Blighia sapida(***)***(Family Sapindaceae)is a branchless straight bole approximately 15 m in *** study evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanol extract and fractions of *** stem-bark using in vitro *** extract and its fractions were investigated for 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radical scavenging activity,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),total antioxidant capacity(TAC),and quantitative phenolic and flavonoid ***-inflammatory activity was evaluated using albumin denaturation and membrane stabilization *** extract and its fractions exhibited radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory *** ethyl acetate fraction possessed maximum phenolic and flavonoid contents(136.67±1.55 gallic acid equivalent mg/g and 75.76±4.03 quercetin equivalent mg/g,respectively).Antioxidant studies revealed that the ethyl acetate fraction displayed superior activity with an IC_(50)=0.09±0.03 mg/mL DPPH,and values of 146.96±3.81 ascorbic acid equivalent(AAE)mg/g and 359.20±4.98 AAE mg/g for FRAP and TAC,***,the anti-inflammatory activity was revealed by inhibition of heatinduced albumin denaturation and red blood cell membrane stabilization at concentrations of 200 -1000 mg/mL and 50-250 mg/mL,*** ethanol extract and fractions exhibited antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities,with ethyl acetate fraction showing superior activity,which could be attributed to secondary metabolites,mainly phenolic ***,the antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities of *** can be exploited by ethnomedicinal users.

An integrated interpretation of processed 3D seismic data,a suite of well logs,biostratigraphic data and core photographs of AMO Field,deep offshore Niger Delta,is carried out for the sequence stratigraphic analysis of strata penetrated by *** and key stratigraphic surfaces,that is,the maximum flooding surfaces(MFSs)and sequence boundaries(SBs),are identified based on bioevents and log *** data help the delineation of MFSs and SBs,as well as dating,determination of depositional environment and *** sequence stratigraphic study reveals seven MFSs(of 13.0 Ma,11.0 Ma,9.5 Ma,7.4 Ma,5.8 Ma,5.0 Ma and 2.7 Ma)and six SBs(of 12.1 Ma,10.3 Ma,8.5 Ma,6.3 Ma,5.5 Ma and 4.2 Ma).The key stratigraphic surfaces identified involve three depositional sequences characterized by lowstand,transgressive and highstand system tracts *** studied section is deposited in a deepwater environment ranging from Lower to Upper Bathyal and can be dated back to the Middle Miocene-Middle Pliocene in *** faults and two horizons(corresponding to reservoir units)are identified and mapped across the seismic data volume to establish a continuity of the reservoir to areas lacking well *** established sequence stratigraphic framework displays successions of sediments(system tracts)where the reservoir sand units of the lowstand and highstand system tracts are of hydrocarbon prospective units in the field.

Synthesis and Some Properties of Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposited Molybdenum Oxysulphide Thin Films

Molybdenum oxodithiocarbamate was prepared as thin films which were deposited on sodalime glass a single solid source precursor for molybdenum oxysulphide substrates using metal organic chemical vapour deposition （MOCVD） technique at a temperature of 420~C. Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy （RBS） was used to determine the elemental composition of the film which showed that the films contained large amounts of oxygen. The large amount of oxygen was attributed to the large abundance of oxygen in the starting material. A direct optical energy gap of 3.31 eV was obtained from the analysis of the absorption spectrum. The scanning electron microscopy （SEM） micrographs of the films showed that the films were continuous and porous. An estimated average size of the grains was below 5 #m. X-ray diffraction （XRD） showed that the deposited films were crystalline in nature.

The single solid source precursor, cobalt （Ⅱ） acetylacetonate was prepared and characterized by infrared spectroscopy. Thin films of cobalt oxide were deposited on soda lime glass substrates through the pyrolysis （metal organic chemical vapour deposition （MOCVD）） of single solid source precursor, cobalt acetylacetonate, Co[C5H7O2]2 at a temperature of 420℃. The compositional characterization carried out by rutherford backscattering spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction （XRD）, showed that the films have a stoichiometry of Co2O3 and an average thickness of 227±0.2 nm. A direct energy gap of 2,15±0.01 eV was calculated by the data obtained by optical absorption spectroscopy. The morphology of the films obtained by scanning electron microscopy, showed that the grains were continuous and uniformly distributed at various magnifications, while the average grain size was less than i micron for the deposited thin films of cobalt oxide.

Effects of heavy metal(Pb) concentration on some growth parameters of plants grown in lead polluted soil under organic fertilizer amendment

This study investigated morphological variation and biomass accumulation that occurred in Sida acuta and Chromolaena odorata plants grown in lead polluted soil under organic fertilizer amendment. The study was carried out in the screen house at the Biological Gardens of the obafemi awolowo university, Ile-Ife, Osun State. The experiment was a factorial combination of one heavy metal （Pb） at five levels of concentration （0, 200, 400, 800 and 1,000 mg/kg） in a completely randomized design, and were replicated three times for each of the two plants and two levels （0 g/kg and 9.4 g/kg） of organic fertilizer （OBD-Plus）. Each pot was filled with 5 kg of air-dried and sieved soil and placed on a plastic tray for the collection of excess water. Two weeks after planting, seedlings of uniform height were transplanted from the nursery to experimental pots at the rate of one seedling per pot and grown for 10 weeks. The growth parameters of the plants were biomonitored for 7 weeks. After 10 weeks of treatment, the plants were harvested and dried to calculate the biomass accumulation. The two plant species performed better under fertilizer application than without it. For each of the plant species the growth parameters decreased as the levels of Pb concentration increased. Furthermore, the plants＇ biomass decreased significantly （p 〈0.05） as the levels of Pb concentration increased. The organic fertilizer helped to improve the plants＇ performance in lead-polluted soil.

【目的】本研究旨在了解臭腹腺蝗Zonocerus variegatus中碳水化合物的消化。【方法】依次通过CM-Sepharose CL-6B阳离子交换、QAE Sephadex A-50阴离子交换以及Sephadex G-100凝胶过滤,对臭腹腺蝗中肠的酶粗提取液(其中α-淀粉酶和纤维素酶的比活性分别为283±1.72 U/mg和17±0.83 U/mg)进行了纯化。最后通过层析将共存的酶分离成α-淀粉酶和纤维素酶。【结果】这两种酶都是单体,α-淀粉酶分子量为38 k Da,纤维素酶分子量为21 k Da。α-淀粉酶对淀粉的Km值为13.8±1.29 mg/m L,Vmax为3 883±52.25 U/mg pro;而纤维素酶对羧甲基纤维素底物的Km值为5.03±0.57 mg/m L,Vmax为433.00±5.24 U/mg pro。臭腹腺蝗α-淀粉酶能以不同的效率水解原淀粉,纤维素酶也能不同程度水解各种纤维材料。α-淀粉酶的水解活性在p H 6和40℃下最高,而纤维素酶的水解高活性在p H 9和45℃下最高。【结论】从番木瓜Carica papaya种子中分离到蛋白类抑制剂,发现它们是这两种酶的有效抑制剂,说明这些蛋白抑制剂(Cp AI和Cp CI)如果在害虫取食的作物上过量表达,则可能有利于害虫防治。尽管纤维类和淀粉类物质可能都显著提供该害虫的能量需求,但是动力学分析表明臭腹腺蝗更偏向于淀粉类食物。
