The frst avian infuenza A (H7N9) viral infection in humans in zhejiang Province, China: a death report

This study reports the frst death caused by a novel avian infuenza A(H7N9)virus in zhejiang Province,*** patient had chronic hepatitis B and history of exposure to *** patient initially complained of diarrhea and infuenza-like symptoms on March 7 and 14 *** disease progressed to severe pneumonia,sustained hypoxia,and coagulation *** patient died on March 27 because of respiratory failure,multiple organ failure,and disseminated intravascular coagulation without oseltamivir *** H7N9 virus from zhejiang is highly similar to isolates obtained from Shanghai,Jiangsu,Anhui,*** of hemagglutinin,neuramidinase,and matrix genes indicated that the isolates share the same avian origin,have low virulence,and are sensitive to oseltamivir,but are resistant to *** the isolate that caused the fatality exhibited substitution of Q226I in the HA gene,which indicates a potentially enhanced human *** secondary transmission rate was 1.6%(2/125).Only two health workers presented with infuenza-like symptoms,and they subsequently tested negative for H7N9 *** conclusion,underlying disease,late diagnosis,and untimely antiviral treatment are possible high-risk factors for infections and death caused by the lowpathogenicity avian infuenza A(H7N9).Person-to-person transmission of the H7N9 virus was not detected among close contacts,but such transmission should be investigated in the *** and enhancing surveillance will help in the early discovery and diagnosis of suspected cases,which will reduce the number of severe cases and deaths.

Prevalence, genetic diversity, and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovine mastitis in zhejiang Province, China

This study was conducted to determine genetic diversity and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Staphylococcus aureus recovered from bovine mastiffs in zhejiang Province, China. Out of 3178 quarter milk samples from 846 lactating cows, among which 459 cows （54.3%） were found HMT positive, 890 quarters （28%） were found having subclinical mastitis. From 75 representative S. aureus isolates, 16 distinct types were identified by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis （PFGE）. Four major PFGE types （A, B, C, and D） accounted for 82.7% of all isolates, and type A （41.3%） was observed in multiple herds across the studied areas. Each region was found to have a predominant type： Hangzhou type A （64.1%）, Ningbo type C （34.5%） and type B （23.1%）, Jinhua type D （53.3%）, and Taizhou type C （62.5%）. Results of antimicrobial susceptibility tests showed that 90.7% of the isolates were resistant to at least one antimicrobial. Resistance to penicillin and ampicillin （77.3%）, tetracycline （60.0%）, or erythromycin （48.0%） was observed. The bacteria resistant to multiple antibiotics such as penicillin, ampicillin, tetracycline, and erythromycin were commonly found. The information obtained from this study is useful for designing specific control programs for bovine S. aureus mastitis in this region.

COVID-19 vaccine uptake and its determinants among teenagers and their parents in zhejiang, China: An online cross-sectional study

Objective:To examine COVID-19 vaccine uptake and its determinants among teenagers and their parents in zhejiang,***:An online cross-sectional study was conducted among parents of teenagers in zhejiang,China from May 1 to 31,*** were interpreted via univariate and multivariate analyses using the statistical package for the social sciences(SPSS)***:A total of 11115(96.11%)participants and 11449(99.00%)of their children in zhejiang,China had been vaccinated against *** whose parents did not receive COVID-19 vaccination were 19 times(aOR 18.96,95%CI 12.36-29.08)more likely to be unvaccinated than their *** addition,children with no previous influenza vaccination,those whose parents doubted the COVID-19 vaccine’s safety or effectiveness,were 6.11 times(aOR 6.11,95%CI 2.80-13.34),8.27 times(aOR 8.27,95%CI 5.33-12.83),and 2.69 times(aOR 2.69,95%CI 1.11-6.50)more likely to be unvaccinated than their counterparts,***-19 vaccine uptake varied between different sociodemographic ***,the odds of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine decreased as age and education level *** main refusal reasons claimed by participants were that they had medical conditions that may not qualify them for vaccination(53.78%),followed by safety concerns about the vaccine(13.56%),not knowing where to get vaccinated(6.44%),and concerns about fertility issues(5.56%).Conclusions:Despite a highly encouraging level of COVID-19 vaccine uptake in zhejiang,China,the elderly and highly educated people had lower COVID-19 vaccine *** is suggested that tailored health education strategies should be taken to increase the COVID-19 vaccine uptake in such ***,with vaccination rates at such a high level,the pandemic is still ongoing,and public confidence in vaccines may ***,sufficient evidence-based information regarding COVID-19 vaccines should be provided to the public.

Evaluation of Precipitation in Multi-Generation Reanalyses with Land Observations over zhejiang Province

Based on various statistical indices,the abilities of multi-generation reanalyses,namely the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 1(R1),the NCEP-DOE Reanalysis 2(R2)and the NCEP Climate Forecast System Reanalysis(CFSR),to reproduce the spatiotemporal characteristics of precipitation over zhejiang Province are comprehensively *** mean absolute bias percentages for three reanalyses are 20%(R1),10%(R2)and 37%(CFSR).R2(R1)gives the best(worst)general depiction of the spatial characteristics of the observed precipitation climatology,whereas a significant wet bias is noticed in the *** reanalyses reasonably reproduce the interannual variability with the correlation coefficients of 0.72(R1),0.72(R2)and 0.84(CFSR).All reanalyses well represent the first two modes of the observed precipitation through Empirical Orthogonal Function analysis,with CFSR giving the best capture of the principal *** root-mean-square error(RMSE)is the largest(smallest)in the CFSR(R2).The large RMSE of CFSR in summer(especially in June)contributes mostly to its systematic wet *** 2001,the wet bias of CFSR substantially weakens,probably attributed to increasing observations assimilated in the *** a monthly basis,the percentage of neutral bias cases are similar for all reanalyses,while the ratio of positive(negative)bias cases for CFSR is distinctly larger(smaller)than that of R1 and *** proportions of negative bias cases for R1 and R2 begin to increase after 2001 while keeping stable for *** a daily basis,all reanalyses give good performances of reproducing light rain;however,the reflection of moderate rain and heavier rain by the CFSR is better than R1 and ***,despite being a third-generation reanalysis product,the CRSR does not exhibit comprehensive superiorities over R1 and R2 in all aspects on a regional scale.

Genetic diversity analysis of Hepatacodium miconioides at different altitude in Tiantai Mountain,zhejiang Province,China and its relationship with environmental factors

The genetic diversity within and among populations of Hepatacodium miconioides collected at three different altitudes in Tiantai Mountain,zhejiang Province and its relationships to environmental factors were analyzed by random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD)*** using 12 random primers of 60 plants and 122 repetitive loci were *** percentage of polymorphic loci of three populations ranged from 18.85%to 23.77%with an average of 21.86%,indicating the relatively low genetic diversity of *** average Shannon index of phenotypic diversity(0.1329)and Nei index(0.0925)within populations were relatively low.A distinct genetic differentiation existed among populations of *** in spite of the relatively small geographical *** average genetic diversity within populations of *** accounted for 33.58%of the total genetic diversity while the genetic diversity among populations accounted for 66.42%as estimated by the Shannon index of phenotypic diversity,The genetic differentiation among populations of *** was 0.6546,as estimated by Nei *** gene flow estimated from GST was only 0.2656 and it indicated that gene flow among populations of *** was relatively *** mean value of the genetic identity among populations of *** was 0.7126 and the average of genetic distance of *** was *** genetic identity between populations at the elevation of 990 m and at the elevation of 780 m was the *** genetic identity between population at the elevation 500 m and other two populations was relatively *** correlation analysis showed that the genetic diversity within populations was significantly related with the soil total nitrogen.

Assessment and mapping of environmental quality in agricultural soils of zhejiang Province, China

Heavy metal concentrations in agricultural soils of zhejiang Province were monitored to indicate the status of heavy metal contamination and assess environmental quality of agricultural soils. A total of 908 soil samples were collected from 38 counties in Zbejiang Province and eight heavy metal （Cd, Cr, Pb, Hg, Cu, Zn, Ni and As） concentrations had been evaluated in agricultural soil. It was found 775 samples were unpolluted and 133 samples were slightly polluted and more respectively, that is approximately 14.65% agricultural soil samples had the heavy metal concentration above the threshold level in this province by means of Nemerow＇s synthetical pollution index method according to the second grade of Standards for Soil Environmental Quality of China （GB15618- 1995）. Contamination of Cd was the highest, followed by Ni, As and Zn were lower correspondingly. Moreover, Inverse Distance Weighted （IDW） interpolation method was used to make an assessment map of soil environmental quality based on the Nemerow＇s pollution index and the soil environmental quality was categorized into five grades. Moreover, ten indices were calculated as input parameters for principal component analysis （PCA） and the principal components （PCs） were created to compare environmental quality of different soils and regions. The results revealed that environmental quality of tea soils was better than that of paddy soils, vegetable soils and fruit soils. This study indicated that GIS combined with multivariate statistical approaches proved to be effective and powerful tool in the mapping of soil contamination distribution and the assessment of soil environmental quality on provincial scale, which is beneficial to environmental protection and management decision-making by local government.

Scheme of Weather-Based Indemnity Indices for Insuring Against Freeze Damage to Citrus Orchards in zhejiang,China

We design a weather-based indemnity index for the insurance against freeze damage to citrus orchards so as to provide technological support for the development of policy-based agriculture. The indices are prepared by separating a relative meteorological yield from the yield that is dependent on tree age, high-yield and low-yield years, and environmental factors, and then using a risk assessment scheme to determine the percentage yield reduction due to the meteorological hazard. We thus develop a set of indices associated with cold temperature damage with which to construct more severe weather indices in conjunction with the yield percentage decrease. We then combine the insured regional citrus yield index with the insured meteorological counterpart to obtain a weather-based indemnity index for the varying degree of freeze damage to crops. When the freeze damage index （FDI） is greater than -7.0℃ for the coastal belt of zhejiang Province, China, or greater than -9.0℃ for other regions of zhejiang, weather-based indemnity index （WBII） is zero, meaning there is no compensation; when the FDI is from -7.0 to -7.9℃ for the coastal belt or from -9.0 to -9.9℃ for other regions, the WBII is 1 with 50% compensation; when the FDI is from -8.0 to -8.9℃ for the coastal belt or from -10.0 to -10.9℃ for other regions, the WBII is 2 with 70% compensation; and when the FDI is less than -9.0℃ for the coastal belt or less than -11.0℃ for other regions, the WBII is 3 with 90% compensation. The weather indemnity indices of insured orchards are developed in the interest of owners, thereby eliminating adverse selection and moral hazard issues and providing timely recompense from the insurer, and resolving the problem of high indemnity cost in agricultural insurance.
