A1N films were prepared on Si（100） and quartz glass substrates with high deposition rate of 30 nm-min-I at the temperature of below 85 ℃ by the magnetic-filtered cathodic arc ion plating （FCAIP） method. The as-deposited A1N films show very smooth surface and almost no macrodroplets. The films are in amorphous state, and the formation of A1N is confirmed by Nls and A12p X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）. The XPS depth profile analysis shows that oxygen is mainly absorbed on the A1N surface. The A1N film has A1 and N concentrations close to the stoichiometric ratio with a small amount of A1203. The prepared A1N films are highly transparent over the wave- length range of 210-990 nm. The optical transmission spectrum reveals the bandgap of 6.1 eV. The present technique provides a good approach to prepare large-scale A1N films with controlled structure and good optical properties at low temperature.

Perioperative artificial nutrition in malnourished gastrointestinal cancer patients

AIM： To investigate the potential role of perioperative nutrition in reducing complications and mortality in malnourished gastrointestinal cancer patients. METHODS： Four hundred and sixty-eight elective moderately or severely malnourished surgical patients with gastric or colorectal cancers defined by the subjective global assessment （SGA） were randomly assigned to 7 d preoperative and 7 d postoperative parenteral or enteral nutrition vs a simple control group. The nutrition regimen included 24.6±5.2 kcal /kg per d non-protein and 0.23±0.04 g nitrogen /kg per d. Control patients did not receive preoperative nutrition but received 600±100 kcal non-protein plus or not plus 62 ± 16 g crystalline amino acids postoperatively. RESULTS： Complications occurred in 18.3% of the patients receiving nutrition and in 33.5% of the control patients （P= 0.012）. Fourteen patients died in the control group and 5 in those receiving nutrition. There were significant differences in the mortality between the two groups （2.1% vs 6.0%, P=0.003）. The total length of hospitalization and postoperative stay of control patients were significantly longer （29 vs 22 d, P=0.014） than those of the studied patients （23 vs 12 d, P= 0.000）. CONCLUSION： Perioperative nutrition support is beneficial for moderately or severely malnourished gastrointestinal cancer patients and can reduce surgical complications and mortality.

Polycrystalline Pr2Fe17-xMnx（x = 0, 1, and 2）alloys were studied by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, heat capacity, ac susceptibility, and isothermal magnetization measurements. All the alloys adopt the rhombohedral Th2Zn17-type structure. The Curie temperature increases from 283 K at x = 0 to 294 K at x = 1, and then decreases to 285 K at x = 2. The magnetic phase transition at the Curie temperature is a typical second-order paramagnetic–ferromagnetic transition. For an applied field change from0 to 5 T, the maximum-△SM for Pr2Fe17-xMnxalloys with x = 0, 1, and 2 are 5.66, 5.07, and 4.31 J·kg^-1·K^-1,respectively. The refrigerant capacity（RC） values range from 458 to 364 J·kg^-1, which is about 70 %–89 % that of Gd. The large, near room temperature △SM and RC values,chemical stability, and a high performance-to-cost ratio make Pr2Fe17-xMnxalloys be selectable materials for room temperature magnetic refrigeration applications.

Photoactive complexes of nonprecious transition metals, mainly including those in the first-row and partially the second-row of the Periodic table of elements, have received increasing attention in view of their low cost and long-term sustainability. They are recognized as promising alternatives to noble transition metal complex congeners that have been extensively studied in optoelectronic devices, artificial photosynthesis, photocatalysis, biodiagnostics, and therapeutics, etc. This review is devoted to a comprehensive summary on the classical and recent advances on photoactive nonprecious transition metal complexes, including photoactive Zr, V, Cr, Mo, and W complexes, Mn complexes and hybrids, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu complexes, and Zn and Cd complexes and hybrids. A particular focus is given on the molecular design, modulation of photophysical and photochemical properties, and applications of the representative and lately-developed nonprecious metal complexes. In addition, a perspective on the future development in this field is provided at the end of this review.

With the increasing demand for energy storage technology, iron-chromium flow batteries（ICFBs） have been widely concerned because of their price advantage. However, the low electrochemical activity of Cr3+/Cr2+redox couples and the side hydrogen evolution reaction limit the industrial application of ICFBs. A multi-dimensional Bi/carbon composite electrocatalyst（Bi@C）for ICFB is designed and prepared to improve the electrochemical activity of Cr3+/Cr2+redox couples. Benefiting by using the Bimetal organic framework（Bi-MOF） with solid matrix as precursors, Bi nanospheres are highly dispersed on the Bi@C electrocatalyst that effectively enhances the electrochemical activity. The special morphology of Bi@C electrocatalyst helps the transfer of electrons and ions, significantly reducing the polarization of battery. Herein, the 3D porous carbon frames accelerate mass transfer, and the 2D carbon nanobelts and carbon layer coating on 0D Bi nanospheres improve the conductivity of Bi nanospheres. Therefore, the ICFB with multi-dimensional Bi@C electrocatalyst exhibits coulombic efficiency of 98.10% and energy efficiency of 79.14% at 140 mA cm-2, which is higher than ICFBs with commercial graphite carbon electrocatalyst and with heat treatment carbon felt. This work provides a simple and economical method to fabricate a high-performance multidimensional Bi@C electrocatalyst for Cr3+/Cr2+redox couples, boosting the development of ICFBs.

The multi-class classification of images is a pivotal challenge within the realm of image processing. As the volume of visual data continues to expand, there is a burgeoning interest in harnessing the unique capabilities of quantum computation to augment the efficiency of classification tasks. However, many existing methods for training quantum image multi-classifiers parallel classical machine learning techniques, where the requisite circuit measurements increase linearly with the volume of training data. This work introduces a novel approach for training a quantum image multi-classifier based on the quantum search algorithm. We have meticulously conducted rigorous experiments on a handwritten digit dataset, a classic benchmark in the field. The results have been meticulously compared with previous works, and the comparative analysis not only validates the efficiency of our proposed approach, requiring only O(N/b) measurements during training, but also highlights a significant quadratic speedup of the algorithm.

1 Introduction Aromatics (mainly benzene, toluene, and xylenes, BTX) are essential intermediates in the chemical industry. Although solar steam generation strategy is efficient in desalinating seawater,it is still challenging to achieve continuous solar-thermal desalination of seawater and catalytic degradation of organic ***,dynamic regulations of hydrogen bonding networks and solvation structures are realized by designing an asymmetric bilayer membrane consisting of a bacterial cellulose/carbon nanotube/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod top layer and a bacterial cellulose/Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)nanorod(BCH)bottom ***,the hydrogen bonding networks inside the membrane can be tuned by the rich surface–OH groups of the bacterial cellulose and Co_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)as well as the ions and radicals in situ generated during the catalysis ***,both SO_(4)^(2−)and HSO_(5)−can regulate the solvation structure of Na^(+)and be adsorbed more preferentially on the evaporation surface than Cl^(−),thus hindering the de-solvation of the solvated Na^(+)and subsequent nucleation/growth of ***,the heat generated by the solar-thermal energy conversion can accelerate the reaction kinetics and enhance the catalytic degradation *** work provides a flow-bed water purification system with an asymmetric solar-thermal and catalytic membrane for synergistic solar thermal desalination of seawater/brine and catalytic degradation of organic pollutants.

Vortex transmutation utilizes a periodic system, which not only enables the alteration of the topological charge(TC) of unstable input vortices but also facilitates their transformation into stable structures. This approach is crucial for investigating the characteristics of vortices in various wave systems. Here, we achieve acoustic vortex TC transmutation by employing a welldesigned dual-structured plate external system(DPES). The interactions between the acoustic vortex and the finite-order discrete rotational symmetry lead to the transformation of its topological charge when complete rotational symmetry is broken to Nthorder discrete symmetry. Our results experimentally demonstrate the acoustic vortex TC transmutation based on passive artificial structures, enabling numerous applications in particle manipulation and information multiplexing as well as advancing our understanding and control over free-space acoustic vortices.
