Hematological profile of COVID-19 infected children before and after the spread of the Omicron variant in Istanbul

Objective:To examine the effect of the COVID-19 virus,especially the Omicron variant,on hematological parameters of hospitalized pediatric patients during the COVID-19 ***:Medical records of pediatric COVID-19 patients hospitalized at Kartal Dr.Lütfi K?rdar City Hospital in Istanbul,Turkey,between March 2020 and May 2022 were retrospectively reviewed to analyze data regarding demographics,SARS-Co V-2 infection polymerase chain reaction(PCR)test results,reversetranscriptase(RT)-PCR for other respiratory agents,duration of hospital stay,and hematological and biochemical laboratory ***:Out of 467 children with a confirmed diagnosis of SARSCo V-2 infection,94(20.1%)had Omicron infection and 373(79.9%)were infected with other variants;the Omicron group had younger patients than the remaining samples(Pnt clinical symptoms in all children were cough(53.5%)and fever(32.3%),followed by vomiting(20.8%).Lung involvement in the Omicron group(10.6%)was significantly lower than in the remaining samples(29.8%)(Pn and lymphocyte levels were lower in the Omicron-infected group(both Pn time,activated partial thromboplastin time,international normalized ratio,and D-dimer levels were significantly higher in this group(Pnd P=0.023,respectively).In terms of lung involvement,those with lung involvement were significantly older(Pnclusions:Although lung involvement was less common with Omicron infection,this group had greater hematological system involvement,such as anemia,lymphopenia,D-dimer elevation,and coagulation disorders.

Objective:To examine the effects of human bocavirus type 1(HBoV1)on the course of lower respiratory tract infections in cases of monoinfection and coinfection,and the effects of HBoV1 viral load on the disease in children under six years old hospitalized with a diagnosis of HBoV1-associated lower respiratory tract ***:Children under six years of age,who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection due to HBoV1 between 1 January 2021 and 1 January 2022 were included in the *** confirmation of the respiratory pathogens was performed using polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results:Fifty-four(16.4%)children with HBoV1 among 329 children whose PCR was positive with bacterial/viral agent in nasopharyngeal swab samples were included in the *** were 28(51.9%)males and 26(48.1%)females with a median age 23.4 months[interquartile range(IQR):13.2,30.0 months](min-max:1 month-68 months).HBoV1 was detected as a monoinfecton in 26(48.1%)children,and as a coinfection with other respiratory agents in 28 children(51.9%).In multiple regression analysis,coinfection(P=0.032)was associated with the length of hospitalization(Pnegative correlation(r=−0.281,P=0.040)between cough and cycle *** was found to be positively correlated with C-reactive protein(r=0.568,Pnd procalcitonin(r=0.472;P=0.001).Conclusions:Although we found a higher HBoV1 viral load in children with more cough symptoms in our study,it had no effect on the severity of the disease,such as length of hospital stay and need for intensive *** was found to affect the length of hospitalization.

The Evaluation of the Dietary Habits Influence on the Microhardness of Gingiva-Coloured Composite and Acrylic Denture Base Materials

Purpose: The study investigated the impact of dietary habits, specifically soda, milk kefir, water kefir, almond milk, and distilled water (control) consumption, on the microhardness of gingiva-coloured composite and acrylic denture bases. Methods: Materials included gingiva-coloured composite (Fusion Universal G1), acrylic (Imicryl), and subdivided Procryla group. Subgroups comprised 15 and 30-minute heat polymerized (Pro15, Pro30), and 1 wt% (Pro1Z) and 3 wt% (Pro3Z) zirconium added groups. Immersed in beverages for 1, 7, and 14 days, pH and microhardness were assessed. SEM examined random samples. Statistical analysis used repeated measures AnOVA, and post hoc tests (p Results: The gingiva-coloured composites displayed noteworthy time-associated microhardness changes (p 0.05). Despite variable pH levels in beverages, no substantial group interaction effects were observed (p > 0.05). Initial microhardness rankings shifted after a 14-day immersion. Conclusions: Gingiva-coloured composite exhibited the highest microhardness pre- and post-immersion, followed by Procryla30 and Imicryl groups. .

BACKGROUnD Brachial artery aneurysms are defined as dilations greater than 50%of the normal diameter,which are rare among all peripheral arterial *** they are often present as pseudoaneurysms,true brachial artery aneurysms are also detected *** this case report,the surgical repair method of true brachial artery aneurysms,which is a rare condition,is *** SUMMARY Herein,we present a 61-year-old male patient with complaints of swelling and pain in the right arm antecubital region that had been progressing over 6 *** the diagnosis of a true brachial artery aneurysm associated with arteriovenous fistula,the aneurysm was surgically repaired with an autologous saphenous vein *** patient was discharged without any neurovascular complications *** True brachial artery aneurysms are rare and there are not any recommendations for their management in the current *** though the treatment of true aneurysms in this artery is primarily based on a surgical treatment,endovascular repair also might be an option.

Gaussian Kernel Based SVR Model for Short-Term Photovoltaic MPP Power Prediction

Predicting the power obtained at the output of the photovoltaic(PV)system is fundamental for the optimum use of the PV ***,it varies at different times of the day depending on intermittent and nonlinear environmen-tal conditions including solar irradiation,temperature and the wind speed,Short-term power prediction is vital in PV systems to reconcile generation and demand in terms of the cost and capacity of the *** this study,a Gaussian kernel based Support Vector Regression(SVR)prediction model using multiple input variables is proposed for estimating the maximum power obtained from using per-turb observation method in the different irradiation and the different temperatures for a short-term in the DC-DC boost converter at the PV *** performance of the kernel-based prediction model depends on the availability of a suitable ker-nel function that matches the learning objective,since an unsuitable kernel func-tion or hyper parameter tuning results in signiﬁcantly poor *** this study for theﬁrst time in the literature both maximum power is obtained at max-imum power point and short-term maximum power estimation is *** evaluating the performance of the suggested model,the PV power data simulated at variable irradiations and variable temperatures for one day in the PV system simulated in MATLAB were *** maximum power obtained from the simu-lated system at maximum irradiance was 852.6 *** accuracy and the perfor-mance evaluation of suggested forecasting model were identiﬁed utilizing the computing error statistics such as root mean square error(RMSE)and mean square error(MSE)*** and RMSE rates which obtained were 4.5566*10-04 and 0.0213 using Ann *** and RMSE rates which obtained were 13.0000*10-04 and 0.0362 using SWD-FFnn *** SVR model,1.1548*10-05 MSE and 0.0034 RMSE rates were *** the short-term maximum power prediction,SVR gave higher prediction performance according to Ann and SWD-FFnn.

Removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution by sawdust adsorption

The adsorption of lead, cadmium and nicel from aqueous solution by sawdust of walnut was investigated. The effect of contact time, initial metal ion concentration and temperature on metal ions removal has been studied. The equilibrium time was found to be of the order of 60 min. Kinetics fit pseudo first-order, second-order and intraparticle diffusion models, hence adsorption rate constants were calculated. The adsorption data of metal ions at temperatures of 25, 45 and 60~C have been described by the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models. The thermodynamic parameters such as energy, entropy and enthalpy changes for the adsorption of heavy metal ions have also been computed and discussed. Ion exchange is probably one of the major adsorption mechanisms for binding divalent metal ions to the walnut sawdust. The selectivity order of the adsorbent is Pb（I1）~Cd（II）〉ni（I1）. From these results, it can be concluded that the sawdust of walnut could be a good adsorbent for the metal ions from aqueous solutions.

Performance of Lung Cancer Prediction Methods Using Different Classification Algorithms

In 2018,1.76 million people worldwide died of lung *** of these deaths are due to late diagnosis,and early-stage diagnosis significantly increases the likelihood of a successful treatment for lung *** learning is a branch of artificial intelligence that allows computers to quickly identify patterns within complex and large datasets by learning from existing ***-learning techniques have been improving rapidly and are increasingly used by medical professionals for the successful classification and diagnosis of early-stage *** are widely used in cancer *** particular,machine learning has been used in the diagnosis of lung cancer due to the benefits it offers doctors and *** this context,we performed a study on machine-learning techniques to increase the classification accuracy of lung cancer with 32×56 sized numerical data from the Machine Learning Repository web site of the University of California,*** this study,the precision of the classification model was increased by the effective employment of pre-processing methods instead of direct use of classification *** datasets were derived with pre-processing methods and six machine-learning classification methods were used to achieve this *** study results suggest that the accuracy of the k-nearest neighbors algorithm is superior to random forest,naïve Bayes,logistic regression,decision tree,and support vector *** performance of pre-processing methods was assessed on the lung cancer *** most successful preprocessing methods were Z-score(83%accuracy)for normalization methods,principal component analysis(87%accuracy)for dimensionality reduction methods,and information gain(71%accuracy)for feature selection methods.

An adult case of medulloblastoma in the cerebellopontine angle extending to the supratentorial area

Medulloblastoma is an undifferentiated embryonic neuroepithelial tumor. It is a rare tumor in the central nervous system, with an even rarer occurrence during adulthood. It may develop at an atypical and uncommon site, such as the cerebellopontine angle （CPA）, and such tumors rarely present with supratentorial extension. The present study reports an adult case of medulloblastoma in the CPA extending to the supratentorial area. The patient presented with complaints of headache, vertigo, hearing difficulty in the left ear, nausea/vomiting, and unsteady gait. Disequilibrium began 4 weeks earlier. Examination revealed normal cranial nerves, and computed tomography showed a hyperdense lesion, with a heterogeneously enhancing mass, in the left CPA region. The patient underwent a nearly total excision of the lesion in the CPA region. Histopathological examination confirmed medulloblastoma, WHO grade IV. Postoperatively, the patient received radiotherapy and remained asymptomatic for 30 months. However, he received two more surgeries for relapse and progression of medulloblastoma and eventually died. A CPA medulloblastoma with supratentorial extension is relatively rare in the clinic.

Ab Initio Study on Hypothetical Silver nitride

We perform the ab initio calculations based on norm-conserving pseudopotentials and density functional theory to investigate the structural, elastic, and thermodynamical properties for silver nitride （Agn） compound that is a member of the 4d transition metal group and has not been synthesized yet. The obtained results are compared with the other available theoretical data, and the agreement is, generally, quite good. We also present the pressure-dependent behaviour of some mechanical and thermodynamical properties for the same compounds.

Some Constacyclic Codes over Z4[u]/〈u^2〉, new Gray Maps, and new Quaternary Codes

In this paper, we study λ-constacyclic codes over the ring R = Z4 ＋ uZ4, where u^2 = 0, for λ= 1 ＋ 3u and 3 ＋ u. We introduce two new Gray maps from R to Z4^4 and show that the Gray images of λ-constacyclic codes over R are quasi-cyclic over Z4. Moreover, we present many examples of λ-constacyclic codes over R whose Z4-images have better parameters than the currently best-known linear codes over Z4.
