Expression changes of mi RNA-regulated genes associated with the formation of the leafy head in cabbage

he vegetative development of cabbage(Brassica oleracea var. capitata) passes through seedling, rosette, folding and heading stages. Leaves that form the rosette are large and mostly flat. In the following developmental stages, the plants produce leaves that curve inward to produce the leafy head. Many microRNAs and their target genes have been described participating in leaf development and leaf curvature. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of miRNA-regulated genes in the transition from the rosette to the heading stage. We compared the mi RNA and gene abundances between emerging rosette and heading leaves. To remove transcripts(miRNAs and genes) whose regulation was most likely associated with plant age rather than the change from rosette to heading stage, we utilized a non-heading collard green(B. oleracea var. acephala)morphotype as control. This resulted in 33 DEMs and 1998 DEGs with likely roles in the transition from rosette to heading stage in cabbage. Among these 1998 DEGs, we found enriched GO terms related to DNA-binding transcription factor activity, transcription regulator activity, iron ion binding, and photosynthesis. We predicted the target genes of these 33 DEMs and focused on the subset that was differentially expressed(1998DEGs) between rosette and heading stage leaves to construct mi RNA-target gene interaction networks. Our main finding is a role for miR396b-5p targeting two Arabidopsis thaliana orthologues of GROWTH REGULATING FACTORs 3(GRF3) and 4(GRF4) in pointed cabbage head formation.

Sargassum is an indicator of progressive pollution in the seas because it causes lack of light and lack of oxygenation.It arrives in the Mexican Caribbean between the months of April and September,causing a bad smell that it has after its decomposition,a heavy load of heavy metals,as well as being an inconvenience for the inhabitants because it causes losses for tourism in that region.There are several ways to take advantage of these algae and one of them is to generate biomass to obtain a biofuel.The objective of this study was to determine the viability of sargassum(two varieties)as a substrate to obtain biogas in anaerobic co-digestion with sludge from a WWTP(Wastewater Treatment Plant).Two forms of drying were also applied to the two varieties of algae.It was obtained that sargassum is a good component to co-digest because it does not destabilize the process and good biogas production is achieved.

As renewable energy source(RES)tend to be integrated more and more at home and electric vehicles(Evs)take a greater share in the personal automobile market,users see a chance to charge their Evs by microRES.In this context,this paper presents a review about opportunities and challenges needed to be overcome by the Ev users to implement a vehicle to home system in their homes,as well as the integration of micro-RES.Several practical scenarios are presented,with different demand profiles,by integrating renewable energy that could be used to charge the Ev.

The incorrect disposal of the waste generated in the municipalities contributes to water and soil contamination,resulting in a real concern in order to find an adequate disposal as well as obtain by-products that can be used to reduce CO2 emissions.Anaerobic digestion turns out to be the most efficient treatment,both in environmental and economic terms.The objective of this study is to evaluate the anaerobic co-digestion process in phases as an alternative for the treatment of municipal waste:sludge from water treatment plants and the biodegradable part of Municipal Solid Waste(MSW),for three HRTs(Hydraulic Retention Times).Testing results show up a max elimination of 70.68%in vS(volatile Solids)and 74.01%in COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand).With these percentages of elimination on average,15.96 L/d of biogas was produced,for each kg of COD eliminated 0.56 m3 of biogas was produced and for each kg of Sv 0.85 m3 and methane of 50.10%.

Here we present three clinical cases of canine dermatophytosis resolved with topical propolis treatment that involved alopecia and well-demarcated erythematous lesions. These cases were positively identified by direct observation of samples from the affected zones with 10% KOH. Each sample was cultured, leading to the isolation of Microsporum gypseum in one case and Microsporum canis in the other two cases. The animals’ subsequent treatment included bathing using a commercial soap with propolis every seven days for 3 to 8 weeks, as well as the use of a propolis-containing ointment elaborated in our laboratory, which was applied to the lesions once a day for three weeks. From the second week of treatment, all cultures were negative. At the end of treatment, all cases displayed full recovery of the injuries and hair growth in these areas. In these clin-ical cases, treatment with propolis was effective, supporting the use of propolis as a promising natural alternative with no known collateral effects.

PbS Nanostructures Thin Films by in situ PbS：Ni and PbS：Cd-Doping

PbS: Ni and PbS: Cd nanocrystalline films were prepared by chemical bath on glass substrates at deposition T = 80. Different Ni-Cd-doping levels were obtained changing the volume of the Ni an Cd-reagent-solution into the PbS growing solution. Measurements were carried out to characterize the semiconductor, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical absorption (OA). The morphological changes of the layers were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Diffraction X-ray spectra PbS: Ni and PbS: Cd displayed peaks at 2θ = 26.00, 30.07, 43.10, 51.00 and 53.48, indicating growth on the zinc blende face. The grain size determined by X-rays diffraction of the undoped samples, was found ~37 nm, whereas with the doped sample was 32-5 nm. PbS: Ni forbidden band gap energy (Eg) shift disclose a shift in the range of 1.4-2.4 v and PbS: Cd energy was estimated to be 0.15-0.5 ev. Gibbs free energy calculation for the Cu doping PbS is also included.

The growth of nanocrystalline PbS films by chemical bath deposition (CBD) onto glass at a deposition temperature of 20 ± 2 °C is reported. Different doping levels were obtained by changing the volume of the reagent solution v[Ni2+] into the PbS growing solution were added. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmssion Microscopy Electronic (TEM), Raman spectroscopy (RS), dark conductivity (DC) measurements was carried out to characterize the PbS films. XRD spectra displayed peaks at the angular positions: 2θ = (26.00, 30.07, 43.10, 51.00, 53.48), indicating growth on the zinc blende face. The grain size (GS) determined by x-rays diffraction of the undoped samples, was found to be ~36 nm, whereas with the doped sample is found to be in the range ~32-5 nm, as calculated by employing Scherer"s formula. By TEM, the doped-PbS materials were found crystalline films in the range 3.5-5 nm. RS exhibited band centred at ~135 cm-1 displaying only a PbS ZB structure, excluding the presence of any other material. The thermal energy for the films was determined from the slope of DC and the energy was estimated to be 0.15 to 0.5 ev. Finally, Gibbs free energy calculation for the v[Ni2+] doping-PbS process was also established.
