In this study, an empirical model was developed to simulate the setting process of cement pastes, with and without limestone. Interestingly, an excellent linear correlation was found between the time required for the cement pastes to reach penetration depths of 0 mm to 40 mm (the setting process) and the physical properties of the powders comprising those pastes. The empirical model was based on this clear, linear behavior, determined by means of linear regression analysis. The developed model offers an easy way to predict and to control the setting history of any cement paste, with and without limestone additive, by simply using the available, measured physical properties of the blended cements with limestone particles of various sizes.

Graphene foam(GF)—a three-dimensional network of hollow graphene branches—is a highly attractive material for diverse ***,to date,the heat dissipation characteristics of GFs have not been *** fill this gap,we synthesized GF devices,subjected them to high temperatures,and investigated their thermal behavior by using infrared *** find that while the convective area of GF devices is comparable to that of bulk materials(such as metals),the coefficient of convection of these devices is several orders of magnitude higher than that of *** addition,the GF devices showed a reproducible thermal behavior,which we attribute to negligible temperature-induced morphological changes(as confirmed by Raman analysis).Taken together,our findings suggest GF as a promising candidate material for advanced cooling applications where efficient heat dissipation is needed,e.g.,in electrical circuits.

Background: Glycogenic hepatopathy(GH) is a disorder associated with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus,most commonly type 1, expressed as right upper quadrant abdominal pain, hepatomegaly and increased liver enzymes. The diagnosis may be difficult, because laboratory and imaging tests are not pathognomonic. Although GH may be suggested based on clinical presentation and imaging studies, the gold standard for diagnosis is a liver biopsy, showing a significant accumulation of glycogen within the hepatocytes. GH may be diagnosed also after elevated liver enzymes in routine blood tests. GH usually regresses after tight glycemic control. Progression to end-stage liver disease has never been reported. This review aims to increase the awareness to this disease, to suggest a pathway for investigation that may reduce the use of unnecessary tests, especially invasive *** sources: A Pub Med database search(up to July 1, 2017) was done with the words "glycogenic hepatopathy", "hepatic glycogenosis", "liver glycogenosis" and "diabetes mellitus-associated glycogen storage hepatopathy". Articles in which diabetes mellitus-associated liver glycogen accumulation was described were included in this ***: A total of 47 articles were found, describing 126 patients with GH. Hepatocellular disturbance was more profound than cholestatic disturbance. No synthetic failure was ***: GH may be diagnosed conservatively, based on corroborating medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, imaging studies and response to treatment, even without liver biopsy. In case of doubt about the diagnosis or lack of clinical response to treatment, a liver biopsy may be *** is no role for noninvasive tests like fibroscan or fibrotest for the diagnosis of GH or for differentiation of this situation from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Animal bites are frequently encountered in the emergency department(ED). Aortitis leading to mycotic abdominal aortic aneurysm is a rare and potentially deadly complication of Pasteurella multocida(P. multocida) following an animal bite. We present the case of a 68-year-old male who presented to the ED after falling at home. He complained of weakness and abdominal pain. He was in septic shock and was treated empirically with broad-spectrum antibiotics and intravenous fluids. He reported previous antibiotic treatment of a cellulitis secondary to a cat bite injury to his right thumb four weeks prior. Abdominal ultrasound and subsequent computed tomography scan revealed a leaking mycotic abdominal aneurysm that was surgically repaired. Blood cultures and aortic wall tissue cultures grew P. multocida. Given how common animal bite presentations are in the ED, this case highlights the need to consider aortitis and mycotic abdominal aortic aneurysm in an unwell patient with an animal bite.
