Variation Characteristics of Root Traits of Different Alfalfa Cultivars under Saline-Alkaline Stress and their Relationship with Soil Environmental Factors

Soil salinization is the main factor that threatens the growth and development of plants and limits the increase of *** is of great significance to study the key soil environmental factors affecting plant root traits to reveal the adaptation strategies of plants to saline-alkaline-stressed soil *** this study,the root biomass,root morphological parameters and root mineral nutrient content of two alfalfa cultivars with different sensitivities to alkaline stress were analyzed with black soil as the control group and the mixed saline-alkaline soil with a ratio of 7:3 between black soil and saline-alkaline soil as the saline-alkaline treatment *** the same time,the correlation analysis of soil salinity indexes,soil nutrient indexes and the activities of key enzymes involved in soil carbon,nitrogen and phosphorus cycles was carried *** results showed that compared with the control group,the pH,EC,and urease(URE)of the soil surrounding the roots of two alfalfa cultivars were significantly increased,while soil total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),organic carbon(SOC),andα-glucosidase activity(AGC)were significantly decreased under saline-alkaline *** was no significant difference in root biomass and root morphological parameters of saline-alkaline tolerant cultivar GN under saline-alkaline *** number of root tips(RT),root surface area(RS)and root volume(RV)of AG were reduced by 61.16%,44.54%,and 45.31%,respectively,compared with control *** ratios of K^(+)/Na^(+),Ca^(2+)/Na^(+)and Mg^(2+)/Na^(+)of GN were significantly higher than those of AG(p<0.05).The root fresh weight(RFW)and dry weight(RDW),root length(RL),RV and RT of alfalfa were positively regulated by soil SOC and TN,but negatively regulated by soil pH,EC,and URE(p<0.01).Root Ca^(2+)/Na+ratio was significantly positively correlated with soil TN,TP and SOC(p<0.01).The absorption of Mg and Ca ions in roots is significantly negatively regulated by soilβ-glucosidase ac

Dislocation stability in three-phase nanocomposites with imperfect interface

Interface imperfection can significantly affect the mechanical properties and failure mechanisms as well as the strength and toughness of nanocomposites. The elastic behavior of a screw dislocation in nanoscale coating with imperfect interface is studied in the three-phase composite cylinder model. The interface between inner nanoin- homogeneity and intermediate coating is assumed as perfectly bonded. The bonding between intermediate coating and outer matrix is considered to be imperfect with the assumption that interface imperfection is uniform, and a linear spring model is adopted to describe the weakness of imperfect interface. The explicit expression for image force acting on dislocation is obtained by means of a complex variable method. The analytic results indicate that inner interface effect and outer interface imperfection, simultaneously taken into account, would influence greatly image force, equilibrium position and stability of dislocation, and various critical parameters that would change dislocation stability. The weaker interface is a very strong trap for glide dislocation and, thus, a more effective barrier for slip transmission.

High Performance Affinity Chromatography of Antithrombin III Based on Monodisperse Poly (glycidyl methacrylate) Beads

A new approach for the separation of antithrombin III with high performance affinity chromatography (HPAC) was described. A novel monodisperse, non-porous, cross-linked poly (glycidyl methacrylate) beads (PGMA) were used as the affinity support. With the water-soluble carbodiimide, heparin was linked covalently to amino-PGMA-beads, which was prepared by amination of PGMA. The adsorbent obtained exhibits high binding activity to antithrombin III (ATIII), good resolution and excellent mechanical properties and can be used under high flow rate.

Selective separation and enrichment of proteins in aqueous two-phase extraction system

A simple aqueous two-phase extraction system （ATPS） of PEG/phosphate was proposed for selective separation and enrichment of proteins. The combination of ATPE with HPLC was applied to identify the partition of proteins in two phases. Five proteins （bovine serum albumin, Cytochrome C, lysozyme, myoglobin, and trypsin） were used as model proteins to study the effect of phosphate concentration and pH on proteins partition. The PEG/phosphate system was firstly applied to real human saliva and plasma samples, some proteins showed obviously different partition in two phases. The primary results manifest the selective separation and enrichment of proteins in ATPS provided the potential for high abundance proteins depletion in proteomics. ~ 2009 Feng Qu. Threshold Selection and Resource Allocation for Quantized Identification

This paper is concerned with the optimal threshold selection and resource allocation problems of quantized identification, whose aims are improving identification efficiency under limited resources. Firstly, the first-order asymptotically optimal quantized identification theory is extended to the weak persistent excitation condition. Secondly, the characteristics of time and space complexities are established based on the Cramér-Rao lower bound of quantized systems. On these basis, the optimal selection methods of fixed thresholds and adaptive thresholds are established under aperiodic signals, which answer how to achieve the best efficiency of quantized identification under the same time and space complexity. In addition, based on the principle of maximizing the identification efficiency under a given resource, the optimal resource allocation methods of quantized identification are given for the cases of fixed thresholds and adaptive thresholds, respectively, which show how to balance time and space complexity to realize the best identification efficiency of quantized identification.

BACKGROUND The benefits of healthy lifestyles are well recognized. However, the extent to which improving unhealthy lifestyles reduces cardiovascular disease(CVD) risk needs to be discussed. We evaluated the impact of lifestyle improvement on CVD incidence using data from the China-PAR project(Prediction for Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China).METHODS A total of 12,588 participants free of CVD were followed up for three visits after the baseline examination. Changes in four lifestyle factors(LFs)(smoking, diet, physical activity, and alcohol consumption) were assessed through questionnaires from the baseline to the first follow-up visit. Cox proportional hazard models were used to estimate hazard ratios(HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals(CIs). The risk advancement periods(RAPs: the age difference between exposed and unexposed participants reaching the same incident CVD risk) and population-attributable risk percentage(PAR%) were also *** A total of 909 incident CVD cases occurred over a median follow-up of 11.14 years. Compared with maintaining 0-1healthy LFs, maintaining 3–4 healthy LFs was associated with a 40% risk reduction of incident CVD(HR = 0.60, 95% CI: 0.45–0.79)and delayed CVD risk by 6.31 years(RAP:-6.31 [-9.92,-2.70] years). The PAR% of maintaining 3–4 unhealthy LFs was 22.0%compared to maintaining 0-1 unhealthy LFs. Besides, compared with maintaining two healthy LFs, improving healthy LFs from 2to 3–4 was associated with a 23% lower risk of CVD(HR = 0.77, 95% CI: 0.60–0.98).CONCLUSIONS Long-term sustenance of healthy lifestyles or improving unhealthy lifestyles can reduce and delay CVD risk.

采用蓝绿温和胶凝胶电泳(blue-nativepolyacrylamidegel-electrophoresis,BN-PAGE),以及改进的第二向SDS-PAGE分离了水稻低叶绿素b突变体ZH249-Y和野生型ZH249-W类囊体膜蛋白复合物,系统比较了突变体和野生型各复合物亚基的表达差异.结果显示,第一向BN-PAGE分离了PSⅠ-LHCⅠ、LHCⅠ缺失的PSⅠ、ATP合成酶、细胞色素b6f、CP43缺失的PSⅡ及LHCⅡ六种复合物.上述各复合物经第二相SDS-Urea-PAGE分离后,利用胶内酶解,高效液相层析分离肽段,电喷雾串联质谱鉴定了复合物的亚基.结合免疫印迹研究,证明和野生型相比,突变体光系统Ⅱ捕光天线复合体的表达量适度下降,但光系统Ⅰ捕光天线破坏严重,同时光系统Ⅱ核心蛋白和ATP合成酶的表达量上升.研究结果对揭示低叶绿素b水稻突变体较高光化学效率和光稳定性的分子基础提供了线索,同时也表明,改进的BN/SDS-PAGE双向电泳不仅可以有效地分离膜蛋白复合物及亚基,也可以进行不同生理条件下,或野生型和突变体之间膜蛋白质组的比较研究.

To the Editor:A 54-year-old man was admitted for progressive chest *** years ago,the patient had surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR),and preoperative multislice computed tomography (MSCT)showed no coronary stenosis.A year after SAVR,he presented with chest pain,and coronary angiogram revealed an isolated ostial left main coronary artery (LMCA) stenosis [Figure 1a].A 4.0mm × 18.0mm stent (Medtronic Vascular, Santa Rosa,CA,USA)was implanted without a high-pressure postdilation [Figure 1b].The patient was discharged on aspirin, ticagrelor (replaced with clopidogrel after 3months),and statins. Unfortunately,the stent was found to protrude into the aorta by approximately 10mm by MSCT at 4-month follow-up [Figure 1c].

FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3(FLT3)mutation is strongly associated with poor prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia(AML).Though many FLT3 inhibitors have been developed for clinical application with 34%-56%complete remission rate,patients would develop resistance sooner or later after initial response to tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs),such as *** increasing studies have shown that several resistance related mutations of FLT3 emerged during the AML ***,further investigation is warranted for these FLT3mu,AML patients to achieve a better treatment outcome.4-Hydroxyphenyl retinamide(4-HPR)has been investigated extensively in animal models and clinical trials as an anticancer/chemopreventive agent and is currently used for protection against cancer development/recurrence,with minimal side *** this study,we performed gene-set enrichment analysis and found that down-regulated genes induced by 4-HPR were associated with FLT3-ITD gene ***34+ AML stem/progenitor cells separated from 32 AML samples were treated with *** analysis showed that AML cells with FLT3-ITD genetic alteration were more sensitive to 4-HPR treatment than those without ***,we treated 22 primary AML cells with 4-HPR and found that 4-HPR was more toxic to AML cells with *** results indicated that 4-HPR was preferentially cytotoxic to all FLT3-ITD AML cells irrespective of stem/progenitor cells or blast cells.4-HPR-induced reactive oxygen species(ROS)production and NF-kB inhibition might be the reason of 4-HPR selectivity on FLT3 mutated AML cells.

Associations of soybean products intake with blood pressure changes and hypertension incidence: the China-PAR project

Background The relationships between dietary intake of soybean products and incident hypertension were still *** study aimed to illustrate the associations between intake of soybean products with risks of incident hypertension and longitudinal changes of blood pressure in a prospective cohort *** We included 67,499 general Chinese adults from the Project of Prediction for Atherosclerosis Cardiovascular Disease Risk in China(China-PAR).Information about soybean products consumption was collected by standardized questionnaires,and study participants were categorized into the ideal(≥125 g/day)or non-ideal(<125 g/day)*** ratios(HRs)and corresponding 95%confidence intervals(95%CIs)for incident hypertension were calculated using Cox proportional hazard *** participants with repeated measures of blood pressure,generalized linear models were used to examine the relationships between soybean products consumption and blood pressure *** During a median follow-up of 7.4 years,compared with participants who consumed<125 g of soybean products per day,multivariable adjusted HR for those in the ideal group was 0.73(0.67-0.80).This inverse association remained robust across most subgroups while significant interactions were tested between soybean products intake and age,sex,urbanization and geographic region(P values for interaction<0.05).The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels were 1.05(0.71-1.39)mmHg and 0.44(0.22-0.66)mmHg lower among participants in the ideal group than those in the non-ideal *** Our study showed that intake of soybean products might reduce the long-term blood pressure levels and hypertension incidence among Chinese population,which has important public health implications for primary prevention of hypertension.
