Objective To evaluate the effect of the aluminum hydroxide （Al-OH） adjuvant on the 2009 pandemic influenza A/H1N1 （pH1N1） vaccine. Methods In a multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, participants received two doses of split-virion formulation containing 15 ug hemagglutinin antigen, with or without aluminum hydroxide （N-OH）. We classified the participants into six age categories （〉61 years, 41-60 years, 19-40 years, 13-18 years, 8-12 years, and 3-7 years） and obtained four blood samples from each participant on days 0, 21, 35, and 42 following the first dose of immunization. We assessed vaccine immunogenicity by measuring the geometric mean titer （GMT） of hemagglutination inhibiting antibody. We used a two-level model to evaluate the fixed effect of aluminum Al-OH and other factors, accounting for repeated measures. Results The predictions of repeated measurement on GMTs of formulations with or without Al-OH, were 80.35 and 112.72, respectively. Al-OH significantly reduced immunogenicity after controlling for time post immunization, age-group and gender. Conclusion The Al-OH adjuvant does not increase but actually reduces the immunogenicity of the split-virion pH1N1 vaccine.

Objective: To derive the Chinese medicine(CM) syndrome classification and subgroup syndrome characteristics of ischemic stroke patients. Methods: By extracting the CM clinical electronic medical records(EMRs) of 7,170 hospitalized patients with ischemic stroke from 2016 to 2018 at weifang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shandong Province, China, a patient similarity network(PSN) was constructed based on the symptomatic phenotype of the patients. Thereafter the efficient community detection method BGLL was used to identify subgroups of patients. Finally, subgroups with a large number of cases were selected to analyze the specific manifestations of clinical symptoms and CM syndromes in each subgroup. Results: Seven main subgroups of patients with specific symptom characteristics were identified, including M3, M2, M1, M5, M0, M29and M4. M3 and M0 subgroups had prominent posterior circulatory symptoms, while M3 was associated with autonomic disorders, and M4 manifested as anxiety;M2 and M4 had motor and motor coordination disorders;M1 had sensory disorders;M5 had more obvious lung infections;M29 had a disorder of consciousness. The specificity of CM syndromes of each subgroup was as follows. M3, M2, M1, M0, M29 and M4 all had the same syndrome as wind phlegm pattern;M3 and M0 both showed hyperactivity of Gan(Liver) yang pattern;M2 and M29 had similar syndromes, which corresponded to intertwined phlegm and blood stasis pattern and phlegm-stasis obstructing meridians pattern, respectively. The manifestations of CM syndromes often appeared in a combination of 2 or more syndrome elements. The most common combination of these 7 subgroups was wind-phlegm. The 7 subgroups of CM syndrome elements were specifically manifested as pathogenic wind, pathogenic phlegm,and deficiency pathogens. Conclusions: There were 7 main symptom similarity-based subgroups in ischemic stroke patients, and their specific characteristics were obvious. The main syndromes were wind phlegm pat

Background SARS-CoV-2 continues to mutate over time,and reports on children infected with Omicron BA.5 are *** aimed to analyze the specific symptoms of Omicron-infected children and to improve patient *** We selected 315 consecutively hospitalized children with Omicron BA.5 and 16,744 non-Omicron-infected febrile children visiting the fever clinic at our hospital between December 8 and 30,*** convulsions and body temperatures were compared between the two *** analyzed potential associations between convulsions and vaccination,and additionally evaluated the brain damage among severe Omicron-infected *** Convulsion rates(97.5%vs.4.3%,P<0.001)and frequencies(median:2.0 vs.1.6,P<0.001)significantly differed between Omicron-infected and non-Omicron-infected febrile *** body temperatures of Omicron-infected children were significantly higher during convulsions than when they were not convulsing and those of non-Omicron-infected febrile children during convulsions(median:39.5 vs.38.2 and 38.6℃,both P<0.001).In the three Omicron-subgroups,the temperature during convulsions was proportional to the percentage of patients and significantly differed(P<0.001),while not in the three non-Omicron-subgroups(P=0.244).The convulsion frequency was lower in the 55 vaccinated children compared to the 260 non-vaccinated children(average:1.8 vs.2.1,P<0.001).The vaccination dose and convulsion frequency in Omicron-infected children were significantly correlated(P<0.001).Fifteen of the 112 severe Omicron cases had brain *** Omicron-infected children experience higher body temperatures and frequencies during convulsions than those of non-Omicron-infected febrile *** additionally found evidence of brain damage caused by infection with omicron *** and prompt fever reduction may relieve symptoms.

The ^(232)Th(n,f)cross section is very important in basic nuclear physics and applications based on the Th/U fuel *** the time-of-flight method and a multi-cell fast-fission ionization chamber,a novel measurement of the^(232)Th(n,f)cross sec-tion relative to^(235)U in the 1–200 MeV range was performed at the China Spallation Neutron Source Back-n white neutron source(Back-n).The fission event-neutron energy spectra of^(232)Th and^(235)U fission cells were measured in the single-bunch *** 232Th/235U fission cross-sectional ratios were obtained,and the measurement uncertainties were 2.5–3.7%for energies in the 2–20 MeV range and 3.6–6.2%for energies in the 20–200 MeV ***^(232)Th(n,f)cross section was obtained by introducing the standard cross section of^(235)U(n,f).The results were compared with those of previous theoreti-cal calculations,measurements,and *** measured 232Th fission cross section agreed with the main evaluation results in terms of the experimental uncertainty,and 232Th fission resonances were observed in the 1–3 MeV *** present results provide^(232)Th(n,f)cross-sectional data for the evaluation and design of Th/U cycle nuclear systems.

Ginger(Zingiber officinale)is one of the most valued spice plants worldwide;it is prized for its culinary and folk medicinal applications and is therefore of high economic and cultural ***,we present a haplotype-resolved,chromosome-scale assembly for diploid ginger anchored to 11 pseudochromosome pairs with a total length of 3.1 *** structural variation was identified between haplotypes,and two inversions larger than 15Mb on chromosome 4 may be associated with ginger *** performed a comprehensive,spatiotemporal,genome-wide analysis of allelic expression patterns,revealing that most alleles are coordinately *** alleles that exhibited the largest differences in expression showed closer proximity to transposable elements,greater coding sequence divergence,more relaxed selection pressure,and more transcription factor binding site *** also predicted the transcription factors potentially regulating 6-gingerol *** allele-aware assembly provides a powerful platform for future functional genomics,molecular breeding,and genome editing in ginger.
