Effects of electrolyte balance on intestinal barrier, amino acid metabolism, and mTORC1 signaling pathway in piglets fed lowprotein diets

A proper dietary electrolyte balance(dEB) is essential to ensure optimal growth performance of piglets. In the low-protein diet, this balance may be affected by the reduction of soybean meal and the inclusion of high levels of synthetic amino acids. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the optimal dEB of low-protein diets and its impact on the growth performance of piglets. A total of 108 piglets(initial age of35 d) were randomly divided into 3 groups with 6 replicates of 6 pigs each as follows: low electrolyte diet(LE group; dEB = 150 milliequivalents [mEq]/kg); medium electrolyte diet(ME group; dEB = 250 m Eq/kg);high electrolyte diet(HE group; d EB = 350 mEq/kg). Results indicated that the LE and HE diet significantly decreased the average daily gain, average daily feed intake, and crude protein digestibility(P tural integrity of the piglets' intestines and decreased jejunal tight junction protein(occludin and claudin-1) expression(P y, the pH and HCO3 in the arterial blood of piglets in the LE group were lower than those in the ME and HE groups(P y, the LE diet significantly increased lysine content in piglet serum(P ycin complex 1(mTORC1) pathway by decreasing the phosphorylation abundance of key proteins. In summary, the dietary electrolyte imbalance could inhibit the activation of the mTORC1 signaling pathway,which might be a key factor in the influence of the dEB on piglet growth performance and intestinal ***, second-order polynomial(quadratic) regression analysis showed that the optimal dEB of piglets in the low-protein diet was 250 to 265 mEq/kg.

One-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation is presented for the interaction of ultrashort,linearly polarized intense laser pulses with thin foil *** results indicate that the strong competition between electromagnetic and electrostatic ponderomotive forces produced,respectively,by the laser and the electrostatic fields leads to novel behaviours of *** shows that the interaction is dominated by the 2ω(ωis laser frequency)component of the electrostatic ponderomotive force as well as that of the electromagnetic ponderomotive force.

Investigation on Skidding of Rolling Element Bearing in Loaded Zone

Skidding which occurs when rolling element entering into the loaded zone is prone to cause wear and incipient failure to the raceways and rolling elements. This paper presents a dynamic model to investigate the skidding of a rolling element bearing under radial load when the rolling element is entering into the load zone. In this dynamic model, the effects of the contact forces, friction forces on the rolling element-race and rolling element-cage interfaces, gravity, and the centrifugal forces of rolling elements are taken into consideration. The Hertzian contact theory is applied to calculate the non-linear contact forces. The Coulomb friction law is used to calculate the friction forces. The differential equations of rotational motion of the rolling element with regard to its central axis and the central axis of the outer ring are established respectively. The dynamic equations are then solved by using a fourth-order Runge-Kutta algorithm. The skidding characteristics of rolling element at the entry into the loaded zone are exposed, and the effects of the operating parameters on skidding behavior are carefully investigated.

First-principles calculations of K-shell x-ray absorption spectra for warm dense ammonia

The x-ray absorption spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the detection of thermodynamic conditions and atomic structures on warm dense ***,we perform first-principles molecular dynamics and x-ray absorption spectrum calculations for warm dense ammonia,which is one of the major constituents of Uranus and *** nitrogen K-shell x-ray absorption spectrum(XAS)is determined along the Hugoniot curve,and it is found that the XAS is a good indicator of the prevailing thermodynamic *** atomic structures at these conditions are *** indicate that the ammonia could dissociate to NH_(x)(x=0,1,or 2)fragments and form nitrogen clusters,and the ratios of these products change with varying *** contributions to the XAS from these products show quite different characteristics,inducing the significant change of XAS along the Hugoniot *** model simulations imply that the distribution of the peak position of atomic XAS is the dominant factor affecting the total XAS.

Effect of thermal annealing on the microstructure, mechanical properties and residual stress relaxation of pure titanium after deep rolling treatment

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of thermal annealing on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and residual stress relaxation of deep rolled pure titanium. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the surface modified layer were analyzed by metallographic microscopy, transmission electron microscope and in-situ tensile testing. The results showed that the annealed near-surface layer with fine recrystallized grains had increased ductility but decreased strength after annealing below the recrystallization temperature, where the tensile strength was still higher than that of the substrate. After annealing at the recrystallization temperature, the recrystallized near-surface layer had smaller grain size,similar tensile strength, and higher proportional limit, comparable to those of the substrate. Moreover, the residual stress relaxation showed evidently different mechanisms at three different temperature regions:low temperature(T≤ 0.2 Tm), medium temperature(T≈(0.2–0.3) Tm), and high temperature(T≥ 0.3 Tm).Furthermore, a prediction model was proposed in terms of modification of Zener-Wert-Avrami model,which showed promise in characterizing the residual stress relaxation in commercial pure Ti during deep rolling at elevated temperature.

Simulation of Precipitation in Monsoon Regions of China by CMIP3 Models

The output of 25 models used in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 3 (CMIP3) were evaluated,with a focus on summer precipitation in eastern China for the last 40 years of the 20th *** mod-els failed to reproduce rainfall associated with the East Asian summer monsoon (EASM),and hence the seasonal cycle in eastern China,but provided reasonable results in Southwest (SW) and Northeast China (NE).The simula-tions produced reasonable results for the yangtze-Huai (yH) Basin area,although the Meiyu phenomenon was underestimated in *** typical regional phe-nomenon,a seasonal northward shift in the rain belt from early to late summer,was completely missed by most *** long-term climate trends in rainfall over eastern China were largely underestimated,and the ob-served geographical pattern of rainfall changes was not reproduced by most *** extremes were evaluated via parameters of fitted GEV (Generalized Ex-treme Values) *** annual extremes were grossly underestimated in the monsoon-dominated yH and SW regions,but reasonable values were calculated for the North China (NC) and NE *** results suggest a general failure to capture the dynamics of the EASM in current coupled climate ***,models with higher resolution tend to reproduce larger decadal trends and annual extremes of precipitation in the regions studied.

Crystal data for 1： orthorhombic, space group Pbca with a = 11.921（4）, b = 15.816（6）, c = 17.076（6） A, V= 3219.7（19） A^3, C15H17CuN3O5S, Z = 8, Mr = 414.92, De = 1.712 g/cm^3,μ（MoKα） = 1.520 mm^-1, F（000） = 1704, the final R = 0.0300 and wR = 0.0705 for 2840 observed reflections with I 〉 2σ（I）; and crystal data for 2： monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 7.929（3）, b = 17.038（5）, c = 11.734（4） A, β = 98.162（6）°, V = 1569.1（9） A^3, C15H16CuN2O5S, Z = 4, Mr = 399.90, Dc = 1.693 g/cm^3, F（000） = 820,μ（MoKα） = 1.554 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0351 and wR = 0.0848 for 2767 observed reflections （I 〉 2σ（I））. The molecular structure of complex 1 consists of one tetra-coordinated Cu（Ⅱ） atom generating a slightly distorted square plane, and a one-dimensional chain structure is formed by intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Complex 2 consists of a diphenolic hydroxyl O-bridged binuclear copper（Ⅱ） structure. The crystal structures of complexes 1 and 2 reveal that the coordinate copper centers are bound to both nitrogen and oxygen atom donors. The usual N,O-trans arrangement of ligands is observed in both cases.

Magnetically controlled shape memory alloy（MSMA） which has fast response, high energy density and other excellent characteristics, have a broad application prospects as a potential intelligent sensor materials. However, the unclear correlation between the environment temperature and the sensing characteristics limits the application of MSMA in the sensor field. According to the sensing characteristics of MSMA, through the real-time control of current and temperature in the experimental system, the experimental data such as compressive strains, stress and magnetic induction change of magnetic circuit in the bias magnetic field were recorded. Then, the optimum ambient temperature for the sensing characteristics of MSMA was proposed. The results show that the stress applied to the MSMA material can have a great influence on the magnetic induction intensity in the magnetic circuit at the op timum ambient temperature of 31℃. While the sensitivity of the sensing properties of MSMA depends on the magnitude of the change in the magnetic induction. Therefore, MSMA exhibits a high sensitivity at the optimum ambient temperature of 31℃.
