Three heat shock protein （HSP） genes （hsp70, hsc70, hsp90） were partially cloned from the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens and the small brown planthopper Laodelphax striatellus （Homoptera： Delphacidae）, which are serious pests of the rice plant. Sequence comparisons at the deduced amino acid level showed that the three HSPs of planthoppers were most homologous to corresponding HSPs of dipteran and lepidopteran species. Identities of both heat shock cognate 70 and HSP90 were higher than HSP70 in both species. Identity of the HSP70 between the two planthopper species was only 81%, a value much lower than seen among fly and moth groups. Effects of heat and cold shocks were demonstrated on expression of the three hsp genes in the two planthopper species. Heat shock （40 ℃） upregulated the hsp90 level but did not change the hsc70 level in either the nymph and adult stages of either species. On the other hand, the hsp70 level was only upregulated in L. striatellus. This heat shock response was prompt and lasted only for 1 h after treatment. In contrast, cold shock at 4℃ did not change the expression levels of any hsp in either species.

The increasingly aging society led to a rise in the prevalence of chronic wounds(CWs),posing a significant burden to public health on a global *** of the key features of CWs is the presence of a maladjusted immune microenvironment characterized by persistent and excessive(hyper)inflammation.A variety of immunomodulatory therapies have been proposed to address this ***,to date,current delivery systems for immunomodulatory therapy remain inadequate and lack *** highlights the need for new therapeutic delivery systems,such as nanosystems,to manage the pathological inflammatory imbalance and,ultimately,improve the treatment outcomes of *** a plethora of immunomodulatory nanosystems modifying the immune microenvironment of CWs have shown promising therapeutic effects,the literature on the intersection of immunomodulatory nanosystems and CWs remains relatively ***,this review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the pathogenesis and characteristics of the immune microenvironment in CWs,discuss important advancements in our understanding of CW healing,and delineate the versatility and applicability of immunomodulatory nanosystems-based therapies in the therapeutic management of *** addition,we herein also shed light on the main challenges and future perspectives in this rapidly evolving research field.

Objective:Bone metastasis occurs in up to 90%of men with advanced prostate cancer and leads to fractures,severe pain and *** metastases induce a spectrum of types of bone lesions which can respond differently to therapy even within individual prostate cancer ***,the special environment of the bone makes the disease more complicated and incurable.A model in which bone lesions are reproducibly induced that mirrors the complexity seen in patients would be invaluable for pre-clinical testing of novel *** microstructural changes in the femurs of mice implanted with PCSD1,a new patient-derived xenograft from a surgical prostate cancer bone metastasis specimen,were ***:Quantitative micro-computed tomography(micro-CT)and histological analyses were performed to evaluate the effects of direct injection of PCSD1 cells or media alone(Control)into the right femurs of Rag2/gc/male ***:Bone lesions formed only in femurs of mice injected with PCSD1 *** volume(BV)was significantly decreased at the proximal and distal ends of the femurs(p<0.01)whereas BV(p<0.05)and bone shaft diameter(p<0.01)were significantly increased along the femur ***:PCSD1 cells reproducibly induced bone loss leading to osteolytic lesions at the ends of the femur,and,in contrast,induced aberrant bone formation leading to osteoblastic lesions along the femur ***,the interaction of PCSD1 cells with different bone region-specific microenvironments specified the type of bone *** approach can be used to determine if different bone regions support more therapy resistant tumor growth,thus,requiring novel treatments.

Driving factors of carbon dioxide emissions in China： an empirical study using 2006-2010 provincial data

The rapid urbanization of China has increased pressure on its environmental and ecological well being. In this study, the temporal and spatial profiles of China＇s carbon dioxide emissions are analyzed by taking heterogeneities into account based on an integration of the extended stochastic impacts using a geographically and temporally weighted regression model on population, affluence, and technology. Population size, urbanization rate, GDP per capita, energy intensity, industrial structure, energy consumption pattern, energy prices, and economy openness are identified as the key driving factors of regional carbon dioxide emissions and examined through the empirical data for 30 provinces during 2006-2010. The results show the driving factors and their spillover effects have distinct spatial and temporal heterogeneities. Most of the estimated time and space coefficients are consistent with expectation. According to the results of this study, the heterogeneous spatial and temporal effects should be taken into account when designing policies to achieve the goals of carbon dioxide emissions reduction in different regions.

The diverse clam shrimp Nestoria-Keratestheria fauna is widely distributed in the Dabeigou Formation in northern Hebei and eastern Inner Mongolia of China. Its important component genus Magumbonia from the Dabeigou Formation in the Luanping Basin, northern Hebei, China, is revised on the basis of a scanning electron microscope （SEM） examination of the type species *** Wang, 1984, which revealed morphological features not recognized previously. These include coarse reticulation on the umbo and prominent growth lines ornamented with densely spaced, small tubercles and fine lirae.

Cell and Tissue Engineering provides exciting opportunities for studying development and *** this talk,we will focus on cell chirality,also known as handedness and left-right(LR)asymmetry,which is an intrinsic capability of the cell telling left from right(1)The development of the vertebrate body plan with left-right asymmetry requires the emerging chiral morphogenesis at multicellular levels at specific embryonic *** in orientation of the LR axis due to genetic or environmental factors can lead to malformations and ***,the concept of cell chirality has never studied in detail until the recent development of novel engineering tools[2-3].We demonstrate that the cultivation of cells on micropatterned 2D surfaces and in 3D graded hydrogels reveals an intrinsic cellular LR asymmetry,which is dependent of cell phenotype and actin *** these new tools,we examine the role of cell chirality on the embryonic development of cardiac LR asymmetry [4] as well as the barrier function of endothelium layers [5].We find that Protein Kinase C(PKC)activation reverses the inherent chirality from clockwise to counter clockwise in engineering systems [4-5].Interestingly,activation of PKC signaling reverses the directional bias of chick cardiac C-looping [4].Mediating endothelial cell chirality can regulate the permeability of endothelial layers[5].Overall,our results strongly suggest critical roles of cell chirality in cardiovascular development and disease.
