Hepatitis B virus(HBV)-induced liver failure is an emergent liver disease leading to high *** severity of liver failure may be reflected by the profile of some *** study assessed the potential of using metabolites as bio- markers for liver failure by identifying metabolites with good discriminative performance for its *** serum samples from 24 HBV-induced liver failure patients and 23 healthy volunteers were collected and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)to generate metabolite *** 24 patients were further grouped into two classes according to the severity of liver ***-five commensal peaks in all metabolite profiles were extracted,and the relative area values of these peaks were used as features for each *** algorithms,F-test,k-nearest neighbor(KNN)and fuzzy support vector machine(FSVM)combined with exhaustive search(ES),were employed to identify a subset of metabolites(biomarkers)that best predict liver *** on the achieved experimental dataset,93.62%predictive accuracy by 6 features was selected with FSVM-ES and three key metabolites,glyceric acid,cis-aconitic acid and citric acid,are identified as potential diagnostic bio- markers.

The classic anisotropic spherical cloak can be mimicked by many alternating thin layers of isotropic metamaterials [Qiu et al. Phys. Rev. E 79 （2009） 047602]. We propose an improved method of designing permittivity and permeability in each isotropic layer, which eliminates the jumping of the refractive index at the interface. Multilayered spherical cloaks designed by the present method perform much better than those by Qiu et al., especially for forward scattering. It is found that the ratio of layer thickness to the operating wavelength plays an important role in achieving invisibility. The presented cloak should be discretized to at least 40 layers to meet the thickness threshold corresponding to 10% scattering.

The synergistic inhibitive effect of cysteine(Cys)and iodide ions on the corrosion behavior of copper was examined in a 0.5 mol·L^(-1) Na_(2)SO_(4) *** polarization curve revealed that Cys acted as a mixed type inhibitor with a major effect on the cathodic process,consequently decreased the corrosion current density by a great extent and shifted the corrosion potential *** investigated results suggested that iodide ions can enhance the inhibition efficiency of *** inhibition mechanism of Cys and the synergistic effect of the two examined reagents were investigated by fitting experimental impedance data according to a projected equivalent circuit for metal/electrolyte *** analysis further confirmed that the corrosion inhibition was realized due to the adsorption of the inhibitor molecules at the metal/solution *** adsorption isotherm was proposed to describe inhibition mechanism of Cys on copper *** sites of Cys molecule were used to form inhibitor film on the copper *** of iodide ion increased its inhibition efficiency by enhancing adsorption of Cys cations through electrostatic interaction with I-pre-adsorbed on Cu surface.

Background It is very difficult and relatively unpredictable to preserve and restore severely weakened pulpless roots. To provide much needed benefit basis for clinical practice, this study was carried out to analyze the stress distribution in weakened roots restored with different cements in combination with titanium alloy posts. Finite element analysis （FEA） was employed in the study. Methods A pseudo three-dimensional model of a maxillary central incisor with flared root canal, theoretically restored with titanium alloy posts in combination with different cements, was established. The analysis was performed by use of ANSYS software. The tooth was assumed to be isotropic, homogenous and elastic. A load of 100 N at an angle of 45° to the longitudinal axis was applied at the palatal surface of the crown. The distributions of stresses in weakened roots filled with cements of different elastic modulus were analyzed by the three-dimensional FEA model. Results Several stress trends were observed when the stress cloud atlas obtained in the study was analyzed. With the increase of the elastic modulus of cements from 1.8 GPa to 22.4 GPa, the stress values in dentin decreased from 39.58 MPa to 31.43 MPa and from 24.51 MPa to 20.76 MPa （respectively, for maximum principle stress values and Von Mises stress values）. When Panavia F and zinc phosphate cement were used, the stress peak values in dentin were very small with no significant difference observed, and the Von Mises stress values were 20.87 MPa and 20.76 MPa respectively. On the other hand, maximum principle stress value and Von Mises stress value in cement layer increased with the increase of the elastic modulus of cements. Conclusions The result of this study demonstrated that elastic modulus was indeed one of the important parameters to evaluate property of the cements. Supplementary inferior phrenic artery embolization in the interventional treatment of hemoptysis

Background Transcatheter bronchial artery embolization （BAE） is widely used for the treatment of hemoptysis and the immediate success rate is high, but there are still some hemorrhage recurrences. One of the common reasons for failure of BAE is collateral branches as blood supply. The inferior phrenic artery （IPA） is one of the most common collateral branches that is scarcely reported. Our purpose was to observe manifestations of IPA supplying to hemoptysis and evaluate the efficacy and safety of IPA embolization. Methods Angiography during interventional treatment of 178 hemoptysis patients in the past 7 years confirmed that IPA hemorrhage resulted in hemoptysis in 25 patients （26-67 years old） who had： lung cancer （11 patients）, bronchiectasis （11 patients）, chronic lung inflammation （2 patients）, and pulmonary tuberculosis （1 patient）. Among the 25 patients, 7 patients had twice interventional operations within one week and 6 patients still experienced intraoperative hemoptysis after conventional embolization of the bronchial artery, the internal thoracic artery, and the intercostal artery, then had the second interventional operation immediately. The total number of cases were 191. Selective embolization of the IPA was performed using polyvinyl alcohol microspheres, gelatin sponge particles, and microcoil. The safety and clinical significance of IPA embolization were evaluated. The Pearson X2 test and Fisher＇s exact probability test were used in this study. Results Selective IPA angiography showed increased diameter of the IPA, disorganization of the branches, and varying degrees of angiogenesis. In 11 cases, contrast material was seen in vessels supplying the tumor and in the tumor. In 9 cases, contrast material had leaked into the area supplied by the IPA; in 8 cases, non-specific flake-like deposits of contrast material were seen; and in 14 cases, abnormal communication or shunt was visualized. Cathepsin L gene is a member of the cysteine proteinase gene group. In this study Cathepsin L gene was isolated from Kuruma shrimp Marsupenaeusjaponicus （Mj-Cathepsin L） and the full-length DNA sequence was 1 963 bp. Mj-Cathepsin L protein showed high homologies with other Cathepsin L proteins documented in vertebrates, mollusks and other crustaceans. Expression analysis of Mj-Cathepsin L gene in different tissues revealed that it was predominant in hepatopancreas. During early ontogenetic development stages Mj-Cathepsin L showed a development-regulated expression, and the Mj-Cathepsin L showed a molting stage-regulated expression during the five molting stages, inferring its role in the ontogenic development of ***. Two kinds of forms of Mj- Cathepsin L protein： pro-Cathepsin L and Cathepsin L were measured in hepatopancreas, stomach and intestine by Western Blotting.

AIM: To summarize our methods and experience with interventional treatment for symptomatic acute-sub-acute portal vein and superior mesenteric vein throm-bosis (PV-SMV) thrombosis. METHODS: Forty-six patients (30 males, 16 females, aged 17-68 years) with symptomatic acute-subacute portal and superior mesenteric vein thrombosis were ac-curately diagnosed with Doppler ultrasound scans, com-puted tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. They were treated with interventional therapy, including direct thrombolysis (26 cases through a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt; 6 through percutane-ous transhepatic portal vein cannulation) and indirect thrombolysis (10 through the femoral artery to superior mesenteric artery catheterization; 4 through the radial artery to superior mesenteric artery catheterization). RESULTS: The blood reperfusion of PV-SMV was achieved completely or partially in 34 patients 3-13 d after thrombolysis. In 11 patients there was no PV-SMV blood reperfusion but the number of collateral vessels increased signif icantly. Symptoms in these 45 patients were improved dramatically without severe operationalcomplications. In 1 patient, the thrombi did not respond to the interventional treatment and resulted in intestinal necrosis, which required surgical treatment. In 3 patients with interventional treatment, thrombi reformed 1, 3 and 4 mo after treatment. In these 3 patients, indirect PV-SMV thrombolysis was performed again and was successful. CONCLUSION: Interventional treatment, including direct or indirect PV-SMV thrombolysis, is a safe and effective method for patients with symptomatic acutesubacute PV-SMV thrombosis.
