OBJECTIVE： It is unknown whether the psoas major muscle, thought to be a key muscle for treatment of lower back pain, can be punctured at Shenshu（BL23）.METHODS： Twelve dissected specimens were used for studying the needling pathway of BL23 by perpendicularly inserting the depth-measuring blade of a vernier caliper at BL23. Dimensions of psoas muscle were measured. Correlation studies were conducted. In addition, our samples were grouped by gender and underlying medical conditions for ***： Half（50%） of the needle insertions successfully punctured psoas muscle. The mean depth of needle insertion to puncture psoas muscle（D_（min）） in the group with short-term underlying medical conditions was 38.0 mm（interquartile range 29.0–51.8 mm）, approximately 6 mm deeper than 32.0（29.3–42.5） mm in the group with long-term health problems（P = 0.041）. The cross-sectional area（CSA） of psoas muscle in the former group was on average approximately 1.5 times that of the latter group（P = 0.04）. When the data were analysed by gender, the thickness of psoas muscle in the male group was 19.0（6.5–24.0） mm compared to 19.5（5.8–34.8） mm in the female group（P = 0.02）. The age in the female group（P = 0.04） and the body length of the total group（P = 0.04） negatively correlated to D_（min）.CONCLUSION： Needle insertion at BL23 might be able to puncture psoas muscle. Differences in the CSA of psoas muscle and D_（min） were observed in groups with short-term and long-term underlying medical conditions.

The rapid advancement of fundamental theories and computing capacity has brought artificial intelligence,internet of things, extended reality, and many other new intelligent technologies into our daily lives. Due to the lack of interpretability and reliability guarantees, it is extremely challenging to apply these technologies directly to real-world industrial systems. Here we present a new paradigm for establishing parallel factories in metaverses to accelerate the deployment of intelligent technologies in real-world industrial systems: QAII-1.0. Based on cyber-physical-social systems,QAII-1.0 incorporates complex social and human factors into the design and analysis of industrial operations and is capable of handling industrial operations involving complex social and human behaviors. In QAII-1.0, a field foundational model called Eu Artisan combined with scenarios engineering is developed to improve the intelligence of industrial systems while ensuring industrial interpretability and reliability. Finally, parallel oil fields in metaverses are established to demonstrate the operating procedure of QAII-1.0.

The CST bounce universe model——A parametric study

A bounce universe model with a scale-invariant and stable spectrum of primordial density perturbations was constructed using a consistent truncation of the D-brane dynamics from Type IIB string theory. A coupling was introduced between the tachyon field and the adjoint Higgs field on the D3-branes to lock the tachyon at the top of its potential hill and to model the bounce process,which is known as the Coupled Scalar and Tachyon Bounce(CSTB) Universe. The CSTB model has been shown to be ghost free,and it fulfils the null energy condition; in addition, it can also solve the Big Bang cosmic singularity problem. In this paper we conduct an extensive follow-up study of the parameter space of the CSTB model. In particular we are interested in the parameter values that can produce a single bounce to arrive at a radiation-dominated universe. We further establish that the CSTB universe is a viable alternative to inflation, as it can naturally produce a sufficient number of e-foldings in the locked inflation epoch and in the post-bounce expansion to overcome the four fundamental limitations of the Big Bang cosmology, which are flatness, horizon,homogeneity and singularity, resulting in a universe of the current size.

Previous studies have demonstrated that spheroid type cells grown under suspension culture conditions have cancer stem cell（CSC） traits in a number of cancers, but this phenomenon has not yet been reported in the VX2 rabbit oral cancer model. Hence, this study aimed to study the spheroid cells from VX2 rabbit buccal squamous cell carcinomas（SCCs） and assess their CSC characteristics. Five adult male New Zealand white outbred rabbits were used to generate VX2 rabbit buccal SCC. Sphere-forming cell culture was performed for the VX2 rabbit buccal SCC specimens. The self-renewal capability; cluster of designation（CD） 44, CD133, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase 1（ALDH1）, B cell-specific Moloney murine leukemia virus integration site 1（Bmi-1）, Nestin, octamer-binding transcription factor 4（Oct4）and reduced expression protein-1（Rex-1） expression with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction（RT-PCR）; chemoresistance to cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil; and in vivo tumorigenicity of spheroid cell transplantation in nude mice were evaluated to determine the CSC characteristics of the resulting spheroid cells. We successfully obtained spheroid cells from the VX2 rabbit OSCC tissues. The spheroid cells exhibited CSC traits, including the expression of CSC and stem cell markers（CD44, Bmi-1, Nestin, Oct4 and Rex-1）, capacity to generate new spheroid colonies within 1 week of reseeding from single-dissociated spheroid cells, chemoresistance capacity and generation of tumour xenografts（with histological features resembling those of the original VX2 rabbit buccal SCC） from the transplantation of 103 undifferentiated spheroid cells into nude mice. In summary, we demonstrated that spheroid cells with CSC cell traits can be derived from VX2 rabbit buccal SCCs, indicating that this animal cancer model is applicable for studying CSCs in human oral cancers.

Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi is the most widely used medicinal plant in traditional Eastem medicine, especially in Chinese medicine. The major phytochemicals isolated from S. baicalensis are flavonoids, glycosides and their glucoronides such as baicalin, baicalein, wogonin etc. More than 30 different kinds of flavonoids are isolated from this plant. S. baicalensis and its flavonoids are reported to have several pharmacological activities, which includes anti-allergic, antioxidant, anti apoptic, anti-inflammatory effects and many more. Recently, S. baicalensis and its isolated flavonoids have been studied for their neuroprotective effects, through a variety of in vitro and in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases, plausibly suggesting that S. baicalensis has salutary effect as a nature＇s blessing for neuroprotection. In this review, we are focousing on the neuroprotective effects of S. baicalensis and its flavonoids in ischemia or stroke-induced neuronal cell death. We aimed at compiling all the information regarding the neuroprotective effect of S. baicalensis in various experimental models of cerebral ischemia or stroke.

The spatiotemporal distributions of microbes in soil by different methods could affect the efficacy of the microbes to reduce the soil hydraulic *** this study,the specimens of bio-mediated sands were prepared using three different methods,***,mixing,and pouring a given microbial so-lution onto compacted sand *** hydraulic conductivity was measured by constant-head tests,while any soil microstructural changes due to addition of the microbes were observed by scan-ning electron microscope(SEM)and mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP)*** amount of dextran concentration produced by microbes in each type of specimen was quantified by a *** show that dextran production increased exponentially after 5-7 d of microbial settling with the supply of culture *** injection and mixing methods resulted in a similar amount and uniform dis-tribution of dextran in the *** pouring method,however,produced a nonuniform distri-bution,with a higher concentration near the specimen *** the supply of culture medium discontinued,the dextran content near the surface produced by the pouring method decreased dramatically due to high competition for nutrients with foreign *** dextran concentration was negatively and correlated with hydraulic conductivity of bio-mediated soils exponentially,due to the clogging of large soil pores by *** hydraulic conductivity of the injection and mixing cases did not change significantly when the supply of culture medium was absent.

Compound eyes found in insects provide intriguing sources of biological inspiration for miniaturised imaging ***,we report an ultrathin arrayed camera inspired by insect eye structures for high-contrast and super-resolution *** ultrathin camera features micro-optical elements(MOEs),i.e.,inverted microlenses,multilayered pinhole arrays,and gap spacers on an image *** MOE was fabricated by using repeated photolithography and thermal *** fully packaged camera shows a total track length of 740μm and a field-of-view(FOV)of 73°.The experimental results demonstrate that the multilayered pinhole of the MOE allows high-contrast imaging by eliminating the optical crosstalk between *** integral image reconstructed from array images clearly increases the modulation transfer function(MTF)by~1.57 times compared to that of a single channel image in the ultrathin *** ultrathin arrayed camera provides a novel and practical direction for diverse mobile,surveillance or medical applications.

This paper is based on a study of three Confucius Institutes in *** research aims to explore the nature of operations at Confucius Institutes,ranging from the selection of partnering Chinese universities,to the program planning at each individual ***,it focuses on the perceived impacts of the Confucius Institute partnership on the Canadian hosting *** was collected through interviews with key administrative staff from three Canadian *** theoretical framework of constructivism from international relations theory and concepts drawn from the literature on the internationalization of higher education were used to analyze the *** issues revealed from the data include the host’s perception of Confucius Institutes as China’s cultural diplomacy and soft power strategy,the progression of partnerships between Canada and China over time,and university autonomy.
