The compact physical parameters(μ_(α),U_(iα))in multichannel quantum defect theory(MQDT)can be directly calculated with relativistic multichannel theory(RMCT).Here we report a systematic study of the MQDT parameters(fiay Uia)with RMCT along the Ne-like iso-electronic sequence(including Ca^(10+),Fe^(16+),Ge^(22+),Ag^(37+) ions).We find that the physical parameters(μ_(α),U_(iα))show a very interesting scaling behavior along the iso-electronic sequence.

In this paper we present a theoretical method to calculate the absorption spectra of hot dense plasmas. Based on our fully relativistic treatment incorporated with the quantum defect theory to handle the huge number of transition arrays from many configurations with high principal quantum number, we can calculate the absorption spectra for any element or multi-element plasmas with little computational efforts. We calculate the absorption spectra of C10H16O5 plasmas, which are in good agreement with the experimental spectra. We can then provide diagnostic analysis for plasmas in relevant inertial confinement fusion (ICF) experiments; namely not only to determine plasmas’ temperatures and densities,but also to provide the population densities of various ionic stages. Our theoretical method verified by “benchmark experiments” will be a basic tool to provide “precise” opacity data for the ICF research.

The formulae of photon angular distribution and polarization degree for radiative recombination are presented to include the contribution of multipoles and their correlations. A fully relativistic code is then developed to calculate the photon angular distribution and polarization. The calculated polarization degree and differential cross-sections agree well with that of Scofild＇s results within 10%. The effects of multipoles on polarization and angular distribution are investigated. The polarization and the angular distribution become asymmetric when the multipoles are accounted as the electron energy increases.

We discuss stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) under the convective instability condition with a one-dimensional three-wave interaction (3WI) *** linear theory,we deduce the temporal growth rate,gain exponent,and reflectivity of the backward scattered wave in a finite interaction *** find that the growth rate is not only determined by the laser intensity and plasma density and temperature,but also related to the spatial *** length of the interaction region is important to the gain exponent and backscattering *** simulate the developments and evolutions of SRS and SBS based on the 3WI *** numerical results consist with the linear theory.

The effect of substrate temperature on the microstructure and the morphology of erbium film are systematically investigated using X-ray diffraction （XRD） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. All the erbium films are grown by electron-beam vapor deposition （EBVD）. A novel preparation method for observing the cross-section morphology of the erbium film is developed. The films deposited at 200 ℃ have （002） preferred orientation, and the films deposited at 450 ℃ have a mixed （100） and （101） texture, due to the different growth mechanisms of surface energy minimization and recrystallization, respectively. The peak positions and the full widths at half maximum （FWHMs） of erbium diffraction lines （100）, （002）, and （101） shift towards higher angles and decrease with the increasing substrate temperature in a largely uniform manner, respectively. Also, the lattice constants decrease with increasing temperature. The transition in the film stresses can be used to interpret the changes in peak positions, FWHMs, and lattice constants. The stress is compressive for the as-growth fihns, and is counteracted by the tensile stress formed during the process of temperature cooling to room temperature. The tensile stress mainly originates from the difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the substrate-film couple.

Single-phase VO_(2) thin films are sputtering deposited on BK7 substrates,and sharp insulator-to-metal phase transition is obtained with a resistivity change of four orders of ***(THz)pump-probe measurements reveal that by illuminating the films with a low pumping power of 143μJ/cm^(2),VO_(2) films exhibit an ultrafast optical switching to THz transmission within 8 ***,the THz switching ratio reaches over 80%in a wide frequency range from 0.3 to 2.5 *** these outstanding features indicate a strong potential of VO_(2) films for broadband terahertz wave switching and modulation applications.
