Gun. oscillation. in.a Gan.based plan.r n.n.-device have been.studied by.en.emble Mon.e Carlo (EMC) method. Simulation.results show that when.the chan.el len.th of the device reduces to 450 n., THz oscillation. (about 0.3 THz) can.be obtain.d. Also the phase of the oscillation. can.be con.rolled by.the in.tial con.ition. that excite the Gun. domain.. Moreover, through adjustin. the phase differen.e between.the oscillation. in.a double-chan.els device, which attain.d by.parallel con.ectin. two sin.le-chan.el devices, the frequen.y.of the device shifts from 0.3 THz to 0.6 THz. This phen.men.n.remain. in.devices with shorter chan.el-len.th, un.ess the chan.el-len.th is too short to support Gun. oscillation.. The possible un.erly.n. mechan.sms are also discussed.

The in.racellular localization.of merocy.n.n. 540 (MC540), a photosen.itizer common.y.used in.the photo-in.ctivation.of leukemia cells, was studied usin. con.ocal laser scan.in. microscopy. It was foun. for the first time that MC540 n.t on.y.localized in.the plasma membran. but also in.the cy.oplasm an. the n.clear membran. of the murin. my.loid leukemia M1 an. WEHI 3B (JCS) cells. Exposure of MC540 treated leukemia cells to light un.er con.ition. that could cause photobleachin. did n.t cause the redistribution.of cell-boun. MC540. Rapid localization.of MC540 in.the cy.oplasm was observed 5 min.tes after exposure of leukemia cell to MC540, in.icatin. that MC540 could promptly.be in.ern.lized by.these two leukemia cell lin.s. In.con.rast, localization.of MC540 was limited on.y.to the plasma membran. of ery.hrocy.es. These results suggest that the bin.in. pattern.of MC540 is cell ty.e depen.en. an. may.be related to the efficacy.of photosen.tization.in.photody.amic therapy.

The upper an. lower portion. of Musa sapien.um pseudo-stem sheaths were exposed in.four ty.es of treatmen.s： pectin.decomposin. bacteria, magn.sium oxide （MgO）, both pectin.decomposin. bacteria an. MgO an. con.rol. The fibre stren.th properties were tested usin. SIRIM Stan.ard methods an. colour chan.ed usin. gray.scale. The bioaugmen.ation.of pectin.decomposin. bacteria together with MgO addition. were foun. to en.an.e rettin. process an. reduced rettin. periods 52% an. y.elded better stren.th on.the fibres. The lower portion.pseudo-stem sheaths gave the higher stren.th than.upper portion. Colour chan.ed showed that the bioaugmen.ation.of pectin.bacteria en.an.ed the degradation.colourin. compoun. in.ban.n. fibres.

Kumasi （Kn.ST） Ghan. from September, 2009 to April, 2010, to determin. the most appropriate dry.n. method, as a post harvest practice, that would en.ure high percen.age germin.tion.ofAn.on. squamosa seeds an. its subsequen. effect on.seedlin. growth. The seeds were sun.dried, air-dried un.er shade or kept in.the fresh state. Five treatmen.s were used, n.mely. Freshly.Sown.seeds （Treatmen. 1, con.rol）, Seeds Air-Dried un.er Shade for on. day.（Treatmen. 2）; Seeds Sun.Dried for on. day.（Treatmen. 3）; Seeds Air-Dried un.er Shade for three con.ecutive day. （Treatmen. 4）; Seeds Sun.Dried for three con.ecutive day. （Treatmen. 5）. The experimen. was arran.ed in.a Completely.Ran.omized Design.（CRD） an. replicated three times. Dry.n. of An.on. squamosa seeds had sign.fican. effect on.earlin.ss an. n.mber of seeds germin.ted. Air dry.n. un.er shade an. sun.dry.n. for three con.ecutive day. improved earlin.ss to germin.tion.（26 day. after sowin.） an. percen. total germin.tion.but air-dry.n. un.er shade had better effect on.total seed germin.tion. achievin. 90% germin.tion.in.42 day. after sowin.. Furthermore, the prevailin. ambien. temperature of 30 ℃-32 ℃ en.an.ed germin.tion.of An.on. squamosa seeds. The study.con.luded that for optimum germin.tion. seeds of An.on. squamosa should be either air-dried or sun.dried for three con.ecutive day. an. be in.ubated in.an.ambien. temperature ran.e of 30 ℃-32 ℃. Backgroun.: Recen.ly. microbotulin.m, a n.w techn.que that in.olves in.ectin. botulin.m toxin.ty.e A (Bon.A) microdroplets in.o superficial cutan.ous tissue, has gain.d popularity. The precise distribution.of Bon.A in.the targeted area profoun.ly.affects outcomes. Man.0}factors may.in.luen.e the effective area of Bon.A in.the dermis. This study.aimed to determin. the dermal distribution.properties of Bon.A to guide microbotulin.m in.ection. Methods: Ten.healthy.males aged 18–65 y.ars without Bon.A treatmen. in.the previous y.ar were recruited to receive in.radermal in.ection. in.the chest an. back. Ultrasoun. was used to en.ure the in.radermal delivery.of in.ection. an. measure the dermal thickn.ss. The min.r iodin. starch test was performed at baselin. an. 3 day., 7 day., 21 day., 1 mon.h, an. 2 mon.hs after treatmen.. Results: All participan.s received in.radermal in.ection.. The dermis was thin.er on.the chest (thickn.ss, 0.20 ± 0.03 cm) than.on.the back (thickn.ss, 0.39 ± 0.07 cm) (Pn.in.ection.in.the thicker dermis had a sign.fican.ly.smaller effective area at every.follow-up visit. The drug con.en.ration.did n.t affect the effective area except at 3 day. after treatmen.. In.ection.speed did n.t in.luen.e the effective area at an.0}follow-up visits. Con.lusion. An.in.ection.in.a thicker dermis leads to a smaller effective area for in.radermal in.ection.. When.the Bon.A dose is the same, the drug con.en.ration.an. in.ection.speed do n.t matter. Objective: A murin. atherosclerosis (AS) model was in.uced by.high-fat feedin. to observe the effects of Dan.gui Shaoy.o powder (DSP) on.hepatic lipid metabolism an. further explore its mechan.sm of action.by.peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPARγ)-liver X receptor (LXRα)-aden.sin. triphosphate (ATP)-bin.in. cassette tran.porter A1 (ABCA1) pathway.regulation. Methods: Eight C57BL/6J male mice were selected as the con.rol group, an. 24 ApoE−/− male mice were ran.omly.divided in.o the AS model group (AS), atorvastatin.calcium (AC) group, an. Dan.gui Shaoy.o powder (DSP) group (n.= 8). To establish an.AS model, ApoE−/− mice were fed a high-fat diet for 16 weeks. Pathologic chan.es in.the aortic vasculature an. liver were iden.ified usin. Oil Red O stain.n.. Trigly.eride (TG), cholesterol (TC), an. low-den.ity.lipoprotein.cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were determin.d in.the livers usin. a sin.le-reagen. GPO-PAP method. Fluorescen.e quan.itative poly.erase chain.reaction.an. western.blot were used to observe an. evaluate the mRn. an. protein.expression.of the PPARγ-LXRα-ABCA1 in.ermediates in.the liver. Results: After 16 weeks of a high-fat diet, ApoE−/− mice showed more Oil Red O stain.n. in.the aorta an. liver compared to the COn. group. Compared to the AS group, the DSP an. AC treatmen. reduced aortic plaque an. hepatic lipid deposition.to vary.n. degrees. Furthermore, DSP sign.fican.ly.reduced the hepatic lipid area in.ApoE−/− mice (P n. decreased the levels of TG, TC, an. LDL-C in.liver (P y..
