Sleep posture monitoring is an essential assessment for obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)*** objective of this study is to develop a machine learning-based sleep posture recognition system using a dual ultra-wideband radar *** collected radiofrequency data from two radars positioned over and at the side of the bed for 16 patients performing four sleep postures(supine,left and right lateral,and prone).We proposed and evaluated deep learning approaches that streamlined feature extraction and classification,and the traditional machine learning approaches that involved different combinations of feature extractors and *** results showed that the dual radar system performed better than either single *** statistical features with random forest classifier yielded the best accuracy(0.887),which could be further improved via an ablation study(0.938).Deep learning approach using transformer yielded accuracy of 0.713.

Aerodynamic Features of High-Speed Maglev Trains with Different Marshaling Lengths Running on a Viaduct under Crosswinds

The safety and stability of high-speed maglev trains traveling on viaducts in crosswinds critically depend on their aerodynamic ***,this paper uses an improved delayed detached eddy simulation(IDDES)method to investigate the aerodynamic features of high-speed maglev trains with different marshaling lengths under *** effects of marshaling lengths(varying from 3-car to 8-car groups)on the train’s aerodynamic performance,surface pressure,and the flow field surrounding the train were investigated using the three-dimensional unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes(N-S)*** results showed that the marshaling lengths had minimal influence on the aerodynamic performance of the head and middle ***,the marshaling lengths are negatively correlated with the time-average side force coefficient(CS)and time-average lift force coefficient(Cl)of the tail *** to the tail car of the 3-car groups,the CS and Cl fell by 27.77%and 18.29%,respectively,for the tail car of the 8-car *** is essential to pay more attention to the operational safety of the head car,as it exhibits the highest time average ***,the mean pressure difference between the two sides of the tail car body increased with the marshaling lengths,and the side force direction on the tail car was opposite to that of the head and middle ***,the turbulent kinetic energy of the wake structure on the windward side quickly decreased as marshaling lengths increased.

Going below and beyond the surface: Microneedle structure, materials, drugs, fabrication, and applications for wound healing and tissue regeneration

Microneedle, as a novel drug delivery system, has attracted widespread attention due to its non-invasiveness, painless and simple administration, controllable drug delivery, and diverse cargo loading capacity. Although microneedles are initially designed to penetrate stratum corneum of skin for transdermal drug delivery, they, recently, have been used to promote wound healing and regeneration of diverse tissues and organs and the results are promising. Despite there are reviews about microneedles, few of them focus on wound healing and tissue regeneration. Here, we review the recent advances of microneedles in this field. We first give an overview of microneedle system in terms of its potential cargos (e.g., small molecules, macromolecules, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, extracellular vesicle, cells), structural designs (e.g., multidrug structures, adhesive structures), material selection, and drug release mechanisms. Then we briefly summarize different microneedle fabrication methods, including their advantages and limitations. We finally summarize the recent progress of microneedle-assisted wound healing and tissue regeneration (e.g., skin, cardiac, bone, tendon, ocular, vascular, oral, hair, spinal cord, and uterine tissues). We expect that our article would serve as a guideline for readers to design their microneedle systems according to different applications, including material selection, drug selection, and structure design, for achieving better healing and regeneration efficacy.

Bacillus cereus AR156 primes induced systemic resistance by suppressing miR825/825 and activating defense-related genes in Arabidopsis

Small RNAs play an important role in plant immune responses. However, their regulatory function in induced systemic resistance（ISR） is nascent. Bacillus cereus AR156 is a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium that induces ISR in Arabidopsis against bacterial infection. Here,by comparing small RNA profiles of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato（Pst） DC3000-infected Arabidopsis with and without AR156 pretreatment, we identified a group of Arabidopsis micro RNAs（mi RNAs） that are differentially regulated by AR156 pretreatment. mi R825 and mi R825 are two mi RNA generated from a single mi RNA *** blot analysis indicated that they were significantly downregulated in Pst DC3000-infected plants pretreated with AR156, in contrast to the plants without AR156 pretreatment. mi R825 targets two ubiquitin-protein ligases,while mi R825 targets toll-interleukin-like receptor（TIR）-nucleotide binding site（NBS） and leucine-rich repeat（LRR）type resistance（R） genes. The expression of these target genes negatively correlated with the expression of mi R825 and mi R825. Moreover, transgenic plants showing reduced expression of mi R825 and mi R825 displayed enhanced resistance to Pst DC3000 infection, whereas transgenic plants overexpressing mi R825 and mi R825 were more susceptible. Taken together, our data indicates that Bacillus cereus AR156 pretreatment primes ISR to Pst infection by suppressing mi R825 and mi R825 and activating the defense related genes they targeted.

Efficient photocatalytic degradation of NO by ceramic foam air filters coated with mesoporous TiO_2 thin films

Ceramic foam air filters with three-dimensional（3D） porous structures and high surface areas were coated with mesoporous TiO 2 thin films by the reverse micellar method. The mesoporous TiO 2 thin films efficiently photocatalytically degraded nitrogen oxide（NO）. More than 92.5% of NO was degraded in a single pass for air filter samples containing different pore densities. The 3D porous structure of the ceramic air filters enhanced flow turbulence and mixing. This provided the catalytic system with excellent gas-dynamic properties,and sufficient contact between the reactant gas and catalyst surface. The higher pore density of the ceramic foam filters resulted in a higher photocatalytic rate. More adsorption sites for water vapor and the reactant and product gases improved the photocatalytic activity. The porous ceramic air filters coated with mesoporous TiO 2 had large surface areas,and thus high photocatalytic activity. This overcame the common disadvantages associated with using powdered TiO 2 photocatalysts on substrates. The 3D porous ceramic foam filters coated with mesoporous TiO 2 thin films exhibited a higher photocatalytic degradation rate of NO in air than the same thin film deposited on flat ceramic tiles. No deactivation was observed. A consistently high NO degradation rate was obtained between reaction cycles for the TiO 2-coated 3D porous ceramic filters.

Chirality-switchable acoustic vortex emission via non-Hermitian selective excitation at an exceptional point

Artificial structures provide an efficient method to generate acoustic vortices carrying orbital angular momentum(OAM) essential for applications ranging from object manipulation to acoustic communication. However, their flexibility in terms of chirality control has thus far been limited by the lack of reconfigurability and degrees of freedom like spin–orbit coupling. Here we show that this restriction can be lifted by controlling the individual on–off states of two coherent monopolar sources inside a passive parity-time-symmetric ring cavity at an exceptional point where the counter-propagating waves coalesce into one chiral eigenmode. One of the sources satisfies the chirality-reversal condition, generating a travelling wave field fully decoupled from and opposite to the chiral eigenmode, while the other source is phase-shifted such that the wave generated by the first source can be canceled out, and the remaining sound field circulates in the same direction as the chiral eigenmode. Such non-Hermitian selective excitation enables our experimental realization of acoustic vortex emission with switchable OAM but free of system reconfiguration. Our work offers opportunities for chiral sound manipulation as well as integrated and tunable acoustic OAM devices.

No synergism between bis(propyl)-cognitin and rasagiline on protecting dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson's disease mice

Rasagiline,a monoamine oxidase-B inhibitor,and bis（propyl）-cognitin（B3C）,a novel dimer are reported to be ***,the synergistical neuroprotection produced by rasagiline and B3 C was investigated in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine（MPTP）-induced mice of *** using neurobehavioural tests,high-performance liquid chromatography and western blot assay,we showed that B3 C at 0.3 mg/kg,rasagiline at 0.02 mg/kg,as well as co-treatment with B3 C and rasagiline prevented MPTP-induced behavioural abnormities,increased the concentrations of dopamine and its metabolites in the striatum,and up-regulated the expression of tyrosine hydroxylase in the substantia ***,the neuroprotective effects of co-treatment were not significantly improved when compared with those of B3 C or rasagiline ***,we have demonstrated that B3 C at 0.3 mg/kg and rasagline at 0.02 mg/kg could not produce synergistic neuroprotective effects.

Abnormal hyperphosphorylation of tau protein is a principal pathological hallmark in the onset of neurodegenerative disorders,such as Alzheimer’s disease(AD),which can be induced by an excess of reactive oxygen species(ROS).As an antioxidant,hydrogen gas(H_(2))has the potential to mitigate AD by scavenging highly harmful ROS such as·***,conventional administration methods of H_(2) face significant challenges in controlling H_(2) release on demand and fail to achieve effective accumulation at lesion ***,we report artificial nanoreactors that mimic natural photosynthesis to realize near-infrared(NIR)light-driven photocatalytic H_(2) evolution in *** nanoreactors are constructed by biocompatible crosslinked vesicles(CVs)encapsulating ascorbic acid and two photosensitizers,chlorophyll a(Chla)and indoline dye(Ind).In addition,platinum nanoparticles(Pt NPs)serve as photocatalysts and upconversion nanoparticles(UCNP)act as light-harvesting antennas in the nanoreacting system,and both attach to the surface of *** NIR irradiation,the nanoreactors release H_(2) in situ to scavenge local excess ROS and attenuate tau hyperphosphorylation in the AD mice *** NIR-triggered nanoreactors provide a proof-of-concept design for the great potential of hydrogen therapy against AD.
