Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction as an adjuvant treatment for mild/moderately severe hypertriglyceridemic acute pancreatitis: A retrospective study

Hypertriglyceridemia is the third leading cause of acute pancreatitis(AP),and its incidence is *** to its relatively insidious etiology,it is easy to be ignored in the early *** China,Chaiqin Chengqi Decoction(CQCQD)has long been employed for treating *** To evaluate the effectiveness of CQCQD in patients diagnosed with mild/moderately severe hypertriglyceridemic AP(HTG-AP).METHODS In this study,the clinical data of 39 patients with HTG-AP admitted from January 2019 to November 2022 were *** changes of blood lipids,gastrointestinal symptoms,and abdominal pain before and after treatment were analyzed and compared between the two *** Twenty patients were treated with the conventional HTG-AP regimen,and 19 patients were additionally treated with *** receiving treatment,the triglycerides(TG)level of the CQCQD group was lower than that of the CQCQD group(3.14±0.25 mmol/L vs 4.96±0.47 mmol/L,P<0.01).After 3 d of treatment,the patients in the CQCQD group had more bowel movements than the control group(2.51±0.25 times vs 1.00±0.17 times,P=0.01).The gastrointestinal function of most patients returned to normal,and the acute gastrointestinal injury score was significantly lower than that of the control group(0.11±0.07 vs 0.42±0.11,P<0.01).CONCLUSION In patients with HTG-AP,CQCQD can significantly reduce the TG level,shorten the recovery time of defecation,significantly improve the gastrointestinal function.

Disparities in the Levels of Whole-Blood Epstein-Barr Virus between the Cancer and Non-Cancer Populations in Zhejiang,China

Even-odd layer-dependent multiferroic in freestanding rare-earth orthorhombic perovskite

Freestanding oxide perovskites possess strong interlayer coupling between adjacent atomic layers,thus exerting a determinative effect on the magnetism and ferroelectricity of these atomic-scale ***,we propose an effective strategy to manipulate magnetism and ferroelectricity in freestanding rare-earth orthorhombic perovskite via modulation of layer *** performing first-principles calculations,an even-odd oscillation is demonstrated in few-layer GdAlO_(3)perovskite(GAP).Specifically,odd-layer systems with charged atomic layers are ferromagnetic polar metals,while even-layer systems are antiferromagnetic ferroelectric *** thickness-dependent magnetic phase transition originates from carrier doping,as rationalized by the Stoner ***,we demonstrate the promotion of in-plane ferroelectricity via the concurrent application of two distinct antiferrodistortive displacements,each driven by formation and breaking of *** multiferroic phases may emerge in other transition metal oxide perovskites supporting multiple valence states,e.g.,few-layer Gd MO_(3)(M=V,Cr,Mn,and Ni).This work puts forward a strategy for layer thickness engineering of magnetism and ferroelectricity in 2D oxide perovskite multiferroic materials.

Functional analysis of the novel mitochondrial tRNA^(Trp)and tRNA^(Ser(AGY))variants associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus

BACKGROUND Mutations in mitochondrial tRNA(mt-tRNA)genes that result in mitochondrial dysfunction play important roles in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).We previously reported a large Chinese pedigree with maternally inherited T2DM that harbors novel mt-tRNA^(Trp)A5514G and tRNA^(Ser(AGY))C12237T variants,however,the effects of these mt-tRNA variants on T2DM progression are largely *** To assess the potential pathogenicity of T2DM-associated m.A5514G and m.C12237T variants at genetic,molecular,and biochemical *** Cytoplasmic hybrid(cybrid)cells carrying both m.A5514G and m.C12237T variants,and healthy control cells without these mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)variants were generated using trans-mitochondrial *** features,including mt-tRNA steady-state level,levels of adenosine triphosphate(ATP),mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP),reactive oxygen species(ROS),mtDNA copy number,nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)/NADH ratio,enzymatic activities of respiratory chain complexes(RCCs),8-hydroxy-deoxyguanine(8-OhdG),malondialdehyde(MDA),and superoxide dismutase(SOD)were examined in cell lines with and without these mt-tRNA *** Compared with control cells,the m.A5514G variant caused an approximately 35%reduction in the steady-state level of mt-tRNA^(Trp)(P<0.0001);however,the m.C12237T variant did not affect the mt-tRNA^(Ser(AGY))steady-state level(P=0.5849).Biochemical analysis revealed that cells with both m.A5514G and m.C12237T variants exhibited more severe mitochondrial dysfunctions and elevated oxidative stress than control cells:ATP,MMP,NAD+/NADH ratio,enzyme activities of RCCs and SOD levels were markedly decreased in mutant cells(P<0.05 for all measures).By contrast,the levels of ROS,8-OhdG and MDA were significantly increased(P<0.05 for all measures),but mtDNA copy number was not affected by m.A5514G and m.C12237T variants(P=0.5942).CONCLUSION The m.A5514G variant impaired mt-tRNA^(Trp)metabolism,which subsequent

Tenofovir alafenamide fumarate(TAF)has been endorsed by guidelines for blockade ofmother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus(HBV),given that its efficacy and safety are comparable to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(TDF).However,there is a lack of comparative studies regarding the treatment efficacy in patients with diverse viral *** study retrospectively analyzed 96 hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)–positive pregnant women with HBV DNA levels of≥2×10^(5) IU/*** on viral loads(HBV DNA levels),participants in the TAF and TDF groups were stratified into three subgroups,namely,the High-G(titer≥8 log10 IU/mL),Middle-G(7 log10 IU/mL≤titer<8 log10 IU/mL)and Low-G(titer<7 log10 IU/mL)*** primary endpoint was effectiveness of TAF and TDF in patients with varying viral loads,whereas secondary endpoints were hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)positivity in infants at 7 to 12 months and the safety profile for mothers and *** with baseline levels,median HBV DNA levels in mothers were decreased by 4.51 and 4.09 log10 IU/mL in the TAF andTDF groups(P=0.04)predelivery,*** the High-G subgroup,the titers were significantly lower in the TAF group(P=0.045).A higher proportion of patients experienced a virus decline of≥4 log10 IU/mL in the TAF group compared with the TDF group,with rates of 78.26% versus 58%(P=0.034),***,the median serum phosphate levels significantly decreased frombaseline to predelivery in the TDF group(P=0.04).Finally,infants in both cohorts tested negative for HBsAg at 7–12 months after ***,our findings indicate that TAF can be considered the preferred option for the treatment of HBeAgpositive pregnant women with HBV DNA levels of≥8 log10 IU/mL.

Optimization of cultural conditions for thermostable β-1,3-1,4-glucanase production by Bacillus subtilis ZJF-1A5

The optimization of cultural conditions for β glucanase production by Bacillus subtilis ZJF 1A5 was investigated in flask trials. Temperature had great effect on β glucanase production which maximized at optimal temperature of 37℃ and decreased significantly when temperature was over 37℃.Charge quantity affected β glucanase production significantly. Adding oxygen vector N dodecane or acetic ether benefited β glucanase production, but it depended on the concentration and charge quantity. The results of fractional factorial design showed that age and size of inoculum and shaking speed were the key factors affecting β glucanase production and the cultivation time span to reach the highest β glucanase activity. The optimal cultural conditions for β glucanase production obtained with CCD were as follows: inoculum age and size (16 h, 3.82%(v/v)), shaking speed 210 r/min, charge quantity of 30 mL in 250 mL flask and initial pH 7.0, cultured at 37℃ for 50 h. Repeated experimental results accorded with those predicted by a second order polynomial model. The amount of β glucanase, α amylase and neutral protease produced by B subtilis ZJF 1A5 was associated partially with cell growth. Those three enzymes' activities increased following the cell growth and increased significantly when cells entered the stationary phase.
