Calculating Model of Mass Action Concentrations for Mn-C Melts and Optimization of Thermodynamic Parameters

Based on the phase diagram, the coexistence theory of the metallic melt structure involving compoundformation and the regularity of melts containing saturated phase, a calculating model of mass action concentrationsfor Mn-C melts was formulated. According to the activities (or activity coefficients AM. and γc.), obtained by theUnified Interaction Parameter Model (UIPM), the thermodynamic parameters G and G at higher temperatures (1628～1873 K) were optimized by the repeated try and error method. It is testified that G G(873～1273 K) and G (298～1623 K), obtained at lower temperatures, can also be used at the above-mentionedhigher temperatures. The calculated N. and N agree well with ac. and ac obtained by UIPM. This result showsthat the deduced model can reflect the structural reality of Mn-C melts.

NiCu films about 60nm thick were deposited on MgO (001) substrates at 230℃ by DC plasma-sputtering at 2.7kV and 8mA in pure Ar gas using a Ni90Cu10 target. A DC bias voltage of 0, 60, 110 or 140V was applied to the substrate during deposition. The adhesion of the film to the substrate was studied using a scratch test as a function of . The application of is very effective in increasing the adhesion of the film to the substrate. In conclusion, the adhesion increases with cleaning the substrate surface by sputtering off impurity admolecules during the film initial formation due to the energetic Ar ion particle bombardment.

An algorithm for the computation of the unstructured real stability radius of high dimensional linearsystem is presented. Using the accurate formula of the real stability radius of 2-dimensional system linear systemchecks the algorithm. The result shows that the algorithm is reliable and efficient. As applications, the unstructuredreal stability radii of 2-dimensional Chua's circuit and 3-dimensional piecewise-linear system are calculated, thedynamical orbits of the corresponding perturbed systems are simulated.

The aim of this study was to observe the effects of urotensin Ⅱ (UII) on production of endothelin (ET) in rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). Cultured VSMCs incubated with various concentrations of UII were used to measure the YSMC 3H-TdR incorporation, the amount of ET mRNA and ET production in VSMCs. In this work we found that UII (10-10-10-8 mol/L) promoted VSMC 3H-TdR incorporation (47%-83%, P5) to 112.8% (P 5.36 and 7.12 pg/mL (P < 0.01). After 8 h incubation, the ET content released from VSMCs was 12.6, 12.07 and 17.17 pg/mL (P < 0.01). In addition, it was found that BQ123, a specific ETA receptor antagonist, obviously decreased the VSMC DNA synthesis induced by

The effects of stress components on nucleation sites and propagation directions of stress cor- rosion cracks in brass were investigated with specimens under mode Ⅱ and mode Ⅲ loadings. The results indicated that under mode Ⅱ loading,stress corrosion cracks nucleated on the site with maximum normal stress component and propagated along the plane perpendieular to the maximum normal stress,under mode Ⅲ loading,the stress corrosion crack was not evident on the 45°plane due to the general corrosion in aqueous solution with high NH_4OH concentra- tion,while stress corroded in aqueous solution with low NH_4OH concentration, numerous cracks with spacings of 10—150μm were found on the 45°plane with maximum normal stress and no stress corrosion cracks was observed on the plane with maximum shear stress.

According to phase diagrams, measured activities as well as the coexistence theory of motallic melts structure involving compound formation, the calculating models of mass action concentrations for Ni-Mn and Co-Mn melts are formulated and their thermodynamic parameters are optimized. As a result, the calculated mass action concentrations agree well with the corresponding measured activities, showing that these models can reflect the structural characteristics of both Ni-Mn and Co-Mn melts.

Microstructural Features During Strain Induced Ferrite Transformation in 08 and 20Mn Steels

The microstructure evolution during strain induced ferrite transformation was followed in thermal-simulation tests of clean 08 and 20Mn steels. The influences of carbon equivalence and initial austenite grain size on ferrite grain refinement and the volume fraction of ferrite during straining were inspected. The results revealed that the accelerating effect of ferrite transformation by strain was increased as the carbon equivalence decreased. However, finer ferrite grains were obtained at higher carbon content. At strain of similar to1.5 ferrite grains less than 3 mum and 2 mum can be obtained in 08 and 20Mn steels respectively. Whereas the ferrite grain refinement in 08 steel was due to both effects of strain induced transformation and ferrite dynamic recrystallization, that in 20Mn was mainly due to strain induced transformation. Heavy strain can produce fine ferrite grains in coarse austenite grained 08 steel, but it would lead to band microstructure in coarse austenite grained 20Mn.

The prediction and control criterion of both the wrinkle limit and fracture limit on the cylindrical cup deep-drawing are given, and the prediction and control diagram of both the wrinkle limit and fracture limit are also given. The results show that it is suitable for no-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing, narrow-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing, wide-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing/expanding compound forming and rigid punch expanding forming.

The artificial neural network (ANN) and the pattern recognition were applied to study the correlation of enthalpies of fusion for divalent rare earth halides with their microstructural parameters,such as ionic radius and electronegativity. The model,represented by a back-propagation netal network, was trained with a 12 set of published data for divalent rare earth halides and then was used to predict the unknown ones. Also the criterion equations were ptesented to determine the enthalpies of fuSion for divalent rare earth halides using pattern recognition in mis work. The results from the model in ANN and criterion equations are in very good agreement with reference data.
