There are urgent calls for new approaches to map the global urban conditions of complexity,diffuseness,diversity,and ***,existing methods mostly focus on mapping urbanized areas as bio physical ***,based on the continuum of urbanity framework,we developed an approach for cross-scale urbanity map-ping from town to city and urban megaregion with different spatial resolutions using the Google Earth *** approach was developed based on multi-source remote sensing data,Points of Interest-Open Street Map(POIs-OSM)big data,and the random forest regression *** approach is scale-independent and revealed significant spatial variations in urbanity,underscoring differences in urbanization patterns across megaregions and between urban and rural *** was observed transcending traditional urban boundaries,diffusing into rural settlements within non-urban *** finding of urbanity in rural communities far from urban areas challenges the gradient theory of urban-rural development and *** mapping livelihoods,lifestyles,and connectivity simultaneously,urbanity maps present a more comprehensive characterization of the complex-ity,diffuseness,diversity,and connectivity of urbanized areas than that by land cover or population density *** helps enhance the understanding of urbanization beyond biophysical *** approach can provide a multifaceted understanding of urbanization,and thereby insights on urban and regional sustainability.

Energy Storage Operation Modes in Typical Electricity Market and Their Implications for China

As the Chinese government proposes ambitious plans to promote low-carbon transition,energy storage will play a pivotal role in China’s future power ***,due to the lack of a mature electricity market environment and corresponding mechanisms,current energy storage in China faces problems such as unclear operational models,insufficient cost recovery mechanisms,and a single investment entity,making it difficult to support the rapid development of the energy storage *** contrast,European and American countries have already embarked on certain practices in energy storage operation *** exploration of key issues such as investment entities,market participation forms,and cost recovery channels in both front and back markets,a wealth of mature experiences has been ***,this paper first summarizes the existing practices of energy storage operation models in North America,Europe,and Australia’s electricity markets separately from front and back markets,finding that perfect market mechanisms and reasonable subsidy policies are among the main drivers for promoting the rapid development of energy storage ***,combined with the actual development of China’s electricity market,it explores three key issues affecting the construction of costsharing mechanisms for energy storage under market conditions:Market participation forms,investment and operation modes,and cost recovery ***,in line with the development expectations of China’s future electricitymarket,suggestions are proposed fromfour aspects:Market environment construction,electricity price formation mechanism,cost sharing path,and policy subsidy mechanism,to promote the healthy and rapid development of China’s energy storage industry.

Cymbidium(Orchidaceae:Epidendroideae),with around 60 species,is widely-distributed across Southeast Asia,providing a nice system for studying the processes that underlie patterns of biodiversity in the ***,phylogenetic relationships of Cymbidium have not been well resolved,hampering investigations of species diversification and the biogeographical history of this *** this study,we construct a plastome phylogeny of 56 Cymbidium species,with four well-resolved major clades,which provides a framework for biogeographical and diversification rate *** dating and biogeographical analyses show that Cymbidium likely originated in the region spanning northern IndoBurma to the eastern Himalayas during the early Miocene(~21.10 Ma).It then rapidly diversified into four major clades in East Asia within approximately a million years during the middle *** *** to the adjacent regions(Borneo,Philippines,and Sulawesi)primarily occurred during the Pliocene-Pleistocene *** analyses indicate that the net diversification rate of Cymbidium has decreased since its origin,and is positively associated with changes in temperature and monsoon *** hydrothermal conditions brought by monsoon intensification in the early Miocene possibly contributed to the initial rapid diversification,after which the net diversification rate was reduced with the cooling climate after the middle *** transition from epiphytic to terrestrial habits may have enabled adaptation to cooler environments and colonization of northern niches,yet without a significant effect on diversification *** study provides new insights into how monsoon activity and temperature changes affected the diversification dynamics of plants in Southeast Asia.

Efficient continuous synthesis of 2-hydroxycarbazole and 4-hydroxycarbazole in a millimeter scale photoreactor

2-Hydroxycarbazole and 4-hydroxycarbazole are important chemicals with extensive applications in optoelectronic materials and pharmaceutical *** of the art yield of 2-hydroxycarbazole is~30%and the reaction time is typically in hours or ***,we developed a green route for the continuous and high-throughput synthesis of 2-hydroxycarbazole and 4-hydroxycarbazole via photochemical intramolecular cyclization of 3–hydroxy-2–chloro-diphenylamine using a self-designed millimeter scale photoreactor,which was designed based on sizing-up and numbering-up strategies for a decent liquid holdup(6.8 m L)and fabricated via femtosecond laser engraving *** photochemical synthesis was carried out continuously under the illumination of 365 nm UV-LED with dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent and potassium t-butoxide as *** was found that under optimized conditions a 2-hydroxycarbazole yield of 31.6%and a 4-hydroxycarbazole yield of 11.1%were obtained with a residence time of 1 *** to semibatch operations,the reaction time was shortened by 1–2 orders of *** a result,a throughput of 11.3 g/day 2-hydroxycarbazole and 4.0 g/day 4-hydroxycarbazole can be achieved from the *** was proposed that the short reaction time and high product yield are resulted from higher photon transfer rates and more uniform photon distribution provided by the millimeter scale photoreactor,which enhances the reaction rates and mitigates overreaction.
