Study of damage behavior and repair effectiveness of patch repaired carbon fiber laminate under quasi-static indentation loading

Damage caused due to low-velocity impacts in composites leads to substantial deterioration in their residual strength and eventually provokes structural *** work presents an experimental investigation on the effects of different patch and parent laminate stacking sequences on the enhancement of impact strength of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers(CFRP)composites by utilising the adhesively bonded external patch repair *** evolution study is also performed with the aid of Acoustic Emission(AE).Two different quasi-isotropic configurations were selected for the parent laminate,viz.,[45°/45°/0°/0°]s and[45°/0°/45°/0°]*** Static Indentation(QSI)test was performed on both the pristine laminates,and damage areas were detected by using the C-scan inspection *** laminates were repaired by using a single-sided patch of two different configurations,viz.,[45°/45°/45°/45°]and[45°/0°/0°/45°],and employing a circular plug to fill the damaged *** different combinations of repaired laminates with two configurations of each parent and patch laminate were produced,which were further subjected to the QSI *** results reveal the effectiveness of the repair method,as all the repaired laminates show higher impact resistance compared to the respective pristine *** of[45°/0°/0°/45°]configuration when repaired by taking[45°/45°/0°/0°]s and[45°/0°/45°/0°]s as parents exhibited 68%and 73%higher peak loads,respectively,than the respective pristine ***,parent and patch of configuration[45°/0°/45°/0°]s and[45°/0°/0°/45°],respectively,attain the highest peak load,whereas[45°/45°/0°/0°]s and[45°/45°/45°/45°]combinations possess the most gradual decrease in the load.

Fuzzy Reliability and Availability of System under a Calendar-based Inspection Involving Multiple Failures and Its Application to Wind Turbine System

Uncertainty is an important factor that needs to be considered while analyzing the performance of any engineering *** order to quantify uncertainty,fuzzy set theory is frequently used by most of researchers,including energy system *** to the classical reliability theory,component lifetimes have crisp parameters,but due to uncertainty and inaccuracy in data,it is sometimes very difficult to determine the exact values of these parameters in real-world *** overcome this difficulty in the current research,failure and repair rates were taken as triangular fuzzy numbers to determine the fuzzy availability of a system undergoing calendar-based periodic inspection subject to multiple failure modes(FMs).It was assumed that each component in the system had an exponential failure rate and repair rate with fuzzy *** FMs were explicitly taken into account when a functional state of the system was *** FM had a random failure *** the occurrence of any failure,a random time was selected for the relevant corrective repair *** proposed research was studied for one of the major sources of green energy,namely a wind turbine system wherein all the derived propositions have been implemented on it.

Dynamical behaviors of a constant prey refuge ratio-dependent prey-predator model with Allee and fear effects

In this paper,we consider a nonlinear ratio-dependent prey-predator model with constant prey refuge in the prey *** Allee and fear phenomena are incorporated explicitly in the growth rate of the prey *** qualitative behaviors of the proposed model are investigated around the equilibrium points in *** bifurcation including its direction and stability for the model is also *** observe that fear of predation risk can have both stabilizing and destabilizing effects and induces bubbling phenomenon in the *** is also observed that for a fixed strength of fear,an increase in the Allee parameter makes the system unstable,whereas an increase in prey refuge drives the system toward ***,higher values of both the Allee and prey refuge parameters have negative impacts and the populations go to ***,we explore the variation of densities of the populations in different bi-parameter spaces,where the coexistence equilibrium point remains *** simulations are carried out to explore the dynamical behaviors of the system with the help of MATLAB software.

In the present study,rare earth samarium(Sm^(3+))substituted Ni-Cu spinel ferrites with the composition of Ni_(0.1)Cu_(0.9)Sm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(0≤x≤0.05 in steps of 0.01)were synthesized by using the citrate induced sol-gel auto combustion *** ferrites'structural,optical,magnetic,and dielectric studies were carried out using X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis),a vibrational sample magnetometer(VSM),and an LCR *** pure Ni-Cu ferrite exhibits a tetragonal structure owing to the presence of the John Tellar ion(Cu^(2+)).XRD patterns confirm that the tetragonal structure gradually transforms into the cubic spinel structure with samarium *** nano-scale structures of these ferrites were confirmed by the average crystallite size(10.11-20.99 nm)derived from the X-ray diffraction patterns,and grain size(42.60-83.36 nm)assessed from FESEM *** existence of elements according to their chemical composition was verified by using energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)*** absorption bands(v_(1) and v_(2))detected in FTIR transmission spectra below the wavenumber of 600 cm^(-1)reveal the stretching vibrations of M-O bonds in the spinel structure at tetrahedral and octahedral *** band gap ene rgy obtained from UV absorption reveals the semiconducting nature of the *** high saturation magnetization(M_(s))is noticed at 15 K temperature for x=0.02 composition as 32.98 emu/g,while at 300 K for x=0.01composition as 27.61 emu/*** suggested cation distribution is in good agreement with observed and predicted magnetic moment values at 300 *** expected behavior of ferrites reveals the observed dielectric constant,loss tangent,and ac-conductivity values in the frequency range of 20 Hz-20 ***-Cole plots confirm that the impedance contribution is attributed to grain boundaries.

Effect of interactions of two holes on tensile behavior of patch repaired carbon/epoxy woven laminates

The conventional case of patch repair involves bonding a patch over single damage/hole in the *** work investigates the effect of interaction of two holes on the tensile behavior patch repaired carbon epoxy woven *** specimens of[0°/45°/45°/0°]laminates were repaired with adhesively bonded two-ply[45°]2external *** different cases of drilled specimens were produced with different hole arrangements *** with single central hole(SH),with two holes aligned along the longitudinal axis(LH)and with two holes along transverse axis(TH).The two-hole specimens were repaired with two different types,*** large patches(SP)and with the two smaller patches(DP)of combined bonding area equal to the single large *** image correlation(DIC)was employed to capture strain *** results reveal the difference in the load transfer through the patches depending upon the arrangement of *** TH repaired specimen exhibit significant load recovery(SP-32.75%,DP-34.62%)while the LH specimens result in very marginal(SP-6.11%,DP-4.10%)recovery compared to their drilled *** TH specimen failed by crack growing through both the holes beneath the patch,while the LH specimens failed by the failure through only one *** use of single large patch over multiple holes and multiple small patches individually over each hole has no significant influence on load recovery.

On the Inclusion Ideal Graph of Semigroups

The inclusion ideal graph In(S)of a semigroup S is an undirected simple graph whose vertices are all the nontrivial left ideals of S and two distinct left ideals I,J are adjacent if and only if either I⊂J or J⊂*** purpose of this paper is to study algebraic properties of the semigroup S as well as graph theoretic properties of In(S).We investigate the connectedness of In(S)and show that the diameter of In(S)is at most 3 if it is *** also obtain a necessary and sufficient condition of S such that the clique number of In(S)is the number of minimal left ideals of ***,various graph invariants of In(S),***,planarity,girth,etc.,are *** a completely simple semigroup S,we investigate properties of In(S)including its independence number and matching ***,we obtain the automorphism group of In(S).

This paper deals with an in-depth analysis on the role of the microstructure phase of titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))precursor in sodium bismuth titanate(Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3),hereafter represented as NBT)ceramics prepared through the hydrothermal *** comparison of the grain size,microstructure,crystal structure,and electrical properties of the NBT ceramics is carried out using anatase and rutile TiO_(2).NBT ceramics with anatase TiO_(2)(denoted by NBT_(A))displayed superior dielectric and ferro/piezoelectric properties along with the additional functionality in terms of *** studies of functional properties such as piezoelectric,ferroelectric,and dielectric stressed the far-reaching influence of effects on grain *** mechanisms and functional properties of grain quantitative effects are also *** boundaries volume fraction increment has decreased the dielectric peak but increased the diffusiveness in the case of the NBT with rutile TiO_(2) precursor(denoted as NBT_(R)).Similarly,elastic stiffness increment restricts the movement of the domain wall and led to a decrement in remnant polarization along with an increase in the values of the corresponding piezoelectric coefficient in finegrain NBT_(R) samples.

Organophosphates(OPs)are an integral part of modern agriculture;however,due to overexploitation,OPs pesticides residues are leaching and accumulating in the soil,and groundwater contaminated terrestrial and aquatic food *** exposure to OPs could produce toxicity in insects,plants,animals,and *** are known for covalent inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme in pests and terrestrial/aquatic organisms,leading to nervous,respiratory,reproductive,and hepatic *** pesticides also disrupt the growth-promoting machinery in plants by inhibiting key enzymes,permeability,and trans-cuticular diffusion,which is crucial for plant *** use of OPs,directly/indirectly affecting human/environmental health,raise a thoughtful global *** a safe,reliable,economical,and eco-friendly methods for removing OPs pesticides from the environment is thus *** techniques coupled with microbes or microbial-biocatalysts are emerging as promising antidotes for OPs ***,we comprehensively review the current scenario of OPs pollution,their toxicity(at a molecular level),and the recent advancements in biotechnology(modified biocatalytic systems)for detection,decontamination,and bioremediation of OP-pesticides in polluted ***,the review focuses on onsite applications of OPs degrading enzymes(immobilizations/biosensors/others),and it also highlights remaining challenges with future approaches.
