BACKGROUND： Pancreatic cancer（PC） is usually diagnosed at the late-stage and therefore, has widespread metastasis and a very high mortality rate. The mechanisms underlying PC metastasis are not well understood. Recent advances in genomic sequencing have identified groups of gene mutations that affect PC metastasis, but studies elucidating their roles are lacking. The present review was to investigate the molecular mechanisms of PC *** SOURCES： Relevant articles on PC metastasis were searched in MEDLINE via Pub Med prior to April 2015. The search was limited in English ***： PC metastatic cascades are multi-factorial events including both intrinsic and extrinsic elements. This review highlights the most important genetic alterations and other mechanisms that account for PC invasion and metastasis, with particular regard to epithelial-mesenchymal transition, inflammation, stress response, and circulating tumor ***： Analyses of relevant gene functions and signaling pathways are needed to establish the gene regulatory network and to define the pivotal modulators. Another promising area of study is the genotyping and phenotyping of circulating tumor cells, which could lead to a new era of personalized therapy by identifying specific markers and targets.

The K_xNa_((1-x))NbO_3(x=0.45, 0.46, 0.47, 0.48, 0.49, 0.50) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics was fabricated by conventional solid-state sintering method. It was found that the ratio of alkaline metal would affect the microstructure, bulk density, and optimum sintering temperatures of ceramics. Meanwhile, the electrical properties were also influenced by modulating the K/Na ratio, exhibiting corresponding composition-dependent properties. The optimum electrical properties of K_xNa_((1-x))NbO_3 such as piezoelectric constant d_(33) = 115 pC/N, mechanical quality factor Q_m = 20, Curie temperature Tc = 365 ~oC, ε_(33)~T/ε_0= 588.1, dielectric loss tan δ = 0.024, bulk density(ρ) = 3.08 g/cm^3, remnant polarization(P_r) = 8.87 μC/cm^2 and coercive field(Ec) = 13.79 kV/cm were obtained at x = 0.46.

Attracted by high energy density and considerable conductivity of selenium(Se),Na-Se batteries have been deemed promising energy-storage ***,it still suffers from sluggish kinetic behaviors and similar“shuttling effect”to ***,utilizing uniform hollow carbon spheres as precursors,Se-material is effectively loaded through vapor-infiltration *** to the distribution of optimized pores,the content of microspores could be up to~60%(gen-containing groups and N-elements could be noted,inducing the evolution of electron-moving *** significantly,assisted by the interfacial C-Se bonds and tiny Se distributions,Se electrodes are activated during *** as cathodes for Na-Se systems,the as-resulted samples display a capacity of 593.9 mA h g^(-1)after 100 cycles at the current density of 0.1 *** after 6000 cycles,the capacity could be still kept at about 225 mA h g^(-1)at 5.0 *** by the detailed kinetic analysis,the designed microspores size induces the increasing redox reaction of nano Se,whilst the surface traits further render the enhancement of pseudo-capacitive ***,after cycling,the product Sex(x<4)in pores serves as the primary active *** this,the work is anticipated to provide an effective strategy for advanced electrodes for Na-Se systems.

BACKGROUND:The conventional tests for the diagnosis of early stage pancreatic carcinoma are not *** metaanalysis is to evaluate the accuracy of K-ras mutation for the diagnosis of pancreatic *** SOURCES:A systemic search of all relevant literature was performed in Web of Science,EMBASE,Cochrane Database,and MEDLINE(PubMed as the search engine) prior to June 1,***-four studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria and data were pooled for ***:The pooled estimates for K-ras mutation in diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma were as follows:sensitivity 0.68(95% CI:0.66-0.71),specificity 0.87(95% CI:0.85-0.88),positive likelihood ratio 4.54(95% CI:3.47-5.94),negative likelihood ratio 0.37(95% CI:0.30-0.44) and diagnostic odds ratio 14.90(95% CI:10.02-22.15).Summary receiver operating characteristic analysis demonstrated that the maximum joint sensitivity and specificity was 0.79,and the overall area under the curve was ***:Diagnostic accuracy of K-ras mutation was not superior to that of conventional ***,K-ras mutation analysis alone is not recommended for the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: The etiology of insulinoma is poorly understood. Few studies investigated the possible roles of environmental factors and lifestyle in the pathogenesis of insulinoma. The aim of this study is to identify risk factors associated with occurrence of insulinoma in the Chinese population. METHODS: This study consisted of 196 patients with insulinoma and 233 controls. Demographic information of the patients and controls and risk factors of the disease were analyzed. Univariate and unconditional multivariable logistic regression analyses were made to estimate odds ratios (ORs) and possible risk factors. RESULTS: Approximately 68.88% (135/196) of the patients were from rural areas in contrast to 10.30% (24/233) of the controls (P<0.0001). This difference was confirmed by the multivariate analysis (OR=4.950; 95% CI: 2.928-8.370). Family history of pancreatic endocrine tumor (OR=16.754; 95% CI: 2.125-132.057) and other cancers (OR=2.360; 95% CI: 1.052-5.291) was also related to a high-risk population of insulinoma. CONCLUSION: Rural residents or people who have a family history of pancreatic endocrine tumor and other cancers are a high-risk population of insulinoma.

Design and fabrication of cost-effective transition metal and their oxides-based nanocomposites are of paramount significance for metal-air batteries and ***,the traditional optimized designs for nanostructure are complicated,low-efficient and underperform for wide-scale ***,a novel hierarchical framework of hollow Ni/NiFe2O4-CNTs compositemicrosphere forcibly-assembled by zero-dimensional(OD)Ni/NiFo204 nanoparticle(gen evolution reaction(OER)performance in alkaline media with a low overpotential and superior durability,which exceeds most of the commercial catalysts based on IrO/RuO2 or other non-noble metal *** enhanced OER performance of Ni/NiFe2OA-CNTs composite is mainly ascribed to the increased catalytic activity and the optimized conductivity induced by the effects of strong hierarchical coupling and charge transfers between CNTs and Ni/NiFe204 *** effects are greatly boosted by the polarized heterojunction interfaces confirmed by electron *** density functional theory(DFT)calculation indicates the epitaxial Ni further enriches the intrinsic electrons contents of NiFe204 and thus accelerates absorption/desorption kinetics of OER *** work hereby paves a facile route to construct the hollow composite microsphere with excellent OER electrocatalytic activity based on non-noble metal oxide/CNTs.

With the advantage of fast charge transfer,heterojunction engineering is identified as a viable method to reinforce the anodes'sodium storage ***,vacancies can effectively strengthen the Na+adsorption ability and provide extra active sites for Na+***,their synchronous engineering is rarely ***,a hybrid of Co_(0.85)Se/WSe_(2) heterostructure with Se vacancies and N-doped carbon polyhedron(CoWSe/NCP)has been fabricated for the first time via a hydrothermal and subsequent selenization *** aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy confirms the phase interface of the Co_(0.85)Se/WSe_(2) heterostructure and the existence of Se *** functional theory simulations reveal the accelerated charge transfer and enhanced Na+adsorption ability,which are contributed by the Co_(0.85)Se/WSe_(2) heterostructure and Se vacancies,*** expected,the CoWSe/NCP anode in sodium-ion battery achieves outstanding rate capability(339.6 mAh g^(−1) at 20 A g^(−1)),outperforming almost all Co/W-based selenides.

Discharge characteristics of leader inception and development under 10 m long air gap—experimental observation and simulation results

The physical mechanism of leader formation and development is not well *** this study,we present experimental and simulation results obtained with a 10 m long air gap discharge.A 10 m outdoor discharge experiment is carried out to obtain the current,voltage,and optical image during the leader discharge *** different impulse voltages were applied to the rod‐plane *** measured current is used as an input for a plasma model,then the temperature and electric field could be *** simulation results show that the temperature of the streamer stem during the dark period may exceed 2000 *** addition,the critical charge required for leader initiation can be as low as 0.27μC for a 10 m air *** channel temperature is relatively stable in the process of leader development,which is maintained at about 4500 *** electron density is about 0.5–3�1020 m-3,and the discharge channel conductivity fluctuates in the range of 1–10 S/m for the leader current between 1 and 2 A.A long dark period is tended to be associated with a higher injected charge by the first *** is inferred that the voltage increments during the dark period play an important role in promoting streamer‐to‐leader transition,except for temperature and the injected charge.

To the editor:With great interest,we read the recent article by zhao et al,in which the authors performed a genome-wide screen for genes that are associated with multi-drug resistance *** authors concluded that construction of a chemoresistance prediction rule,based on gene expression patterns, is practical and that their results may be useful for the detection and treatment of MDR in pancreatic cancer patients.
