Subsection cooling system of hot rolling silicon steel and its industrial application

An online subsection cooling method for hot rolling silicon steel was designed to achieve local adjustment of transverse roll ***,it was able to meet the requirements of edge drop of the strip by using the features of online thermal ***,after the new subsection spray beam was installed at the exit of mill,the special local cooling rules were analyzed for altering the thermal crown of roll according to rolling process ***,the dynamic impact of subsection cooling on the local thermal crown could just be obtained according to the measured ***,the heat transfer coefficient was determined by different subsection cooling curves under varied rolling ***,the rolling rhythm and variable conditions were important dynamic factors of transient roll temperature in practical rolling ***,real-time calculation and presetting of the thermal crown were carried out to maximize special requirements of load roll gap on local strip *** this new method,the transient temperature and the thermal crown of roll could be quantitatively controlled *** the practical results showed that the predicted temperature was able to match the measured value by more than 95%.Meanwhile,the adjustable range of thermal crown increased by more than 2.5 ***,the qualification rate of strip edge crown has increased from the original 30%to over 70%.

Zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs) have received increasing attention as energy storage devices owing to their low cost,high safety,and environmental ***,their progress has been hampered by low energy and power density,as well as unsatisfactory long-cycle stability,mainly due to the lack of suitable electrode *** this context,we have developed manganese single atoms implanted in nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanosheets (MnSAs/NCNs) using a metal salt template method as cathodes for *** metal salt serves a dual purpose in the synthesis process:It facilitates the uniform dispersion of Mn atoms within the carbon matrix and acts as an activating agent to create the porous *** applied in ZIHCs,the MnSAs/NCNs electrode demonstrates exceptional performance,including a high capacity of 203 m Ah g^(-1),an energy density of 138 Wh kg^(-1)at 68 W kg^(-1),and excellent cycle stability with 91%retention over 10,000 *** calculations indicate that the introduced Mn atoms modulate the local charge distribution of carbon materials,thereby improving the electrochemical *** work demonstrates the significant potential of carbon materials with metal atoms in zinc-ion hybrid capacitors,not only in enhancing electrochemical performance but also in providing new insights and methods for developing high-performance energy storage devices.

Characterization of petrophysical and seismic properties for CO2 storage with sensitivity analysis

Saline aquifers are considered as highly favored reservoirs for CO2sequestration due to their favorable properties. Understanding the impact of saline aquifer properties on the migration and distribution of CO2plume is crucial. This study focuses on four key parameters—permeability, porosity, formation pressure, and temperature—to characterize the reservoir and analyse the petrophysical and elastic response of CO2. First, we performed reservoir simulations to simulate CO2saturation, using multiple sets of these four parameters to examine their significance on CO2saturation and the plume migration ***, the effect of these parameters on the elastic properties is tested using rock physics *** established a relationship of compressional wave velocity（Vp） and quality factor（Qp） with the four key parameters, and conducted a sensitivity analysis to test their sensitivity to Vpand Qp. Finally, we utilized visco-acoustic wave equation simulated time-lapse seismic data based on the computed Vpand Qpmodels, and analysed the impact of CO2saturation changes on seismic data. As for the above numerical simulations and analysis, we conducted sensitivity analysis using both homogeneous and heterogeneous models. Consistent results are found between homogeneous and heterogeneous models. The permeability is the most sensitive parameter to the CO2saturation, while porosity emerges as the primary factor affecting both Qpand Vp. Both Qpand Vpincrease with the porosity, which contradicts the observations in gas reservoirs. The seismic simulations highlight significant variations in the seismic response to different parameters. We provided analysis for these observations, which serves as a valuable reference for comprehensive CO2integrity analysis, time-lapse monitoring, injection planning and site selection.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) with organic electrodes are an emerging research direction due to the sustainability of organic materials based on elements like C,H,O,and sodium ***,organic electrode materials for SIBs are mainly used as cathodes because of their relatively high redox potentials(>1 V).Organic electrodes with low redox potential that can be used as anode are ***,a novel organic anode material (tetrasodium 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate,Na_(4)TDC) has been developed with low redox potential (<0.7 V) and excellent cyclic *** three-sodium storage mechanism was demonstrated with various in-situ/ex-situ spectroscopy and theoretical calculations,showing a high capacity of 208 mAh/g and an average decay rate of merely 0.022%per ***,the Na_(4)TDC-hard carbon composite can further acquire improved capacity and cycling stability for 1200 cycles even with a high mass loading of up to 20 mg cm^(-2).By pairing with a thick Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)cathode (20.6 mg cm^(-2)),the as-fabricated full cell exhibited high operating voltage (2.8 V),excellent rate performance and cycling stability with a high capacity retention of 88.7% after 200 cycles,well highlighting the Na_(4)TDC anode material for SIBs.

BACKGROUND Type Ⅱ diabetes mellitus(T2DM)has been associated with increased risk of colon cancer(CC)and worse prognosis in patients with *** effects of T2DM on postoperative chemoresistance rate(CRR)and long-term disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)in patients with stage Ⅲ CC who receive curative resection remain *** To investigate whether T2DM or glycemic control is associated with worse postoperative survival outcomes in stage Ⅲ *** This retrospective cohort study included 278 patients aged 40-75 years who underwent surgery for stage Ⅲ CC from 2018 to *** on preoperative T2DM history,the patients were categorized into non-DM(n=160)and DM groups(n=118).The latter was further divided into well-controlled(n=73)and poorly controlled(n=45)groups depending on the status of glycemic ***,OS,and CRR were compared between the groups and Cox regression analysis was used to identify risk *** Patients in the DM and non-DM groups demonstrated similar DFS,OS,and CRR(DFS:72.03%vs 78.75%,P=0.178;OS:81.36%vs 83.12%,P=0.638;CRR:14.41%vs 7.5%,P=0.063).Poorly controlled DM was associated with a significantly worse prognosis and higher CRR than well-controlled DM(DFS:62.22%vs 78.07%,P=0.021;OS:71.11%vs 87.67%,P=0.011;CRR:24.40%vs 8.22%,P=0.015).High preoperative fasting plasma glucose[DFS:Hazard ratio(HR)=2.684,P<0.001;OS:HR=2.105,P=0.019;CRR:HR=2.214,P=0.005]and glycosylated hemoglobin levels(DFS:HR=2.344,P=0.006;OS:HR=2.119,P=0.021;CRR:HR=2.449,P=0.009)indicated significantly poor prognosis and high CRR,while T2DM history did not(DFS:HR=1.178,P=0.327;OS:HR=0.933,P=0.739;CRR:HR=0.997,P=0.581).CONCLUSION Increased preoperative fasting plasma glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels,but not T2DM history,were identified as risk factors associated with poor postoperative outcomes and high CRR in patients with stage Ⅲ CC.

A morphology-based growth stage system should describe the growth and development of a crop and thereby help farmers and agronomists in formulating reasonable managementmeasures conducive to the development of marketable products. However, existing growth stage systems for soybean are either based on plant growth or covered particular phases of flower or pod development, making it difficult to use for tracking the entire growth period of individual flowers and pods. Therefore, the first flower and pod, located at the base of the primary raceme in the eighth trifoliate node of the main stem, were chosen to illustrate growth dynamics during the full reproductive period. The size and fresh weight of the primary raceme in the eighth trifoliate leaf axil, the first flower and pod, the pistils in the first flower, and seeds in the first pod were examined, and the growth of these organs was depicted. Integrating the morphological characteristics and growth features of flowers and pods, as well as existing growth stage systems, the growth and development were delineated in 13 stages. In detail, we classified the flower phase based on the relative positions of floral components, inspired by the ratio of bract to flower used for staging, refined the lag phase proposed previously, retained the use of pod length to define the early pod phase, and innovatively described the late pod phase by the seed appearance. The developmental events in each stage of flower and pod were distinctive and closely connected to the corresponding morphology. Taken together, a more detailed growth stage system for describing individual flowers and pods in soybean was established. This system will serve as a valuable research tool for describing the development, gene expression, and cellular metabolism associated with the formation of flowers, pods, and seeds. © 2025 Crop Science Society of China and Institute of Crop Science, CAAS

The fatigue resistance of casting polyurethane(CPU)is crucial in various sectors,such as construction,healthcare,and the automotive *** its importance,no studies have reported on the fatigue threshold of *** study employed an advanced Intrinsic Strength Analyzer(ISA)to evaluate the fatigue threshold of CPUs,systematically exploring the effects of three types of isocyanates(PPDI,NDI,TDI)that contribute to hard segment structures based on the cutting *** multiple advanced characterization techniques(XRD,TEM,DSC,AFM),the results indicate that PPDI-based polyurethane exhibits the highest fatigue threshold(182.89 J/m^(2))due to a highest phase separation and a densely packed spherulitic structure,although the hydrogen bonding degree is the lowest(48.3%).Conversely,NDI-based polyurethane,despite having the high hydrogen bonding degree(53.6%),exhibits moderate fatigue performance(122.52 J/m^(2)),likely due to a more scattered ***-based polyurethane,with the highest hydrogen bonding degree(59.1%)but absence of spherulitic structure,shows the lowest fatigue threshold(46.43 J/m^(2)).Compared to common rubbers(NR,NBR,EPDM,BR),the superior fatigue performance of CPU is attributed to its well-organized microstructure,polyurethane possesses a higher fatigue threshold due to its high phase separation degree and orderly and dense spherulitic structure which enhances energy dissipation and reduces crack propagation.

Objective: To examine the effectiveness of Chinese medicine(CM) Lianhua Qingwen Granule(LHQW) and Jingyin Gubiao Prescription(JYGB) in asymptomatic or mild patients with Omicron infection in the shelter hospital. Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted in the largest shelter hospital in Shanghai, China, from April 10, 2022 to May 30, 2022. A total of 56,244 asymptomatic and mild Omicron cases were included and divided into 4 groups, i.e., non-administration group(23,702 cases), LHQW group(11,576 cases), JYGB group(12,112 cases), and dual combination of LHQW and JYGB group(8,854 cases). The length of stay(LOS) in the hospital was used to assess the effectiveness of LHQW and JYGB treatment on Omicron infection. Results: Patients aged 41–60 years, with nadir cycle threshold(CT) value of N gene <25, or those fully vaccinated preferred to receive CM therapy. Before or after propensity score matching(PSM), the multiple linear regression showed that LHQW and JYGB treatment were independent influence factors of LOS(both P<0.001). After PSM, there were significant differences in LOS between the LHQW/JYGB combination and the other groups(P<0.01). The results of factorial design ANOVA proved that the LHQW/JYGB combination therapy synergistically shortened LOS(P=0.032). Conclusions: Patients with a nadir CT value <25were more likely to accept CM. The LHQW/JYGB combination therapy could shorten the LOS of Omicron-infected individuals in an isolated environment.

Polarization structure transition of C-point singularities upon reflection

This paper provides a comprehensive study of the polarization transition of reflected C-point singularities. The reflection of star-and lemon-type C-point paraxial vector beams at an air-dielectric interface is investigated. For small oblique incidences, a topological phase transition is observed exclusively in spin-maintained modes, manifesting as a shift from a vortex phase to a spin phase. Notably, as the incident angle ranges from 0 to 90 degrees, another topological phase transition occurs, the total spin components of the reflected field undergoing an interchange of topological charges(TCs), resulting in a type transition of the C-point from the star(lemon)-type to the lemon(star)-type. Furthermore, the concurrence of the C-point beam throughout the reflection process can be modulated by the incident angle, spanning almost the entire spectrum from 0 to 1. The longitudinal and transverse displacements of each spin component as well as the overall beam shifts of the reflected beam are further analyzed, revealing their dependence on the incident beam's TC combination. These findings offer novel physical insights into polarization singularity-matter interactions, holding promise for advancing research in singular optics and its applications.
