Long-term follow-up of HCV patients with sustained virological response after treatment with pegylated interferon plus ribavirin

Background:The progress of liver diseases may not stop after viral *** study aimed to provide data on long-term prognosis of patients with hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection who underwent pegylated interferon plus ribavirin(PR)regimen and achieved a sustained virological response 24 weeks post-treatment(SVR24).Methods:Responders to the PR regimen in our hospital from January 2011 to June 2014 were enrolled and prospectively followed *** characteristics were *** incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),progression of liver disease(increase in liver stiffness or occurrence of decompensated complication),and HCV recurrence was all *** accumulative and annualized incidence rates(AIRs)of these adverse events were analyzed,and the risk factors were also ***:In total,151 patients reached a median follow-up time of 103 *** them,two had an incidence of HCC during the surveillance with AIR of 0.68%(95%CI:0.00-1.63%).Six patients showed progression of liver disease with AIR of 2.05%(95%CI:0.42%-3.68%).Three patients who had risky behaviors encountered HCV *** cirrhotic patients faced higher risk of poor prognosis than non-cirrhotic patients,including HCC and progression of liver disease(AIR:6.17%vs.1.42%,P=0.039).Conclusions:The incidence of HCC and progression of liver disease was evident in PR responders during the long-term follow-up period,but the risk level was *** responders were more vulnerable to develop HCC post SVR24 compared with non-cirrhotic *** recurrence was rare in responders with SVR24 who had corrected their risky behaviors.

Diabetic macular edema in proliferative stage treated with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor agent and triamcinolone acetonide by laser-based strategies

AIM： To appraise the effect of treatment for diabetic macular edema（DME） in proliferative stage with sufficient panrentinal photocoagulation（PRP） therapy and intravitreal injections（IV） Conbercept and posterior subtenon＇s triamcinolone acetonide（STTA） sequential ***： This prospective clinical randomized controlled trial of cross-over design was conducted in three phases. The participants included cases of DME in proliferative stage. They were divided into two groups and treated with PRP before enrollment. Group A were treated with IVConbercept 0.5 mg for one month in the 1^st phase. Group B were treated with STTA 40 mg（twice per two weeks）. The interventions were exchanged in the second phase（2mo） between the two groups. In the third phase（3-6mo） no other treatment was given. Best corrected visual acuity（BCVA）, central macular thickness（CMT） measured by OCT and complications were ***： After phase I： in Group A, BCVA improved from 0.201±0.17 to 0.37±0.24（F=5.88, P=0.004）. CMT changed from 449±155.10 to 304.1±84.70 μm（F=14.9, P〈0.01）. In Group B, BCVA changed from 0.195±0.19 to 0.26±0.20（F=0.76, P=0.41） while CMT changed from 463.82±152.92 to 366.00±115.40 μm（F=3.70, P〈0.03）. The improvement of BCVA was better in Group A（P〈0.05）. After phase II： in Group A, BCVA raised to 0.47±0.27（F=0.26, P〈0.01）, CMT reduced to 260.67±62.97 μm（F=-188.3, P〈0.01）; in Group B, BCVA raised to 0.51±0.26（F=0.31, P〈0.01）, CMT reduced to 261.93±50.15 μm（F=-201.9, P〈0.01）. But there were no difference between two groups（P〉0.05）. After phase III： in Group A, BCVA maintained 0.42±0.25（F=0.22, P=0.001）, CMT maintained 267.8±58.34 μm,（F=-0.27, P〈0.01）; in Group B, BCVA was 0.47±0.25（F=-0.27, P〈0.01）, CMT was 272.71±49.16 μm（F=-191.1, P〈0.01）. Effectiveness and Safety of Moxibustion Robots on Primary Dysmenorrhea:A Randomized Controlled Pilot Trial

Objective To conduct a pilot trial to explore the effectiveness and safety of moxibustion robots in treating primary dysmenorrhea(PD)and evaluate its feasibility in *** A total of 70 participants with PD were allocated to either moxibustion robot(MR)group(35 cases)or manual moxibustion(MM)group(35 cases)using computer-generated *** acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4)was selected to receive moxa heat *** groups of participants were given 3 menstrual cycles of MM and MR treatment respectively(once a day,5 days a session)and received another 3 menstrual cycles *** degree of pain was evaluated by short-form McGill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ)and the symptoms of dysmenorrhea were evaluated by Cox Menstrual Symptom Scale(CMSS).The safety was measured by the occurrence rate of adverse events(AEs),including burns(blisters,red and swollen),itching,bowel changes,menstrual cycle disorder,menorrhagia and fatigue,*** A total of 62 patients completed the trial,32 in MR group and 30 in MM *** with baseline,scores of SF-MPQ and CMSS significantly decreased in both groups(P no significant difference was observed between the two groups in the 3rd and 6th menstrual cycles(P>0.05).The total occurrence rate of AEs in MR group was 2.1%,which was significantly lower than MM group(7.2%,P MR has the same effect as MM at SF-MPQ and CMSS in patients with ***,MR is safer than MM(Trial registration ***1800018236).

Computed tomography-based score model/nomogram for predicting technical and midterm outcomes in transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt treatment for symptomatic portal cavernoma

A 48 year-old Chinese woman suffering from polyarthritis,irregular fever and trichomadesis was admitted to the hospital.A diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)was made based on polyarthritis,pancytopenia,reduced complement 3,multiple positive autoantibodies,a positive Coomb’s test and protein in her *** addition,splenomegaly was detected during physical examination and confirmed by abdominal ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging,indicating that the patient had SLE and portal *** negative investigations ruled out the possibility of *** patient was diagnosed with active SLE complicated by noncirrhotic portal hypertension(NCPH)without liver histopathology,due to the patient’s refusal for liver *** vein diameter and splenomegaly decreased following treatment with methylprednisolone,hydroxychloroquine and metoprolol *** date,SLE complicated by NCPH has rarely been reported,as it is under-recognized clinically as well as *** we describe a case of SLE complicated by NCPH and review the literature for its characteristics,which may contribute to improving the recognition of NCPH and reducing missed and delayed diagnosis of this disorder.

Development of a computed tomography-based radiomics nomogram for prediction of transarterial chemoembolization refractoriness in hepatocellular carcinoma

Comparison of visual quality after implantation of Al-UV and SN60WF aspheric intraocular lens
