Background:MicroRNAs(miRNAs)play critical roles in corneal development and functional *** previous study identified miR-184 as one of the most highly expressed miRNAs in the corneal *** though its expression level plummeted dramatically during corneal epithelial wound healing(CEWH),its precise role in mediating corneal epithelial renewal was *** present study aimed to reveal the function and mechanism of miR-184 in regulating ***:Quantitative RT-PCR analysis characterized the miR-184 expression pattern during CEWH in *** miR-184 injection determined its effect on this process in *** evaluated the effects of miR-184 and its target genes on the proliferation,cell cycle,and migration of human corneal epithelial cells(HCECs)using MTS,flow cytometry,and wound-healing assay,*** analysis,in conjunction with gene microarray analysis and cell-based luciferase assays,pinpointed gene targets of miR-184 contributing to ***:MiR-184 underwent marked downregulation during mouse *** miR-184 overexpression delayed this process in ***,miR-184 transfection into HCECs significantly inhibited cell proliferation,cell cycle progression,and cell ***-184 directly targeted CDC25A,CARM1,and LASP1,and downregulated their expression in ***1 downregulation inhibited both HCEC proliferation and migration,whereas a decrease in LASP1 gene expression only inhibited ***:Our results demonstrate that miR-184 inhibits corneal epithelial cell proliferation and migration via targeting CDC25A,CARM1,and LASP1,suggesting it acts as a negative modulator during ***,identifying strategies to suppress miR-184 expression levels has the potential to promote CEWH.

Reference control points (RCPs) used in establishing the regression model in the regis-tration or geometric correction of remote sensing images are generally assumed to be “perfect”. That is, the RCPs, as explanatory variables in the regression equation, are accurate and the coordinates of their locations have no errors. Thus ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator has been applied exten-sively to the registration or geometric correction of remotely sensed data. However, this assumption is often invalid in practice because RCPs always contain errors. Moreover, the errors are actually one of the main sources which lower the accuracy of geometric correction of an uncorrected image. Under this situation, the OLS estimator is biased. It cannot handle explanatory variables with errors and cannot propagate appropriately errors from the RCPs to the corrected image. Therefore, it is essential to develop new feasible methods to overcome such a problem. This paper introduces a consistent adjusted least squares (CALS) estimator and proposes relaxed consistent adjusted least squares (RCALS) estimator, with the latter being more general and flexible, for geometric correction or regis-tration. These estimators have good capability in correcting errors contained in the RCPs, and in propagating appropriately errors of the RCPs to the corrected image with and without prior information. The objective of the CALS and proposed RCALS estimators is to improve the accuracy of measure-ment value by weakening the measurement errors. The conceptual arguments are substantiated by a real remotely sensed data. Compared to the OLS estimator, the CALS and RCALS estimators give a superior overall performance in estimating the regression coefficients and variance of measurement errors.

This article reviews the latest research developments in the field of eukaryotic gene regulation by the structural alterations of chromatin and nucleosomes. The following issues are briefly addressed: (i) nucleosome and histone modifications by both the ATP-dependent remodeling complexes and the histone acetyltransferases and their roles in gene activation; (ii) competitive binding of histones and transcription factors on gene promoters, and transcription repression by nucleosomes; and (iii) influences of linker histone HI on gene regulation. Meanwhile, the significance and impact of these new research progresses, as well as issues worthwhile for further study are commented.

The criteria on separation cutoff for birth and death chains were obtained by Diaconis and Saloff-Coste in 2006. These criteria are involving all eigenvalues. In this paper, we obtain the explicit criterion, which depends only on the birth and death rates. Furthermore, we present two ways to estimate moments of the fastest strong stationary time and then give another but equivalent criterion explicitly.

This paper studies the e-ergodicity for discrete-time recurrent Markov chains. It proves that thee-order deviation matrix exists and is finite if and only if the chain is (e + 2)-ergodic, and then the algebraicdecay rates of the n-step transition probability to the stationary distribution are obtained. The criteria fore-ergodicity are given in terms of existence of solution to an equation. The main results are illustrated by some examples.
