According to Kirchhoff's radiation law, the spectral-directional absorptivity(α) and spectral-directional emissivity(e) of an object are widely believed to be identical, which places a fundamental limit on photonic energy conversion and *** introduction of Weyl semimetals and magneto-optical(MO) materials into photonic crystals makes it possible to violate Kirchhoff's law, but most existing work only report the unequal absorptivity and emissivity spectra in a single band, which cannot meet the requirements of most practical applications. Here, we introduce a defect layer into the structure composed of one-dimensional(1D) magnetophotonic crystal and a metal layer, which realizes dual-band nonreciprocal thermal radiation under a 3-T magnetic field with an incident angle of 60°. The realization of dual-band nonreciprocal radiation is mainly due to the Fabry-Perot(FP) resonance occurring in the defect layer and the excitation of Tamm plasmon, which is proved by calculating the magnetic field distribution. In addition, the effects of incident angle and structural parameters on nonreciprocity are also *** is more, the number of nonreciprocal bands could be further increased by tuning the defect layer thickness. When the defect layer thickness increases to 18.2 μm, tri-band nonreciprocal thermal radiation is realized due to the enhanced number of defect modes in the photonic band gap and the FP resonance occurring in the defect layer. Finally, the effect of defect location on nonreciprocity is also discussed. The present work provides a new way for the design of multi-band or even broad-band nonreciprocal thermal emitters.

Human geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase (GGPS) is an enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) from farnesyldiphosphate and isopentenyldiphosphate. Recombinant human GGPS was crystallized by the hanging-drop vapor diffusion method. Crystals were grown at 18℃ using PEG 4000 as precipitant. Diffraction data were obtained to a resolution of 2.8 ? from a single frozen crystal belonging to space group P1, with unit-cell parameters: a=68.9 ?, b=107.7 ?, c=137.4 ?, α= 99.6°, β=97.6°, γ=97.8°.

A new knowledge-based potential method, the tri-residue contact potential (TRICP), is proposed. This approach resembles the idea of environment-dependent residue contact energy reported by Zhang et al. We statistically study the 3-dimensional structure of proteins and calculate the knowledge-based contact potential of tri-residue clusters. These contact potentials are carefully compared to pairwise contact potentials (PCP) . TRICP helps us to systematically examine the impact on the interactions of residue pairs by the third residue. Moreover, TRICP provides us with many clues to identify high frequency characteristic structural units in protein structures.

Abstract With the coming of the Post Genomic Era, more and more genomes have been sequenced and it has become possible tostudy phylogeny reconstruction at genome level. The concept of protein phylogenetic profiles of organisms is defined in this work which isused in phylogeny reconstruction by proteome comparisons. This method is more stable than the prevailing molecular systematics methodsand can be used widely. It will develop very fast with the rapid progress in genome sequencing.

＜正＞ Tabtoxin resistance protein （TTR） is an enzyme that renders Tabtoxin-producing pathogens, such as Pseudomonas syringae, tolerant to their own phytotoxins. Here we report the crystal structure of TTR complexed with its natural substrate, acetyl coenzyme A （AcCoA）, to 1.55 A resolution. Despite low sequence homology, the single domain protein includes the four motifs conserved in the GCN5-related N-acetyltransferase （GNAT） superfamily, as well as a characteristic ’V’ shape in which AcCoA binds between the two arms of the ’V’. We propose a single-step mechanism through which TTR catalyses the inactivation of Tabtoxin initiated by the transfer of an acetyl group to the toxin. Our structure provides new insight into the understanding of the role of three critical residues that are conserved in the catalytic pocket of many GNAT superfamily members, including the histone acetyltransferases. We further report that TTR possesses histone acetyltransferase activity and, therefore, describe a general catalytic mechanism for acetylation of β-lactam and protein.

Hsp16.3, the small heat shock protein (sHSP) from Mycobacterium tuberculosis , was originally identified as an immunodominant antigen,which possesses three functional domains typical of sHSP family, namely the N terminal hydrophobic region, α crystallin domain and a short non conserved C terminal extension. To further understand the functional assignment of these independent regions, the three functional domains of Hsp16.3 were defined and the two N or C terminal truncated Hsp16.3 remnants were successfully cloned, expressed and purified. In the far and near circular dichroism analysis, the results showed that these remnants expressed similar secondary and tertiary structures to that of wild type protein. During the reassembly of wild type nonamer, the C terminal truncated remnant could interact with the wild type protein to form hetero oligomers. When trypsin is used to digest the wild type Hsp16.3, its α crystallin domain could resist such degradation. Taken together, these results indicate that the stable secondary and tertiary structures of Hsp16.3 are mainly kept by its α crystallin domain.
