This paper deals with the application of Acousto-ultrasonics,in con- junction with Pattern Recognition and Classification techniques,to the identification of residual impact properties of a class of polymeric material,namely,Polyvinylchlo- ride(PVC).PVC specimens of different low-energy repeated impact damage states are processed by Acousto-ultrasonics(AU)to retrieve AU signals in the form of dig- italized *** AU signals are grouped as distinct classes,each pertaining to a known level of repeated impact *** features of these AU signals are used to build Pattern Recognition(PR)*** classifiers are used to identify unknown damage states in other PVC specimens by classifying the re- trieved AU signals as belonging to one of the *** obtained results indicate that Acousto-ultrasonics in combination with Pattern Recognition and Classification techniques can be used for the quantitative non-destructive identification of damage states in PVC specimens of unknown low-energy repeated impact conditions.

Advanced oxidation technologies are a friendly environmental approach for the remediation of industrial wastewaters. Here, one pot synthesis of mesoporous WO3 and WO3-graphene oxide（GO） nanocomposites has been performed through the sol–gel method. Then, platinum（Pt） nanoparticles were deposited onto the WO3 and WO3-GO nanocomposite through photochemical reduction to produce mesoporous Pt/WO3 and Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites. X-ray diffraction（XRD） findings exhibit a formation of monoclinic and triclinic WO3 phases. Transmission Electron microscope（TEm） images of Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites exhibited that WO3 nanoparticles are obviously agglomerated and the particle sizes of Pt and WO3 are ~ 10 nm and 20–50 nm, respectively. The mesoporous Pt/WO3 and Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites were assessed for photocatalytic degradation of methylene Blue（mB） as a probe molecule under visible light *** findings showed that mesoporous Pt/WO3, WO3-GO and Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites exhibited much higher photocatalytic efficiencies than the pure WO3. The photodegradation rates by mesoporous Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites are 3, 2 and 1.15 times greater than those by mesoporous WO3, WO3-GO, and Pt/WO3, respectively. The key factors of the enhanced photocatalytic performance of Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites could be explained by the highly freedom electron transfer through the synergetic effect between WO3 and GO sheets, in addition to the Pt nanoparticles that act as active sites for O2 reduction, which suppresses the electron hole pair recombination in the Pt/WO3-GO nanocomposites.

In the modeling of microsegregation, the partition coefficient is usually calculated using data from the equilibrium phase diagrams. The aim of this study was to experimentally and theoretically analyze the partition coefficient in binary aluminum--copper alloys. The sam- ples were analyzed by differential thermal analysis （DTA）, which were melted and quenched from different temperatures during solidifica- tion. The mass fraction and composition of phases were measured by image processing and scanning electron microscopy （SEm） equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS） unit. These data were used to calculate as the experimental partition coefficients with four different methods. The experimental and equilibrium partition coefficients were used to model the concentration profile in the primary phase. The modeling results show that the profiles calculated by the experimental partition coefficients are more consistent with the experi- mental profiles, compared to those calculated using the equilibrium partition coefficients.

A Dvali–Gabadadze–Porrati(DGP)brane-world model with perfect fluid brane matter including a Brans-Dicke(BD)scalar field on brane was utilized to investigate the problem of the quark-hadron phase(QHP)transition in early evolution of the *** presence of the BD scalar field arises with several modified terms in the Friedmann *** the behavior of the phase transition strongly depends on the basic evolution equations,even a small change in these relations might lead to interesting results about the time of *** phase transition is investigated in two scenarios,namely the first-order phase transition and smooth crossover phase *** the first-order scenario,which is used for the intermediate temperature regime,the evolution of the physical quantities,such as temperature and scale factor,are investigated before,during,and after the phase *** results show that the transition occurs in about a *** the following part,the phenomenon is studied by assuming a smooth crossover transition,where the lattice QCD data is utilized to obtain a realistic equation for the state of the *** investigation for this part is performed in the high and low-temperature *** the trace anomaly in the high-temperature regime specifies a simple equation of state,which states that the quark-gluon behaves like ***,in the low-temperature regime,the trace anomaly is affected by discretization effects,and the hadron resonance gas model is utilized *** this model,a more realistic equation of state is found in the low-temperature *** crossover phase transition in both regimes is *** results determine that the transition lasts around a few ***,the transition in the low-temperature regime occurs after the transition in the high-temperature regime.

Background Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy(EUS-FNB)is increasingly utilized to enhance the cytological yield of sampling solid lesions,but its superiority over existing fine-needle aspiration(FNA)platforms has not been clearly *** aim of our study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy and procedural outcomes of FNB using a new Franseen-tip needle to that of a traditional FNA in sampling solid lesions under EUS *** Consecutive patients with solid lesions referred for EUS-FNB sampling were ***-related outcomes were collected prospectively including patient demographics,number of passes performed,diagnostic sample adequacy,adverse events,and recovery *** Acquire needle was used to sample all lesions in the study *** EUSFNA procedures performed to sample solid lesions using the Expect needle were utilized as *** There were 180 patients undergoing EUS-FNB compared to 183 patients undergoing EUS-FNA procedures for solidlesion *** procedure time was significantly shorter in patients who underwent FNB compared to FNA(mean:37.4 vs 44.9 minutes,Py fewer passes were performed in the FNB cohort compared to the FNA group(mean:2.9 vs 3.8,Pytologic diagnostic yield was significantly higher in the FNB group compared to the FNA group(98.3%vs 90.2%,P=0.003).No significant difference in the incidence of adverse events was observed between the FNB and FNA groups(1.1%vs 0.5%,P=0.564).Conclusions An FNB-exclusive approach to sampling solid lesions under EUS guidance is safe and feasible,and may result in fewer overall passes,shorter procedure time,and improved diagnostic *** may replace FNA as the primary sampling modality of choice in all solid lesions.

Cells have evolved DNA damage response （DDR） to repair DNA lesions and thus preserving genomic stability and impeding carcinogenesis. DNA damage induction is accompanied by transient transcription repression. Here, we describe a previously unrecognized role of chromodomain y-like （CDyL1） protein in fortifying double-strand break （DSB）-induced transcription repression and repair. We showed that CDyL1 is rapidly recruited to damaged euchromatic regions in a poly （ADP-ribose） polymerase 1 （PARP1）-dependent, but ataxia telangiectasia mutated （ATm）-independent, manner. While the C-terminal region, containing the enoyl-CoA hydratase like （ECH） domain, of CDyL1 binds to poly （ADP-ribose）（PAR） moieties and mediates CDyL1 accumulation at DNA damage sites, the chromodomain and histone H3 trimethylated on lysine 9 （H3K9me3） mark are dispensable for its recruitment. Furthermore, CDyL1 promotes the recruitment of enhancer of zeste homolog 2 （EZH2）, stimulates local increase of the repressive methyl mark H3K27me3, and promotes transcription silencing at DSB sites. In addition, following DNA damage induction, CDyL1 depletion causes persistent G2/m arrest and alters H2AX and replication protein A （RPA2） phosphorylation. Remarkably, the ‘traffic-light reporter’ system revealed that CDyL1 mainly promotes homology-directed repair （HDR） of DSBs in vivo. Consequently, CDyL1-knockout cells display synthetic lethality with the chemotherapeutic agent, cisplatin. Altogether, our findings identify CDyL1 as a new component of the DDR and suggest that the HDR-defective ‘BRCAness’ phenotype of CDyL1-deficient cells could be exploited for eradicating cancer cells harboring CDyL1 mutations.

Effect of Stewing in Cooking Step on Textural and morphological Properties of Cooked Rice

Stewing of rice grains by steam after boiling in excess water can be used for cooking rice perfectly. The effects of this procedure in cooking of three varieties of Iranian rice （Sang Tarom, Domsiyah and Fair） on textural and morphological properties of cooked rice grains were investigated. The results showed that this step in rice cooking reduced the hardness and increased the adhesiveness of rice grains significantly. By the use of the scanning electron microscopy, it was shown that the outer surface of cooked rice stewed by steam had less porosity and closer pores due to the modification during cooking, and better gelatinization and more expansion of starch granules compared to non-stewed samples. The use of this procedure in rice cooking to provide a fully cooked and gelatinized, softer and stickier final product is recommended.
