In-situ imaging electrocatalysis in a solid-state Li-O_(2) battery with CuSe nanosheets as air cathode

The development of highly efficient catalysts in the cathodes of rechargeable Li-O_(2) batteries is a considerable *** enhance the electrochemical performance of the Li-O_(2) battery,it is essential to choose a suitable catalyst *** selenide(CuSe)is considered as a more promising cathode catalyst material for Li-O_(2) battery due to its better conductivity and rich electrochemical active ***,its electrochemical reaction and fundamental catalytic mechanism remain unclear till ***,in-situ environmental transmission electron microscopy technique was used to study the catalysis mechanism of the CuSe nanosheets in Li-O_(2) batteries during discharge and charge *** is found that Li_(2)O was formed and decomposed around the ultrafine-grained Cu during the discharge and charge processes,respectively,demonstrating excellent *** indicate that the freshly formed ultrafine-grained Cu in the conversion reaction catalyzed the latter four-electron-transfer oxygen reduction reaction,leading to the formation of Li_(2)*** study provides important understanding of the electrochemistry of the LiO_(2) nanobatteries,which will aid the development of high-performance Li-O_(2) batteries for energy storage applications.

Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)batteries,a promising energy storage technology,not only provide ultrahigh discharge capacity but also capture CO_(2)and turn it into renewable *** electrochemical reaction pathways'ambiguity,however,creates a hurdle for their practical *** study used copper selenide(CuSe)nanosheets as the air cathode medium in an environmental transmission electron microscope to in situ study Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)(mix CO_(2)as well as O_(2)at a volume ratio of 1:1)and Li–O_(2)batteries as well as Li–CO_(2)*** discharge reactions take place successively in the Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)–CuSe nanobattery:(I)4Li^(+)+O_(2)+4e^(−)→2Li_(2)O;(II)Li_(2)O+CO_(2)→Li_(2)CO_(3).The charge reaction proceeded via(III)2Li_(2)CO_(3)→4Li^(+)+2CO_(2)+O_(2)+4e^(−).However,Li–O_(2)and Li–CO_(2)nanobatteries showed poor cycling stability,suggesting the difficulty in the direct decomposition of the discharge *** fluctuations of the Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)battery's electrochemistry were also shown to depend heavily on O_(2).The CuSe‐based Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)battery showed exceptional electrochemical *** Li^–CO_(2)/O_(2)battery offered a discharge capacity apex of 15,492 mAh g^(−1) and stable cycling 60 times at 100 mA g^(−1).Our research offers crucial insight into the electrochemical behavior of Li–CO_(2)/O_(2),Li–O_(2),and Li–CO_(2)nanobatteries,which may help the creation of high‐performance Li–CO_(2)/O_(2)batteries for energy storage applications.

Enhanced electrochemical performance of nanoscale single crystal NMC811 modification by coating LiNbO_(3)

Single crystallization is an important strategy to resolve intergranular cracks and unnecessary side reactions with electrolytes in layered transition metal oxide cathodes LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)(NMC811).Due to the limitations of high-temperature sintering and multi-step calcination,single crystal NMC811 generally shows irregular particles with a size of 2-3μ***,the prolonged Li-ion diffusion pathway and the stress generated by the uneven de-/intercalation sluggish Li-ion diffusion kinetics,what is more,cause structural damage such as intragranular cracks.A slow Li extraction rate or particle size reduction will ameliorate the structural damage and improve the cycling *** the most promising cathodes for next-generation power batteries,NMC811 required fast charge performance and cycle *** size reduction appears to be the displacement *** is an effective strategy to mitigate intragranular cracks of single crystal ***,the serious aggregation and increased specific surface area become new *** this article,we synthesized monodisperse nanoscale single crystal NMC811 by molten salt method and modified the surface by LiNbO3 *** electrochemical performance shows that nanoscale single crystal NMC811 has faster kinetic and higher capacity retention,so the strategy of combining nanonization and surface coating is an alternative way to prepare high specific capacity and cycle stable single crystal NMC811.

Converting intercalation-type cathode in spent lithium-ion batteries into conversion-type cathode

The widespread applications of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)generate tons of spent ***,recycling LIBs is of paramount importance in protecting the environment and saving the *** commercialized LIBs mostly adopt layered oxides such as LiCoO_(2)(LCO)or LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)(NMC)as the cathode *** the intercalation-type spent oxides into conversion-type cathodes(such as metal fluorides(MFs))offers a valid recycling strategy and provides substantially improved energy densities for ***,two typical Co-based cathodes,LCO and LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_(2)(NMC622),in spent LIBs were successfully converted to CoF_(2) and(Ni_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z))F_(2) cathodes by a reduction and fluorination *** as converted CoF_(2) and(Ni_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z))F_(2) delivered cell energy densities of 650 and 700 Wh/kg,*** atomic-level electron microscopy revealed that the used LCO and NMC622 were converted to highly phase pure Co metal and Ni_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2) alloys in the used graphite-assisted reduction roasting,simultaneously producing the important product of Li_(2)CO_(3) using only environment friendly *** study provided a versatile strategy to convert the intercalation-type Co-based cathode in the spent LIBs into conversion-type MFs cathodes,which offers a new avenue to recycle the spent LIBs and substantially increase the energy densities of next generation LIBs.

Extending Structures for Gel'fand-Dorfman Bialgebras

Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra,which is both a Lie algebra and a Novikov algebra with some compatibility condition,appeared in the study of Hamiltonian pairs in completely integrable *** also emerged in the description of a class special Lie conformal algebras called quadratic Lie conformal *** this paper,we investigate the extending structures problem for Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras,which is equivalent to some extending structures problem of quadratic Lie conformal ***,given a Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra(A,o,[.,.]),this problem is how to describe and classify all Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra structures on a vector space E(A⊂E)such that(A,o,[.,.])is a subalgebra of E up to an isomorphism whose restriction on A is the identity *** by the theories of extending structures for Lie algebras and Novikov algebras,we construct an object gH2(V,A)to answer the extending structures problem by introducing the notion of a unified product for Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras,where V is a complement of A in *** particular,we investigate the special case when dim(V)=1 in detail.

Numerical analysis of the correlation between fluid dynamic modes and hydrodynamic noise in flows around a three-dimensional circular cylinder

The flow around a circular cylinder for Re=1000 is characterized by flow separation and Karman vortex *** typical flow features can be captured to study the correlation between fluid fields and sound *** this paper,the three-dimensional circular cylinder is taken as the research object,and the probes of surface fluctuating pressure and far field sound pressure are arranged every 10°.The directional diagram and the coherence of fluctuating pressure and sound pressure are *** relationship between the flow mode and hydrodynamic noise is studied by using dynamic mode decomposition(DMD).The characteristics of the dipole and quadrupole sound source term of a long span cylinder are *** results show that at the angles between 30°–120°and 190°–350°,the fluctuating pressure contributes more to the generation of dipole *** quadrupole sound source shows three-dimensional effects,which is more obvious in a cylinder with large spanwise length.

Facile synthesis of transition metal complexes with five coplanar metal-carbon σ-bonds

Carbon is one of the most important elements in chemistry, forming a vast number of organic compounds. It can also form a variety of organometallic compounds with a metal–carbon bond. Metal alkyl, carbene and carbyne complexes are classical examples of organometallic compounds. A particularly interesting class of organometallic compounds are all-carbon metallacycles formed by combination of a metal and a hydrocarbon chain serving as a chelating agent with only carbon atoms as the donor atoms. Many interesting monocyclic metallacycles made of a chelating bidentate hydrocarbon chain are known, for example, metallacyclobutadienes, metallacyclopentadienes and metallabenzenes[1].

Biological structural materials not only exhibit remarkable mechanical properties but also often embody dynamic characteristics such as environmental responsiveness,autonomy,and self-healing,which are difficult to achieve in conventional engineering *** merging materials science,synthetic biology,and other disciplines,engineered living materials(ELMs)provide a promising solution to combine living organisms with abiotic components,thus facilitating the construction of functional“living”*** natural materials,ELMs possess vitality and hold immense application potential in areas such as medicine,electronics,and construction,captivating increasing research attention *** an emerging branch of ELMs,structural ELMs aim to mimic living biological structural materials by achieving desired mechanical performance while maintaining important“living”*** we summarize the recent progress and provide our perspectives for this emerging research *** first summarize the superiority of structural ELMs by reviewing biological structural materials and biomimetic material design ***,we provide a systematic discussion on the definition and classifications of structural ELMs,their mechanical performance,and physiological ***,we summarize some critical challenges faced by structural ELMs and highlight directions of future *** hope this review article can provide a timely summary of the state of the art and relevant perspectives for future development of structural ELMs.
