Influence of cerium and yttrium addition on strength and electrical conductivity of pure aluminum alloys

To develop pure aluminum alloys with high conductivity and strength, Al-0.2Ce and Al-0.2Ce-0.1Y alloys were prepared by rolling and annealing processes in this study. The effects of trace rare earth elements on the strength and electrical conductivity of the pure aluminum alloys were investigated. It is revealed that the addition of Ce and Y to pure aluminum can effectively enhance the strength and electrical conductivity of the alloys. In Al-0.2Ce, the addition of Ce can effectively refine the grain size of a-Al, with an average grain size of 90.68 μm in the as-cast state. The grain size of the alloy is further reduced to 87.55 μm by the simultaneous addition of Y. The synergistic addition of Ce and Y changes the properties of the alloy. The addition of Ce and Y also produces the Al_(11)Ce_(3) and Al_(3)Y second phases, which have coherent relationship with a-Al. The two-dimensional mismatch degree was calculated to be only 4.43%and 0.85%, respectively, which can provide a certain amount of nucleation substrate for a-Al in the incubation stage. The interfacial match between the L1_(2)structure of Al_(3)Y and a-Al was calculated using first-principles simulations. The results indicate that Al_(3)Y has a strong bonding effect with a-Al. Nanoscale second phases at grain boundaries can be effective in reducing resistivity due to dislocation *** second phases with better matching interfaces to the substrate have no positive effect on the scattering motion of electrons.

Poly(lactic acid)(PLA) as a bio-based polymer with biodegradability and biocompatibility has attracted much attention. To manipulate its properties for different applications, regulation of crystal structure and crystalline morphology becomes an attractive research topic. In this work, the structure evolution of layered samples containing an amorphous poly(D-lactide)(PDLA) layer and a crystalline poly(L-lactide)(PLLA)layer with highly oriented edge-on α lamellar crystals after annealing at 150 ℃ or/and after melt-recrystallization has been studied by AFM, FTIR,and TEM combined with electron diffraction. The results demonstrate that melt recrystallization of the as-prepared sample leads to the formation of abundant randomly oriented PLA stereo-complex(PLA SC) crystals. Annealing at 150 ℃ results in the formation of a small amount of oriented PLA SC crystals at the interface. These PLA SC crystals show great impact on the recrystallization behavior of sample after melting at 190 ℃ and then crystallizing at 90 ℃. First, they impede the mutual diffusion of the overlying PDLA and underlying PLLA, and thus reduce their stereocomplexation ability as manifested by the decreased amount of PLA SC crystals. Second, they act as substrate to initiate the epitaxial crystallization of the overlying PDLA and underlying PLLA, which ensures the production of a highly oriented structure of PDLA and PLLA after melt recrystallization again.

Kinetics of thymocyte development in vivo during embryogenesis was pursued. The early development of thymocytes in the fetal and neonatal BALB/c mice was discontinuous, with four waves of cell proliferation occurring at fetal day (Fd) 14 to 17, Fd 18 to day (D) 1 after birth, D 2 to D 5 and D6 thereafter. The first three proliferation waves coincided with the generation of CD4/"CD8/" (DP), TCR+CD4/hiCD8-/lo (CD4 SP), and TCR+CD4-/loCD8int/hi (CD8 SP) thymocytes, respectively. The transition from DN to DP cells was further investigated and it was found out that there were two differential pathways via immature single positive (ISP) cells in the BALB/c mice, each functioning at different fetal ages. One is via TCR-CD4-CD8+ cells, occurring between Fd 15 and Fd 17 and the other is via TCR-CD4+CD8- cells, occurring from Fd 17 until birth. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs) have been identified as a highly promising means of achieving sustainable energy conversion. A crucial factor in enhancing the performance of PEMFCs for further potential energy applications is the advancement in the field of catalyst engineering that has led to remarkable performance enhancement in facilitating the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). Subsequently, it is important to acknowledge that the techniques used in preparation of membrane electrode assemblies(MEAs), the vital constituents of PEMFCs, also possess direct and critical influence on exhibiting the full catalytic activity of meticulously crafted catalysts. Here, a succinct summary of the most recent advancements in Pt catalysts for ORR was offered and their underly catalytic mechanism were discussed. Then, both laboratory-scale and industrial-scale MEA fabrication techniques of Pt catalysts were summarized. Furthermore, a detailed analysis of the connections between materials, process, and performance in MEA fabrication was presented in order to facilitate the development of optimal catalyst layers.

In this paper, a novel and reliable structure of the side passivated emitter and the rear locallydiffused（PERL） silicon light emitting diodes （LEDs） is proposed. The inverted pyramids surface, the important interface in this structure, is given according to the experiment. The results show that the inverted pyramids surface has a low refection about 8%, in the anisotropic etching 70 ℃, 5% TMAH concentration, corrosion time of 90 min or 30 rain. Low refection means high light emitting rate. Most of the structure and manufacturing process can be compatible with planar CMOS technology, which makes the silicon LED greater potential for development in the future.
