The cell-type continuous electromagnetic radiation system is a demonstration device capable of generating high-power millimeter electromagnetic waves of a specific wavelength and observing their effects on living *** irradiates a biological sample placed in a 30×30×50 cm^(3)cell with electromagnetic waves in the 3.15-mm-wavelength region(with an output of≥1 W)and analyzes the temperature change of the sample.A vacuum electronic device-based coupled-cavity backward-wave oscillator converts the electron energy of the electron beam into radiofrequency(RF)energy and radiates it to the target through an antenna,increasing the temperature through the absorption of RF energy in the *** system causes pain and ultimately reduces combat power.A cell-type continuous electromagnetic radiation system consisting of four parts—an electromagnetic-wave generator,a highvoltage power supply,a test cell,and a system controller—generates an RF signal of≥1 W in a continuous waveform at a 95-GHz center frequency,as well as a chemical solution with a dielectric constant similar to that of the skin of a living *** increase of 5°C lasting approximately 10 s was confirmed through an experiment.

Scaled-up industrial water electrolysis equipment that can be used with abundant seawater is key for affordable hydrogen *** search for highly stable,dynamic,and economical electrocatalysts could have a significant impact on hydrogen ***,we prepared energy-efficient,scalable,and engineering electronic structure modulated Mn-Ni bimetal oxides(Mn_(0.25)Ni_(0.75)O)through simple hydrothermal followed by calcination ***-optimized Mn_(0.25)Ni_(0.75)O displayed enhanced oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction(OER and HER)performance with overpotentials of 266 and115 mV at current densities of 10 mA cm^(-2)in alkaline KOH added seawater electrolyte ***,Mn-Ni oxide catalytic benefits were attributed to the calculated electronic configurations and Gibbs free energy for OER,and HER values were estimated using first principles *** real-time practical application,we mimicked industrial operating conditions with modified seawater electrolysis using Mn_(0.25)Ni_(0.75)O‖Mn_(0.25)Ni_(0.75)O under various temperature conditions,which performs superior to the commercial IrO_(2)‖Pt-C *** findings demonstrate an inexpensive and facile technique for feasible large-scale hydrogen production.

Boosting overall water splitting by incorporating sulfur into NiFe(oxy)hydroxide

Developing highly active and cost-effective electrocatalysts for enhancing the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is a significant challenge for overall water ***-incorporated nickel iron(oxy)hydroxide(S-NiFeOOH)nanosheets were directly grown on commercial nickel foam using a galvanic corrosion method and a hydrothermal *** incorporation of sulfur into NiFeOOH enhanced the catalytic activity for the HER and OER in 1 M KOH *** enhanced catalytic activity is attributed to the change in the local structure and chemical states due to the incorporation of *** performance for overall water splitting was achieved with an alkaline water *** was realized by employing S-NiFeOOH as a bifunctional electrocatalyst,thereby outperforming a water electrolyzer that requires the usage of precious metal electrocatalysts(i.e.,Pt/C as the HER electrocatalyst and IrO_(2) as the OER electrocatalyst).Moreover,when driven by a commercial silicon solar cell,an alkaline water electrolyzer that uses S-NiFeOOH as a bifunctional electrocatalyst generated hydrogen under natural *** study shows that S-NiFeOOH is a promising candidate for a large-scale industrial implementation of hydrogen production for overall water splitting because of its low cost,high activity,and *** addition,the solar-driven water electrolyzer using S-NiFeOOH as a bifunctional electrocatalyst affords the opportunity for developing effective and feasible solar power systems in the future.

Thioredoxin and thioredoxin-interacting protein as prognostic markers for gastric cancer recurrence

AIM:To evaluate the potential of thioredoxin (TXN) and thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) expression as biomarkers for predicting gastric cancer recurrence. METHODS:TXN and TXNIP expression levels were acquired from gene expression microarray data for 65 human gastric cancer tissues. We determined whether each gene expression level was associated with cancer recurrence and investigated the relationship between the two genes. For validation, the expression levels of TXN and TXNIP were measured by quantitative real- time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction in 68 independent stage Ⅲ gastric cancer patients. The correlation between gene expression and cancer prognosis was evaluated. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to investigate the protein expression levels of TXN and TXNIP and to characterize the expression patterns of each protein. RESULTS:TXN was a prognosis-related gene (P = 0.009), whereas TXNIP, a TXN inhibitor, demonstrated a negative correlation with TXN in the gene expression microarray data. In the 68 stage Ⅲ patients, the expression levels of both TXN and TXNIP had a statistically significant effect on recurrence-free survival (RFS, P = 0.008 and P = 0.036, respectively). The low TXN and high TXNIP expression group exhibited a better prognosis than the other groups, and the high TXN and low TXNIP expression group exhibited a poorer prognosis (P < 0.001 for RFS and P = 0.001 for overall survival). More than half of the patients in the simulta-neously high TXN and low TXNIP expression group ex- perienced a recurrence within 1 year after curative surgery, and the 5-year survival rate of the patients in this group was 29%, compared with 89% in the low TXN and high TXNIP expression group. The TXN protein was overexpressed in 65% of the gastric cancer tissues, whereas the TXNIP protein was underexpressed in 85% of the cancer cells. AIM: To evaluate the effects of Cordyceps militaris extract (CME) on angiogenesis and tumor growth. METHODS:Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), HT1080, and B16-F10 cells were used. DNA fragment, angio-genic related gene expressions (MMPs, bFGF, VEGF, etc), capillary tube formation, wound healing in vitro, tumorgrowth in vivo were measured. RESULTS: CME inhibited growth of HUVECs and HT1080 (P<0.01). CME 100and 200 mg/L reduced MMP-2 gene expression in HT1080 cells by 6.0 % and 22.9 % after 3-h and 14.9 % and32.8 % after 6-h treatment. CME did not affect MMP-9 gene expression in B16-F10 melanoma cells. CME 100 and200 mg/L also reduced bFGF gene expression in HUVECs by 22.2 % and 41.3 %. CME inhibited tube formation ofendothelial cells in vitro and in vivo. CME repressed the growth of B16-F10 melanoma cells in mice compared withcontrol group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: CME has antiangiogenetic properties.

Optic perineuritis as an initial presentation of ocular toxoplasmosis:a case report

Dear Editor,Ocular toxoplasmosis,caused by Toxoplasma gondii infection,is one of the most common causes of posterior uveitis worldwide[1].It typically manifests as white focal retinitis with overlying vitreous inflammation that results in a chorioretinal scar and associated scotoma[2].However,the diagnosis of ocular toxoplasmosis can be challenging when it presents as an isolated papillitis without other typical signs of retinochoroiditis or vitritis[2].Although optic nerve involvement in ocular toxoplasmosis was present in 5.3%of cases,isolated papillitis was extremely rare(3 eyes out of 926 patients)and was only considered a presumed diagnosis in such cases given the presence of old toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis lesions[3].Few reports have described optic nerve involvement preceding toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis,while perineuritis,an uncommon form of orbital inflammatory disease involving the optic nerve sheath,has not been reported at all[4-5].Herein,we describe a case of ocular toxoplasmosis that initially presented with optic perineuritis followed by typical retinochoroidal *** our knowledge,this is the first case report of ocular toxoplasmosis with perineuritis in an immunocompetent individual.

Retroperitoneal desmoplastic small round cell tumor:Pediatric patient treated with multimodal therapy

A desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare, aggressive mesenchymal neoplasm. Although a DSRCT can develop at various sites, the intraabdominal site is the most common location. These tumors are found most commonly among young adolescents and the prognosis is extremely poor. Multimodal treatment with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy is very important for these rare cases, and this treatment can improve patient survival. In this report, we describe the case of an 8-year-old boy diagnosed with DSRCT located in the retroperitoneal space. The patient has undergone surgical resection and adjuvant chemoradiation therapy, and is currently alive without disease recurrence.

Background:Sperm quality evaluation is the logical first step in increasing field *** contain cytoplasmic organelles and biomolecules known as sperm-intrinsic factors,which play key roles in sperm maturation,sperm-oocyte fusion,and embryo *** particular,sperm membrane proteins[e.g.,arginine vasopressin receptor 2,beta-actin,prohibitin,and heat shock protein family D member 1(HSPD1)]and RNA could be used as functional indicators of male *** sought to clarify the effects of differential mRNA expression of selected genes on several fertilisation parameters,including sperm motility,motion kinematics,capacitation,and litter size,in a porcine ***:Our results demonstrated that HSPD1 expression was significantly correlated with male fertility,as measured by the litter size of inseminated *** expression of HSPD1 mRNA was linked to sperm motility and other motion kinematic ***,HSPD1 had a 66.7%overall accuracy in detecting male fertility,and the high-litter size group which was selected with the HSPD1 marker had a 1.34 greater litter size than the lowlitter size ***:Our findings indicate that HSPD1 might be a helpful biomarker for superior boar selection for artificial insemination,which could boost field fertility.
