Prostate cancer, one of the most frequently occurring cancers in men, is a heterogeneous disease involving multiple cell types within tumors. This tumor heterogeneity at least partly results from genomic instability leading to sub-clonal cellular differentiation. The differentiated cell populations originate from a small subset of cells with tumor-initiating and stem-like properties. These cells, termed prostate cancer stem cells(PCSCs), play crucial roles in disease progression, drug resistance, and relapse. This review discusses the origin, hierarchy, and plasticity of PCSCs;methods for isolation and enrichment of PCSCs;and various cellular and metabolic signaling pathways involved in PCSC induction and maintenance, as well as therapeutic targeting.

Sulfamic acid（SA） is a bi-functional, cost-effective and reusable green catalyst for the synthesis of 4-（pyrazol-4-yl）methylenepyrazol-5（4H）-one derivatives by one-pot, three-component condensation of pyrazol-4-carbaxaldehydes, b-ketoesters and phenyl hydrazine（Route-I）. In addition to this method,another simple condensation of pyrazol-4-carbaxaldehydes with pyrazolone in the presence of SA under the solvent-free condition in good yield is reported. The merits of these protocols are mild conditions,non-aqueous workup, high yields, easy availability of the catalyst, no chromatographic separation and inexpensive solid acid catalyst. Furthermore, SA could be recycled and reused for five times without losing its catalytic activity.

Histopathological alterations induced by the sublethal concentration of (0.03 ppm) mercuric chloride solution on the epidermis of the fresh-water catfish Heteropneuates fossilis have been studied. It induces slow but significant histopathological changes in the various cellular components of the epidermis. It induces vacuolization, necrosis and pycnosis of the nuclei of the epithelial cells which subsequently shed. Loosening of epithelial cells of the outermost and middle layers following degeneration of the intercellular material and widened intercellular spaces is another important alteration. Prolonged mercury treatment also causes a gradual decrease in staining intensity for sulphated glycosaminoglycans in the outer border of the most superficial layer epithelial cells. The glandular elements (club cells and mucocytes) also get affected, showing cyclic degeneration followed by regeneration.

Nanocrystalline samples of highly pure lead oxide were prepared by the sol-gel route of synthesis.X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopic techniques confirmed the nanocrystallinity of the samples,and the average sizes of the crystallites were found within 20 nm to 35 *** nanocrystallites exhibited specific anomalous properties,among which a prominent one is the increased lattice parameters and unit cell *** optical band gaps also increased when the nanocrystallites became smaller in *** latter aspect is attributable to the onset of quantum confinement effects,as seen in a few other metal oxide *** annihilation was employed to study the vacancy type defects,which were abundant in the samples and played crucial roles in modulating their *** defect concentrations were significantly larger in the samples of smaller crystallite *** results suggested the feasibility of tailoring the properties of lead oxide nanocrystallites for technological applications,such as using lead oxide nanoparticles in batteries for better performance in discharge rate and *** also provided the physical insight into the structural build-up process when crystallites were formed with a finite number of atoms,whose distributions were governed by the site stabilization energy.

Background:Lymphatic filariasis(LF),a vector-borne parasitic disease,is endemic in several parts of india and mostly affects the poor or those with a *** disease results in huge numbers of morbidities,disabilities,and deaths every *** of co-infection with other pathogens makes the condition more *** co-infection is becoming a growing area of research,it is yet to emerge as a frontier research topic in filarial research *** study reports the occurrence of a fungal infection in a large number of patients suffering from bancroftian filariasis in two districts of West Bengal,***:Nocturnal blood samples from filarial patients containing parasites and fungus were initially co-cultured,and further the fungus was isolated and *** identification of the isolate was carried out by PCR-based selective amplification and sequencing of highly-conserved D1/D2 region of 26S rDNA,whereas pathogenicity was determined by amplification of the RPS0 gene.A phylogenetic tree was constructed to study the relationship between the isolate and common pathogenic *** isolate was studied for antibiotic sensitivity,whereas morphological characterization was performed by microscopic ***:The isolate was identified as Pichia guilliermondii and this fungus was found to exist in co-infection with Wuchereria bancrofti in filarial *** fungus showed resistance to azole antifungals,griseofulvin,and,amphotericin B,whereas significant susceptibility was evident in cases of nystatin and cycloheximide.A total of 197 out of 222 patients showed this ***:This study revealed,for the first time,that *** exists as a co-infection in microfilaraemic individuals living in a filarial endemic *** findings are important and have relevance to human health,especially for filarial patients.

Inspired by the availability of recent experimental as well as theoretical data on the energy levels of odd-mass^151-161Pm and odd-odd^154,156Pm,we applied the theoretical framework of the projected shell model to further understand the nuclear structure of these *** calculations closely reproduced the experimental data reported for the yrast bands of these isotopes by assuming an axial(prolate)deformation of^*** properties along the yrast line,such as transition energies and transition probabilities,have also been *** diagrams are plotted to understand their intrinsic multi-quasiparticle structure,which turn out to be dominated by 1-quasiparticle bands for the odd-mass Pm isotopes and 2-quasiparticle bands for the doubly-odd Pm isotopes under *** present study not only confirms the recently reported experimental/theoretical data,but also extends the already available information on the energy levels and adds new information regarding the reduced transition probabilities.

In the background of f(R,L_(m))gravity,this work investigates three distinct dark matter halo profiles to test the possibility of generalised wormhole geometry within the galactic halo *** current study aims to accomplish these goals by examining various dark matter profiles including universal rotation curves(URC),Navarro-Frenk-White(NFW)model-Ⅰ,and NFW model-Ⅱinside two distinct f(R,L_(m))gravity *** to the f(R,L_(m))=R/2+L^(a)_(m)model,the dark matter(DM)halo density profiles produce suitable shape functions that meet all the necessary requirements for exhibiting the wormhole geometries with appropriate choice of free *** addition,to examine DM profiles under the f(R,L_(m))=R/2+(1+λR)L_(m) model,we consider a specific shape ***,we observed that the derived solution from both two models violates the null energy constraints,confirming that the DM supports wormholes to maintain in the galactic halo.

Hydrographical parameters and phytoplankton assemblages were determined along the Pondicherry, Parangipettai and Nagapattinam coastal waters, southeast coast of india. All the hydrographical parameters such as sea surface temperature, salinity, p H, total alkalinity, dissolved oxygen and nutrients like nitrate, nitrite, inorganic phosphate and reactive silicate, chlorophyll a and phytoplankton assemblages were studied for a period of five months(May, August, September 2010, March and November 2011). Over 121 species of phytoplankton represented by 93 species of diatoms, 16 species of dinoflagellates, 9 species of blue-green algae, 2 species of greens and 1 species of silicoflagellate were recorded. High phytoplankton species diversity was found in March 2011 when salinity and nitrate concentrations were low and reactive silicate and inorganic phosphates were moderate. Species diversity was low during May 2010 when increased sea surface temperature, salinity and low nutrients availability were observed. Coscinodiscus centralis, Diatoma vulgaris and Proboscia alata were dominant, especially Coscinodiscus sp. distributed in all stations whereas Skeletonema costatum, Odontella sinensis and Ditylum brightwellii were abundant in August and September 2010. From principal component analysis and multiple regression analysis, it is evident that variables like sea surface temperature and dissolved oxygen are the most important factors influencing the seasonal pattern of phytoplankton population.

Whether swarms of preferentially oriented dykes are controlled by regional stress fields, or passively exploit basement structural fabric, is a much debated question, with support for either scenario in individual case studies. The Sarnu-Dandali alkaline complex, near the northwestern limit of the Deccan Traps continental flood basalt province, contains mafic to felsic alkaline volcano-plutonic rocks and carbonatites. The complex is situated near the northern end of the 600 km long, NNWe SSE-trending Barmer-Cambay rift. Mafic enclave swarms in the syenites suggest synplutonic mafic dykes injected into a largely liquid felsic magma chamber. Later coherent dykes in the complex, of all compositions and sizes,dominantly strike NNWe SSE, parallel to the Barmer-Cambay rift. The rift formed during two distinct episodes of extension, NWe SE in the early Cretaceous and NEe SW in the late Cretaceous. Control of the southern indian Dharwar structural fabric on the rift trend, as speculated previously, is untenable,whereas the regional Precambrian basement trends（Aravalli and Malani） run NEe SW and NNEe *** therefore suggest that the small-scale Sarnu-Dandali dykes and the much larger-scale BarmerCambay rift were not controlled by basement structure, but related to contemporaneous, late Cretaceous regional ENEe WSW extension, for which there is varied independent evidence.
