ratio(OR)for hearing loss with sleep duration and bedtime,as well as the joint association and interaction with PRS.Results showed that hearing loss was independently associated with sleeping≥9 h/night compared to the recommended 7 to9:00 p.***.to 10:00 p.***.compared to those with bedtime>10:00 p.***.to 11:00 p.m.,with estimated ORs of 1.25,1.27,and 1.16,respectively.

Reassessing the contributions of terrestrial waters to sea level variations in the South china Sea and its response to alternating ENSO events

Regional sea level variability is linked to regional terrestrial water and the El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO).This study assessed the relationships between the sea level variations in the South china Sea(SCS)and ENSO,the impact of terrestrial water storage(TWS)on non-steric sea level(NSSL),and the contributions of steric sea level(SSL)and NSSL to sea level anomaly(SLA),respectively.From 2003 to 2015,the SLAs exhibited a long-term trend of 6.65±0.78 mm/yr,which was primarily attributed to the SSLs.Additionally,during 2003-2015,ENSO events alternating with varying intensities might also be responsible for the unusually high SLA trend.Compared to the SSLs,the NSSLs contributed the seasonal signals to the SLAs,while the NSSLs changes were largely explained by the TWS in the Mekong River Basin at the seasonal scale and in the Pearl River Basin and Red River Basin at other time scales.In contrast to the TWS,the contributions of precipitation and evapotranspiration were relatively minor.A negative correlation between the sea level variations and ENSO was also found,with cross-correlation coefficients between the oceanic Ni?o index and SLAs/SSLs/NSSLs of -0.36/-0.37/-0.62 with lags of 2/3/2 months,respectively.These findings systematically reassessed the contributions of different components to the sea level variations.This study provided a benchmark for in-depth analysis of the impacts of terrestrial water and other potential causes on sea level rise in the SCS.

The effects of inner electrode shape on the performance of dielectric barrier discharge reactor for oxidative removal of NO and SO_(2)

Seagoing vessels are responsible for more than 90%of global freight traffic,but meanwhile,emission pollutants(NO_(x)and SO_(x))of seagoing vessels also cause serious air pollution.Nonthermal plasma(NTP)combined with wet scrubbing technology is considered to be a promising technology.In order to improve the oxidation efficiency and energy efficiency of the NTP reactor,the screw and rod inner electrodes of dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)reactor were investigated.To analyze the mechanism,the optical emission spectra(OES)of NTP were measured and numerical calculation was applied.The experiment results show that the NO oxidation removal efficiency of screw electrode is lower than that of rod electrode.However,the SO_(2)removal efficiency of screw electrode is higher.According to the OES experiment and numerical calculation,the electric field intensity of the screw electrode surface is much higher than that of the rod electrode surface,and it is easier to generate N radicals to form NO.For the same energy density condition,the OH radical generation efficiency of the screw electrode reactor is similar to that of the rod electrode,but the gas temperature in the discharge gap is higher.Therefore,the SO2 oxidation efficiency of the thread electrode is higher.This study provides guidance for the optimization of oxidation efficiency and energy consumption of DBD reactor.

Impact response and energy absorption of metallic buffer with entangled wire mesh damper

An innovative metallic buffer consisting of series-connected hat-shaped entangled wire mesh damper(EWMD)and parallel springs are proposed in this work to enhance the reliability of engineering equipment.The impact response and the energy dissipation mechanism of hat-shaped EWMD under different quasi-static compression deformations(2-7 mm)and impact heights(100-200 mm)are investigated using experimental and numerical methods.The results demonstrate distinct stages in the quasi-static mechanical characteristics of hat-shaped EWMD,including stiffness softening,negative stiffness,and stiffness hardening.The loss factor gradually increases with increasing compression deformation before entering the stiffness hardening stage.Under impact loads,the hat-shaped EWMD exhibits optimal impact energy absorption when it enters the negative stiffness stage(150 mm),resulting in the best impact isolation effect of metallic buffer.However,the impact energy absorption significantly decreases when hat-shaped EWMD enters the stiffness hardening stage.Interestingly,quasi-static compression analysis after experiencing different impact loads reveals the disappearance of the negative stiffness phenomenon.Moreover,with increasing impact loads,the stiffness hardening point progressively shifts to an earlier stage.
