A computational fluid dynamics model(CFD)is developed for intermittent gas lift *** simulation is conducted for a test section of 18 m vertical tube with 0.076 m in diameter using air as injection gas and oil as a formation *** results obtained from the CFD model are validated with the experiment results from the *** current study shows that computational modeling is a proven simulation program for predicting intermittent gas lift characteristics and the transient flow parameters that are changing with time and position in the coordinate *** model can predict the slug velocity behavior for different injection *** slug velocity profile shows three regions;the first region is the rapid acceleration at the initial time of injection,the second region shows the nearly constant velocity until the slug reaches the surface and the third region is again the rapid acceleration when the liquid starts to ***,the results obtained from this model show that as the gas injection pressure increases,the liquid slug velocity increase,and the region of the constant velocity *** effect of the injection time on the liquid production rate has been studied for two different gas injection pressures of 40 psig and 50 *** developed model shows that more than 50%of the liquid production is coming from after flow period.

AIM To investigate the clinical significance of routinely used glycemic parameters in a cohort of colorectal cancer(CRC) *** Pre-treatment fasting blood glucose, insulin, Hb A1 c and homeostasis model of risk assessment(HOMA-IR) were retrospectively evaluated in a case-control study of 224 CRC and 112 control subjects matched for sex, obesity and diabetes frequency and blood lipid ***, the prognostic value of routinely used glycemic parameters towards progression-free(PFS) and overall survival(OS) was prospectively *** Fasting blood glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR and HbA 1c(all P unders, which was further confirmed in a subgroup analysis performed after exclusion of diabetic *** HbA 1c might have a negative prognostic value in CRC, thus suggesting that glycemic metabolic markers should be carefully monitored in these patients, independently of overt diabetes.

This paper provides an up-to-date review of the problems related to the generation,detection and mitigation of strong electromagnetic pulses created in the interaction of high-power,high-energy laser pulses with different types of solid *** includes new experimental data obtained independently at several international *** mechanisms of electromagnetic field generation are analyzed and considered as a function of the intensity and the spectral range of emissions they *** major emphasis is put on the GHz frequency domain,which is the most damaging for electronics and may have important *** physics of electromagnetic emissions in other spectral domains,in particular THz and MHz,is also *** theoretical models and numerical simulations are compared with the results of experimental measurements,with special attention to the methodology of measurements and complementary *** the underlying physical processes is the basis for developing techniques to mitigate the electromagnetic threat and to harness electromagnetic emissions,which may have promising applications.

V2X-Communication Assisted Interference Minimization for Automotive Radars

With the development of automated driving vehicles, more and more vehicles will be fitted with more than one automotive radars, and the radar mutual interference will become very significant. Vehicle to everything (V2X) communication is a potential way for coordinating automotive radars and reduce the mutual interference. In this paper, we analyze the positional relation of the two radars that interfere with each other, and evaluate the mutual interference for different types of automotive radars based on Poisson point process (PPP). We also propose a centralized framework and the corresponding algorithm, which relies on V2X communication systems to allocate the spectrum resources for automotive radars to minimize the interference. The minimum spectrum resources required for zero-interference are analyzed for different cases. Simulation results validate the analysis and show that the proposed framework can achieve near-zero-interference with the minimum spectrum resources.

Background:Long-term ringing and telemetry studies show that the Osprey(Pandion haliaetus)is a broad-front migrant following different migratory flyways,depending on the geographical location of their breeding *** have investigated two distinct and declining populations of Osprey in Poland,separated by only a few hundred kilometres,and hypothesised they may exhibit two different migration *** followed mortality causes,comparing them between migration and stationary phases of annual cycle,as well as between two distinct ***:Nineteen Ospreys,both juveniles and adults,were equipped with GPS loggers in 2017-2020 in two populations in western and eastern Poland and followed on their autumn *** calculated the distance they covered on the migration,number of stopover days,migration duration,daily distances covered and departure dates to compare them between age and sex classes and between the eastern and western ***:Ospreys from the western and eastern populations showed a partial migratory *** the first migrated through a western flyway,the second followed a central flyway,resulting in crossing the Mediterranean Sea in distant passes that affected the distance *** mortality reached at least 67%in juveniles and at least 57%in ***:We showed that two distinct Osprey populations in Poland revealed a partial migratory divide,with one covering greater distances over sea and deserts over the central *** might affect individual survival rates and contribute to a steeper decline in one of the *** order for this to be confirmed,more individuals still have to be followed.

The majority of the population on the African continent is unable to access basic electricity services,this despite the abundance of renewable energy sources(RESs).The inability to adequately tap into these RESs has led to the continued dependence on non-renewable energy sources such as coal for electricity generation,and kerosene for cooking and lighting,the resulting use of which is poor health *** use of Microgrids(MGs)is being extensively researched as a feasible means of tackling the challenge of electrification,especially in rural and remote *** times have seen an increasing number of research works focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa(SSA),which is one of the regions with the lowest electrification rates in the *** provide the most suitable means to integrate RESs into the electricity generation process,paving the way towards clean energy for the African *** paper presents a review of recent literature on the usage of MG technology for rural electrification,with a specific focus on the applicability of MGs in the SSA *** paper additionally presents the challenges and opportunities to *** findings indicate that SSA has already begun the transition towards clean energy via implementation of RES-based ***,two resonating challenges in the literature are adequate support via policy,and proper planning of project *** two major barriers are needed to be overcome in order to fully utilize MGs for rural electrification in *** key methodology derived from this study is that any effort towards rural electrification requires a sufficient amount of investigation,incorporating both the technological and socio-economic aspects into a suitable design for the target location.

Tilted-pulse-front-pumping(TPFP) lithium-niobate terahertz(THz) pulse sources are widely used in pump-probe and control experiments since they can generate broadband THz pulses with tens of microjoules of energy. However, the conventional TPFP setup suffers from limitations, hindering the generation of THz pulses with peak electric field strength over 1 MV/***, a few setups were suggested to mitigate or even eliminate these limitations. In this paper, we shortly review the setups that are suitable for the generation of single-cycle THz pulses with up to a few tens of megavolts/centimeter focused electric field strength. The THz pulses available with the new layouts pave the way for previously unattainable applications that require extremely high electric field strength and pulse energy in the multi-millijoule range.
