The main objective of this study is to investigate the buckling analysis of CCSs reinforced by CNTs subjected to combined loading of hydrostatic pressure and axial compression resting on the twoparameter elastic foundation(T-P-EF).It is one of the first attempts to derive the governing equations of the CCSs reinforced with CNTs,based on a generalized first-order shear deformation shell theory(FSDST)which includes shell-foundation *** adopting the extended mixing rule,the effective material properties of CCSs reinforced by CNTs with linear distributions are approximated by introducing some efficiency *** carbon nanotube distribution in the matrix,*** distribution(U)and V and X-types linear distribution are taken into *** stability equations are solved by using the Galerkin procedure to determine the combined buckling loads(CBLs)of the structure selected *** numerical illustrations cover CBLs characteristics of CCSs reinforced by CNTs in the presence of the ***,a parametric study is carried out to study the influences of the foundation parameters,the volume fraction of carbon nanotubes and the types of reinforcement on the CBLs.

The Arabidopsis FRA1 kinesin contributes to the organization of cellulose microfibrils through an unknown mechanism. The cortical localization of this kinesin during interphase raises the possibility that it transports cell wallrelated cargoes along cortical microtubules that either directly or indirectly influence cellulose microfibril patterning. To determine whether FRA1 is an authentic motor protein, we combined bulk biochemical assays and single molecule fluorescence imaging to analyze the motor properties of recombinant, GFP-tagged FRA1 containing the motor and coiled-coil domains （designated as FRAI（707）-GFP）. We found that FRAI（707）-GFP binds to microtubules in an ATP-dependent manner and that its ATPase activity is dramatically stimulated by the presence of microtubules. Using single molecule studies, we found that FRAI（707）-GFP moves processively along microtubule tracks at a velocity of about 0.4 μm s-1. In addition, we found that FRAI（707）-GFP is a microtubule plus-end-directed motor and that it moves along microtubules as a dimer. Interestingly, our single molecule analysis shows that the processivity of FRAI（707）-GFP is at least twice the processivity of conventional kinesin, making FRA1 the most processive kinesin to date. Together, our data show that FRA1 is a bona fide motor protein that has the potential to drive Iong-distance transport of cargo along cortical microtubules.

Stearic acid-gel method was used to prepare barium *** the samples show a cubic perovskite structure and thus no ferroelectricity is detected at room temperature.X-ray diffraction reveals that the grains can hardly grow even firing at high temperature so that the grain size in most of the samples is below the ferroelectric critical size.A tentative explanation is proposed of the peculiarities based on the nonstoichiometry at the surface layer.

To examine the importance of kin selection in shaping human societies, this study analyzed the kinship system practiced in traditional China for two millennia and teased apart its underlying genetic and other, presumably cultural, components. The results demonstrate that, in the traditional patrilineal Chinese family, both genetic relatedness and the cultural factor of generation were important in determining kinship status for male agnates （genetically related relatives）. For female agnates, however, only genetic relatedness was important. Another surprising finding was that the influence of gender was not as important as genetic relatedness. The most interesting finding in this study, however, was that kin selection and culture （i.e., seniority in generation and age） played vastly different roles in different lineages in the Chinese family： for collateral （indirect） agnates, genetic relatedness was the most important factor in determining their kinship status, but for lineal （direct） agnates, its importance was overridden by seniority in generation and age, a cultural factor. Several other bio-cultural factors also explained a considerable amount of variance in kinship status. Since kinship profoundly affected, and was often the foundation of, the legal and social systems in dynastic China, kin selection, while its strength may differ remarkably between lineal and collateral relatives, could act as a selective force in Chinese families

Heteroatom doping, precise composition control and rational morphology design are efficient strategies for producing novel nanocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction （ORR） in fuel cells. Herein, a cost-effective approach to synthesize nitrogen- and sulfur-codoped carbon nanowire aerogels using a hard templating method is proposed. The aerogels prepared using a combination of hydrothermal treatment and carbonization exhibit good catalytic activity for the ORR in alkaline solution. At the optimal annealing temperature and mass ratio between the nitrogen and sulfur precursors, the resultant aerogels show comparable electrocatalytic activity to that of a commercial Pt/C catalyst for the ORR. Importantly, the optimized catalyst shows much better long-term stability and satisfactory tolerance for the methanol crossover effect. These codoped aerogels are expected to have potential applications in fuel cells.

The earliest land plants faced a suite of abiotic stresses largely unknown to their aquatic algal ancestors. The descendants of these plants evolved two general mechanisms for survival in the relatively arid aerial environment. While the vascular plants or ＇tracheophytes＇ developed tissue specializations to transport and retain water, the other main lineages of land plants, the bryophytes, retained a simple, nonvascular morphology. The bryophytes--mosses, hornworts, and liverworts--continually undergo a co-equilibration of their water content with the surrounding environment and rely to a great extent on intrinsic cellular mechanisms to mitigate damage due to water stress. This short review will focus on the cellular and molecular responses to dehydration and rehydration in mosses, and offer insights into general plant responses to water stress.

Although Gregory Johnson’s models have influenced social theory in archaeology,few have applied or built upon these models to predict aspects of social organization,group size,or *** have been limited to small case ***,the relationship between a society’s scale and its information-processing capacities has been explored using the Seshat ***,I apply multiple-linear regression analysis to the Seshat data using Turchin and colleagues’9“complexity characteristics”(CCs)to further examine the relationship between the hierarchy CC and the remaining 8 CCs which include both aspects of a polity’s scale and aspects of what Kohler et ***“collective computation”.The results support Johnson’s ideas that stratification will generally increase with increases in a polity’s scale(population,territory);however,stratification is also higher when polities increase their developments in information-processing variables such as texts.

For an infinite set X, denote by Ω(X) the semigroup of all surjective mappings from X to X. We determine Green's relations in Ω(X), show that the kernel (unique minimum ideal) of Ω(X) exists and det ermine its elemen ts and cardinali ty. For a cou ntably infinite set X, we describe the elements of Ω(X) for which the D-class and J-class coincide. We compare the results for Ω(X) with the corresponding results for other transformation semigroups on X.
