Variable separation approach is introduced to solve the （2＋1）-dimensional KdV equation. A series of variable separation solutions is derived with arbitrary functions in system. We present a new soliton excitation model （24）. Based on this excitation, new soliton structures such as the multi-lump soliton and periodic soliton are revealed by selecting the arbitrary function appropriately.

Extended mapping approach is introduced to solve （2＋1）-dimensional Nizhnik-Novikov Veselov equation. A new type of variable separation solutions is derived with arbitrary functions in the model. Based on this excitation, rich localized structures such as multi-lump soliton and ring soliton are revealed by selecting the arbitrary function appropriately.

Nanopumps conducting fluids directionally through nanopores and nanochannels have attracted considerable interest for their potential applications in nanofiltration, water purification, and hydroelectric power generation Here, we demonstrate by molecular dynamics simulations that an excited vibrating carbon nanotube （CNT） cantilever can act as an efficient and simple nanopump. Water molecules inside the vibrating cantilever are driven by centrifugal forces and can undergo a continuous flow from the fixed to free ends of the CNT. Further extensive simulations show that the pumping function holds good not only for a single-file water chain in a narrow （6,6） CNT, but also for bulk-like water columns inside wider CNTs, and that the water flux increases monotonically with increasing diameter of the nanotube.

Zfyve16 (a.k.a. endofin or endosome-associated FYVE-domain protein), a member of the FYVE-domain protein family, is involved in endosomal trafficking and in TGF-β, BMP, and EGFR signaling. The FYVE protein SARA regulates the TGF-β signaling pathway by recruiting Smad2/3 and accelerating their phosphorylation, thereby altering their susceptibility to TGF-β-mediated T cell suppression. Zfyve16 binds to Smad4 and their binding affects the formation of Smad2/3-Smad4 complex in TGF-β signaling. However, the in vivo function of Zfyve16 remains unknown. In this study, we generated a Zfyve16 knockout mouse strain (Zfyve16KO) and examined its hematopoietic phenotypes and hematopoietic reconstruction ability. The proportion of Tcells in the peripheral blood of Zfyve16KO mice increases compared with that in wild-type mice. This finding is consistent with the role of Zfyve16 in facilitating TGF-β signaling. Unpredictably, B cell proliferation is inhibited in Zfyve16KO mice. The proliferation potential of Zfyve16KO B-lymphoid cells also significantly decreases in vitro. These results suggest that Zfyve16 inhibits the proliferation of T cells, possibly through the TGF-β signaling, but upregulates the proliferation of B-lymphoid cells.

Plants have evolved complex physical and chemical defense systems that allow them to withstand herbivory *** of a complex mixture of very-long-chain fatty acids(VLCFAs)and their derivatives,cuticular wax constitutes the first physical line of defense against ***,we report the function of Glossy 8(ZmGL8),which encodes a 3-ketoacyl reductase belonging to the fatty acid elongase complex,in orchestrating wax production and jasmonic acid(JA)-mediated defenses against herbivores in maize(Zea mays).The mutation of GL8 enhanced chemical defenses by activating the JA-dependent *** observed a trade-off between wax accumulation and JA levels across maize glossy mutants and 24 globally collected maize inbred *** addition,we demonstrated that mutants defective in cuticular wax biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana and maize exhibit enhanced chemical *** transcriptomic and lipidomic analyses indicated that the gl8 mutant confers chemical resistance to herbivores by remodeling VLCFA-related lipid metabolism and subsequent JA biosynthesis and *** results suggest that VLCFA-related lipid metabolism has a critical role in regulating the trade-offs between cuticular wax and JA-mediated chemical defenses.

Cyano substitution has been established as a viable approach to optimize the performance of all-small-molecule organic solar ***,the effect of cyano substitution on the dynamics of photo-charge generation remains largely ***,we report an ultrafast spectroscopic study showing that electron transfer is markedly promoted by enhanced intermolecular charge-transfer interaction in all-small-molecule blends with cyanided *** delocalized excitations,arising from intermolecular interaction in the moiety of cyano-substituted donor,undergo ultrafast electron transfer with a lifetime of∼3 ps in the *** contrast,some locally excited states,surviving in the film of donor without cyano substitution,are not actively involved in the charge *** findings well explain the performance improvement of devices with cyanided donors,suggesting that manipulating intermolecular interaction is an efficient strategy for device optimization.

This article studies on Cauchy’s function f （z） and its integral, （2πi）J[ f （z）] ≡ ■C f （t）dt/（t z） taken along a closed simple contour C, in regard to their comprehensive properties over the entire z = x ＋ iy plane consisted of the simply connected open domain D ＋ bounded by C and the open domain D outside C. （1） With f （z） assumed to be C n （n ∞-times continuously differentiable） z ∈ D ＋ and in a neighborhood of C, f （z） and its derivatives f （n）（z） are proved uniformly continuous in the closed domain D ＋ = [D ＋＋ C]. （2） Cauchy’s integral formulas and their derivatives z ∈ D ＋（or z ∈ D ） are proved to converge uniformly in D ＋（or in D = [D ＋C]）, respectively, thereby rendering the integral formulas valid over the entire z-plane. （3） The same claims （as for f （z） and J[ f （z）]） are shown extended to hold for the complement function F（z）, defined to be C n z ∈ D and about C. （4） The uniform convergence theorems for f （z） and F（z） shown for arbitrary contour C are adapted to find special domains in the upper or lower half z-planes and those inside and outside the unit circle ｜z｜ = 1 such that the four general- ized Hilbert-type integral transforms are proved. （5） Further, the singularity distribution of f （z） in D is elucidated by considering the direct problem exemplified with several typ- ical singularities prescribed in D . （6） A comparative study is made between generalized integral formulas and Plemelj’s formulas on their differing basic properties. （7） Physical sig- nificances of these formulas are illustrated with applicationsto nonlinear airfoil theory. （8） Finally, an unsolved inverse problem to determine all the singularities of Cauchy function f （z） in domain D , based on the continuous numerical value of f （z） z ∈ D ＋ = [D ＋＋ C], is presented for resolution as a conjecture.

DEAR EDITOR,Previous work based on molecular evidence has shown that most socially monogamous birds follow a genetic polyandrous mating ***,our knowledge about avian mating systems is heavily biased toward the north temperate zone,with data on tropical birds remaining relatively *** uneven distribution of both phylogenetic and spatial sampling has hampered our understanding and interpretation of *** this study,we investigated the frequency of extra-pair paternity(EPP)in a tropical population of yellow-bellied prinias(Prinia flaviventris)in Guangxi,southern China.A total of 129 individuals belonging to 24 nests were sampled,among which 12 out of 83 chicks(14.46%)in seven nests were found to be EPP *** nests in which all nestlings were sampled,only five out of 56 chicks were EPP offspring,accounting for an unbiased EPP rate of 8.93%.This rate is below the average rate of EPP in the family *** possible causes of EPP in prinias and the occurrence of EPP in birds with high resource investment and intensive parental care are *** study highlights the value of genome-wide markers in determining relatedness in a wild bird species without a reference genome.
