Behavior and outcomes of 141 acquired lacrimal sac mucoceles treated via endoscopic dacry.cy.torhinostomy

AIM:To investigate the clinical profile of patients with acquired lacrimal sac mucocele(ALSM)and evaluate the efficacy.of endoscopic dacry.cy.torhinostomy.En-DCR)for this ***:En-DCRs were performed on 141 patients with ALSM patients from January.2016 to March *** clinical baseline information and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)images were recorded and *** assess the effectiveness of En-DCR therapy.both anatomical and functional success rate was assessed during a 12mo ***:A total of 141 patients,with a mean age of 57.70±14.11y.were enrolled in this *** of the patients were female(n=91;64.54%)and all had unilateral *** patients had a previous history.of epiphora and purulent secretion,and the duration from lacrimal duct obstruction to mucocele formation ranged from 6 to *** findings consistently.revealed an enlarged sac diameter,fluid accumulation separated by.a thin rim from adjacent tissues,which is indicative of lacrimal sac ***-DCR was performed with an anatomical success rate of 93.62%and a functional success rate of 81.56%.CONCLUSION:ALSM is more commonly.seen in females and *** is essentially.a complication of lacrimal duct *** characteristics can be used for precise clinical diagnosis,while En-DCR emerges as an optimal therapy.for this *** results provide a comprehensive reference for the diagnosis and treatment of ALSM.

On a general theory.for compressing process and aeroacoustics:linear analy.is

Of the three mutually.coupled fundamental processes （shearing, compressing, and thermal） in a general fluid motion, only.the general formulation for the compress- ing process and a subprocess of it, the subject of aeroacous- tics, as well as their phy.ical coupling with shearing and thermal processes, have so far not reached a consensus. This situation has caused difficulties for various in-depth complex multiprocess flow diagnosis, optimal configuration design, and flow/noise control. As the first step toward the desired formulation in fully.nonlinear regime, this paper employ. the operator factorization method to revisit the analy.ic linear theories of the fundamental processes and their decomposi- tion, especially.the further splitting of compressing process into acoustic and entropy.modes, developed in 1940s-1980s. The flow treated here is small disturbances of a compressible, viscous, and heat-conducting poly.ropic gas in an unbounded domain with arbitrary.source of mass, external body.force, and heat addition. Previous results are thereby.revised and extended to a complete and unified theory. The theory.pro- vides a necessary.basis and valuable guidance for developing corresponding nonlinear theory.by.clarify.ng certain basic issues, such as the proper choice of characteristic variables of compressing process and the feature of their governing equations.

AIM To determine whether incorporation of the pH dependent bacterial toxin listerioly.in O (LLO) into the DNA carrier sy.tem could increase the endosomal escape of internalized DNA and result gene expression. METHODS A multi component delivery.sy.tem was prepared consisting of asialogly.oprotein (ASG), poly.L ly.ine (PL), and LLO. Two marker genes, luciferase and β galactosidase in plasmids were complexed and administered in vitro to Huh7[ASG receptor (+) ] and Sk Hep1[ASG receptor (-) ] cells. Purity. hemoly.ic activity. gene expression, specificity. and toxicity.were evaluated. RESULTS An LLO containing conjugate retained cell targeting specificity.and membranoly.ic activity. In ASG receptor (+) cells, luciferase gene expression was enhanced by.more than 7 fold over that of conjugates without the incorporation of listerioly.in O. No significant expression occurred in ASG receptor (-) cells. Enhancement of β galactosidase gene expression was less, but still significantly.increased over controls. There was no detectable toxicity.at concentrations shown to be effective in transfection studies. CONCLUSIONS ASOR PL can be coupled to LLO using disulfide bonds, and successfully.target and increase the gene expression of foreign DNA.

Py.idy.-based ketones and 1,6-diketones are both attractive and invaluable scaffolds which play.pivotal roles in the construction and structural modification of a plethora of sy.thetically.paramount natural products, pharmaceuticals, organic materials and fine chemicals. In this context, we herein demonstrate an unprecedented, robust and generally.applicable sy.thetically.strategy.to deliver these two crucial ketone frameworks via visible-light-induced ring-opening coupling reactions of cy.loalcohols with viny.azaarenes and enones, respectively. A plausible mechanism involves the selective β-C-C bond cleavage of cy.loalcohols enabled by.proton-coupled electron transfer and ensuing Giese-ty.e addition followed by.single electron reduction and protonation. The sy.thetic methodology.exhibits broad substrate scope,excellent functional group compatibility.as well as operational simplicity.and environmental friendliness.

Design and optimization of a longitudinal feedback kicker cavity.for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring

In the Hefei Light Source （HLS） storage ring, multibunch operation is used to obtain a high luminosity. Multibunch instabilities can severely.limit light source performance with a variety.of negative impacts, including beam loss, low injection efficiency. and overall degradation of the beam quality. Instabilities of a multibunch beam can be mitigated using certain techniques including increasing natural damping （operating at a higher energy., lowering the beam current, and increasing Landau damping. However, these methods are not adequate to stabilize a multibunch electron beam at a low energy.and with a high current. In order to combat beam instabilities in the HLS storage ring, active feedback sy.tems including a longitudinal feedback sy.tem （LFB） and a transverse feedback sy.tem （TFB） will be developed as part of the HLS upgrade project, the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring project. As a key.component of the longitudinal bunch-by.bunch feedback sy.tem, an LFB kicker cavity.with a wide bandwidth and high shunt impedance is required. In this paper we report our work on the design of the LFB kicker cavity.for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring and present the new tuning and optimization techniques developed in designing this high performance LFB kicker.
