Inverse vulcanized polymers(IVPs) that generated from elemental sulfur and smaller amounts of alkenes have found broad promising applications such as cathode materials for Li-S batteries, dynamic and repairable materials, optics applications, and metal sorption. However, their exploration in organic synthesis is still unprecedented. Here we first report the application of inverse vulcanized polymers in catalysis for organic transformations. A biomass-derived inverse vulcanized polymer(IVP-EAE) is found to be capable of catalyzing cross-coupling reactions in a transition-metal-free fashion under visible *** method allows the direct C–H functionalization of pyrroles and N-arylacrylamides with(hetero)aryl halides, respectively, leading to the formation of two sets of structurally important scaffolds including pyrrole-containing biaryls and 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles with high selectivity. We anticipate this study will not only unveil the new potential of IVPs, but also offer a distinct type of catalysts for organic transformations.

In this paper,the structure evolution of cerium cobaltohexanoate(Ce[Co(CN)6],Ce-Co Prussian blue analog(PBA))has been realized by solvent catalysis at room *** hexagonal bipyramidal microcrystals of Ce-Co PBA can be gradually transformed into dendrites by different proportions of ethanol(EtOH)and *** the same time,the porous dendrites CeO_(2)/Co@carbon nanotub(CNT)with oxygen-rich vacancies(OVs)can be obtained by annealing Ce-Co PBA at 700℃.The microstructure study shows that carbon nanotubes will be catalyzed after annealing at high temperature,and the cobalt metal particles encapsulated in carbon nanotubes will be anchored in the matrix,regulating the impedance matching and multi-polarization suppression of the material,and its unique structure,vacancies,and strong interface effect make the material exhibit excellent electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption *** the matching thickness is 2.5 mm,the minimum reflection loss(RLmin)of the composite is-51.68 dB,and the effective absorption bandwidth(RL<-10 dB)is 7.76 *** results show that the prepared CeO_(2)/Co@CNT composite has excellent EMW absorption *** is expected to be a candidate material for EMW absorption.

Early growth response protein 1(Egr-1)triggers the transcription of many genes involved in cell growth,differentiation,synaptic plasticity,and ***,its mechanism in neuronal survival and degeneration is still poorly *** study demonstrated that Egr-1 was down-regulated at mRNA and protein levels in the central nervous system(CNS)of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(EAE)***-1 knockout exacerbated EAE progression in mice,as shown by increased disease severity and incidence;it also aggravated neuronal apoptosis,which was associated with weakened activation of the BDNF/TGFβ1/MAPK/Akt signaling pathways in the CNS of EAE ***,Egr-1 siRNA promoted apoptosis but mitigated the activation of BDNF/TGFβ1/MAPK/Akt signaling in SH-Sy5y *** results revealed that Egr-1 is a crucial regulator of neuronal survival in EAE by regulating TGFβ1-mediated signaling activation,implicating the important role of Egr-1 in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis as a potential novel therapy target.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many fatalities worldwide and continues to affect the health of the recovered patients in the form of *** this study,we compared the gut microbiome of uninfected infants and children before the pandemic began(BEFORE cohort,n=906)to that of after the pandemic(AFTER cohort,n=220)to examine the potential impact of social distancing and life habit changes on infant/children gut *** on 16S rRNA sequencing,we found a significant change in microbiome composition after the pandemic,with Bacteroides enterotype increasing to 35.45%from 30.46%before the *** quantification indicated that the bacterial loads of seven keystone taxa decreased by 91.69%–19.58%.Quantitative microbiome profiling,used to enhance the resolution in detecting microbiome differences,revealed a greater explained variance of pandemic on microbiome compared to gender,as well as a significant decrease in bacterial loads in 15 of the 20 major *** random forest age-predictor indicated the gut microbiomes were less mature in the after-pandemic cohort than in the before-pandemic cohort in the children group(3–12 years old)and had features of a significantly younger age(average of 1.86 years).Lastly,body weight and height were significantly lower in the after-pandemic cohort than in the before-pandemic cohort in infants(year of age),which was associated with a decrease in bacterial loads in the fecal microbiome.

Crystallineγ-Ga_(2)O_(3)@rGO core-shell nanostructures are synthesized in gram scale,which are accomplished by a facile sonochemical strategy under ambient *** are composed of uniformγ-Ga_(2)O_(3)nanospheres encapsulated by reduced graphene oxide(rGO)nanolayers,and their formation is mainly attributed to the existed opposite zeta potential between the Ga_(2)O_(3)and *** as-constructed lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)based on as-fabricatedγ-Ga_(2)O_(3)@rGO nanostructures deliver an initial discharge capacity of 1000 mAh g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1)and reversible capacity of 600 mAh g^(-1)under 500 mA g^(-1)after 1000 cycles,respectively,which are remarkably higher than those of pristineγ-Ga_(2)O_(3)with a much reduced lifetime of 100 cycles and much lower *** situ XRD and XPS analyses demonstrate that the reversible LIBs storage is dominant by a conversion reaction and alloying mechanism,where the discharged product of liquid metal Ga exhibits self-healing ability,thus preventing the destroy of ***,the rGO shell could act robustly as conductive network of the electrode for significantly improved conductivity,endowing the efficient Li storage *** work might provide some insight on mass production of advanced electrode materials under mild condition for energy storage and conversion applications.

In the field of bone defect repair,critical requirements for favorable cytocompatibility and optimal mechanical properties have propelled research efforts towards the development of composite *** this study,carbon nanotubes/polylactic acid/hydroxyapatite(CNTs/PLA/HA)scaffolds with different contents(0.5,1,1.5 and 2 wt.%)of CNTs were prepared by the thermally induced phase separation(TIPS)*** results revealed that the composite scaffolds had uniform pores with high porosities over 68%and high through *** addition of CNTs significantly enhanced the mechanical properties of resulted PLA/HA,in which the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA composite scaffold demonstrated the optimum mechanical behaviors with the bending elastic modulus of(868.5±12.34)MPa,the tensile elastic modulus of(209.51±12.73)MPa,and the tensile strength of(3.26±0.61)***,L929 cells on the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA scaffold displayed good spreading performance and favorable ***,it is expected that the 1.5 wt.%CNTs/PLA/HA scaffold has potential applications in bone tissue engineering.
