Mg2＋-ion Conducting Polymer Electrolytes： Materials Characterization and All-Solid-State Battery Performance Studies

For All-Solid-State battery applications, Mg2＋-ion conducting polymer electrolytes and Mg-metal electrode are currently considered as alternate choices in place of Li＋-ion conducting polymer electrolytes/Li-metal electrode. Present paper reports fabrication of All-Solid-State battery based on the following Mg2＋-ion conducting nano composite polymer electrolyte （NCPE） films： [85PEO： 15Mg（C104）2] ＋ 5% TiO2 （〈 100 nm）, [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2] ＋ 3% SiO2（-8 nm）. [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2] ＋ 3% MgO （〈 100 nm）, [85PEO：15Mg（C1O4）2] ＋ 3% MgO （-44 μm）. NCPE films were prepared by hot-press technique. Solid Polymer Electrolyte （SPE） composition： [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2], identified as high conducting film at room temperature, has been used as ISt--phase host and nano/micro particles of active （MgO）/passive （SiO2, TiO2） fillers as IInd-phase dispersoid. Filler particle dependent conductivity studies identified above mentioned NCPE films as optimum conducting composition （OCC） at room temperature. Ion transport behavior of SPE/NCPE film materials was investigated previously. Present paper reports materials characterization and cell performance studies on All-Solid-State batteries： Mg （Anode） Ⅱ SPE or NCPE films tt C＋MnO2＋Electrolyte （Cathode）. Open circuit voltage （OCV） obtained was in the range： 1.79-1.92 V. The batteries were discharged at room temperature under different load conditions and some important battery parameters have been evaluated from plateau region of cell-potential discharge profiles. All the batteries performed quite satisfactorily specially under low current drain states.

Prediction of Antagonistic Activity of <i>β</i>-Carboline and Its Derivatives Using Topological Descriptors

Prediction of antagonistic activity of β-carboline and its thirteen derivatives has been made using topological descriptors viz, connectivity index, and kappa shape index of different orders. For evaluation of values of descriptor, molecular modeling and geometry optimization of all the compounds were carried out with CAChe Pro software by opting semiempirical PM3 method using MOPAC 2002. For prediction of activity multiple linear regression analysis (MLR) was performed. MLR analysis has been made by Project Leader Software associated with CAChe by using the above descriptors as independent variables and biological activity as dependent variables. We were performed leave-one-out methods and the result reflected a direct relationship between biological activity and connectivity index of zero order, while indirect relationship with connectivity index of second order and thus connectivity index is a reliable descriptor to predict the biological activity of β-carboline and its various derivatives.

Surveillance of antibiotic sensitivity pattern in chronic suppurative otitis media of an Indian teaching hospital

Introduction:Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) is a common problem in worldwide and untreated CSOM leads to fatal complications like facial nerve paralysis,lateral sinus thrombosis,labyrinthitis,meningitis and brain abscess in developing country like ***:To isolate causative bacteria and antibiotic sensitivity pattern for CSOM and to know the prevalence of extended spectrum beta lactamases (ESBL) and Metallobetalactamases (MBL) in CSOM ***:A total of 500 ear swabs of clinical suspected CSOM patients were cultured on specific cultured medium and identified the bacteria with conventional *** all the identified bacteria were subjected with specific antibiotics by the Kirby-Bauer's method to know the resistance pattern of *** and MBL strains were detected by double disc diffusion ***:A total of 384 bacteria were isolated from 500 CSOM patients,among them 86 *** (22.40%),112 Staphylococcus aureus (29.17%),53 *** (13.80%),32 *** (18%),26 *** (6.77%),24 *** (6.25%),23 *** (5.99%),18 *** (4.69%) and 10 *** (2.60%) identified with conventional *** antibiotic disc diffusion methods 74.22% ESBL strains and 9.90%MBL strains were *** resistant strains of *** (86/384,22.40%) were more prevalent than those of *** (112/384,29.17%) and other bacteria in ear *** and vancomicin could control to gram negative bacteria and gram positive bacteria ***:Continuous and periodic evaluation of microbiological profile and antimicrobial sensitivity pattern of bacterial is essential for optimum management of CSOM patients.

Economics of Yield and Production of Alkaloid of <i>Withania somnifera</i>(L.) Dunal

The yield parameters and cost economics of Withania somnifera were studied using Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) treatments. Withania somnifera is cultivated in around 10,780 ha with a production of 8429 tones in India. The annual demand of this herb increased from 7028 tones (2001-2002) to 9127 tones (2004-2005). The field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Department of Plant Physiology, College of Agriculture, Jabalpur during Kharif season of 2008-2009 (1st year) and 2009-2010 (2nd year), whereas the laboratory work was carried out in Quality Laboratory, College of Agriculture, Jabalpur. The soil of experimental field was sandy loam in texture with pH 7.5, EC 0.18 dsm-1 having good drainage. Soil analysis revealed that available nitrogen was low (202.0 kg·ha-1) whereas available phosphorus (16.25 kg·ha-1) and potassium (236.0 kg·ha-1) were in the medium range. The present paper shows how to determine the economics of varying INM treatments. Cultivation of W. somnifera in India is gaining popularity among farmers;however, due to poor soil fertility, and costly chemical fertilizers and pesticides its production is not economical or profitable.

Targeting biosignatures of hyperglycemia and oxidative stress in diabetes comorbid depressive rats: effectiveness of hydroethanolic extract of the whole plant of Ludwigia octovalvis

Background:The prime objective of the current research was to evaluate the whole plant hydroalcoholic extract of Ludwigia octovalvis(HLO)against hyperglycemia,and oxidative stress biomarkers in rats induced with diabetes comorbid depression,diabetes comorbid depression(streptozotocin-nicotinamide+electric footshocks).Methods:2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay of HLO versus ascorbic acid was *** of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight/day HLO doses versus 25 mg/kg body weight/day metformin was studied through insulin,glucose,superoxide dismutase,lipid peroxidation,catalase,and behavioral assessment(forced swim and open field tests).Results:IC50 values of HLO and ascorbic acid were 33.52 and 27.86μg/mL *** the HLO doses showed intended results with respect to oxidative stress biomarkers in diabetes comorbid depression rats in comparison to *** field test showed better results for HLO in diabetes comorbid depression ***,hypoglycemic effects,and forced swim test performance of metformin was slightly higher than the 400 mg dose,followed by the 200 mg dose of *** gallate,gallic acid,β-sitosterol,and quercetin in HLO might resulted in attenuating diabetic as well as depression ***:Inhibition of glucosidase and lipase activity,and AMP-activated protein kinase phosphorylation might be the possible biochemical changes occurred in HLO treated rats.

Impact of COVID-19 on mortality trends and patterns in a tertiary care hospital of Central India:A retrospective study

Objective:To investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the mortality trends and patterns in a tertiary teaching hospital in Raipur,Chhattisgarh,***:A hospital-based retrospective study was conducted to analyze the case reports of all deaths from January 2016 to December 2021 in a tertiary teaching hospital in Raipur,Chhattisgarh,*** socio-demographic profile and the pattern of causes of death were *** deaths were classified according to the 10th revision of the International Classification of ***:A total of 6128 deaths were registered from 2016 to 2021 and the maximum death number was observed in 2021(38.2%)followed by 2020(32.5%)when the country was hit by the COVID-19 *** highest number of deaths was observed in the age group of 51 to 65 years i.e.,31.1%of the total *** all five years,male deaths were more than female deaths,and more than 50%occurred within three days of hospitalization during the study ***:Even though there is a rise in the death rate due to the sudden hit of COVID-19,the burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases remains gradually increasing over the five *** is a need for health awareness in the community about changing lifestyles and their harmful effects on health.

Combustion Characteristics of Animal Manures

A huge amount of waste from the cattle livestock and bird poultry are generated using as manure and solid fuel. In this work, the heat value and proximate parameters of livestock and poultry manures are described. The calorific value of manures (n = 22) was ranged from 2580 - 11,200 kcal/kg with mean value (p = 0.05) of 5333 ± 1073 kcal/kg. The effect of cattle age and additives i.e. NaNO3 and Na2WO4 in the heat value of the manures are discussed. The chemical characteristics of the emitted particulate matters (PM) and ash residues are highlighted.
