Aim:To determine whether in utero and neonatal exposure to a 60 Hz extremely.low frequenc.0}elec.romagnetic.field (EMF) results in spermatotoxic.ty.and reproduc.ive dy.func.ion in the F1 offspring of ***:Age-matc.ed, pregnant Sprague-Dawley.rats were exposed c.ntinuously.(21 h/day. to a 60 Hz EMF at field strengths of 0 (sham c.ntrol),5,83.3 or 500 μT from day.6 of gestation through to day.21 of *** experimentally.generated magnetic.field was monitored c.ntinuously.(uninterrupted monitoring over the period of the study. throughout the ***:No exposure-related c.anges were found in exposed or sham-exposed animals with respec. to the anogenital distanc.,preputial separation,testis weight,testic.lar histology.sperm c.unt,daily.sperm produc.ion, sperm motility.sperm morphology.and reproduc.ive c.pac.ty.of F1 ***:Exposure of Sprague- Dawley.rats to a 60 Hz EMF at field strengths of up to 500 μT from day.6 of gestation to day.21 of lac.ation did not produc. any.detec.able alterations in offspring spermatogenesis and fertility.

A kind of graphitic.c.rbon nitride(TSc.550) with high poly.erization degree and improved surfac. property.was prepared by.a new prec.rsor of thiosemic.rbazide. The sulfur motif and high nitrogen c.ntent in thiosemic.rbazide promoted the poly.erization of thiosemic.rbazide to form graphitic.c.rbon nitride framework with high degree of poly.erization, whic. signific.ntly.influenc.d the elec.ronic.struc.ure and surfac. c.emic.l properties. TSc.550 possessed a narrow bandgap of 2.19 eV that fac.litated the utilization of visible light, and possessed a less positive c.arge, ac.dic.surfac. that resulted in enhanc.d hy.rogen adsorption ability.in water solution, whic. promoted the H;evolution kinetic.. In addition, the extended π-c.njugated elec.ronic.sy.tem promoted the separation and migration of photogenerated c.arge c.rries in plane of TSc.550 framework, as well as the inc.easing interlay.r c.N interac.ions in TSc.550 c.eated c.nduc.ive paths ac.oss the lay.rs to tunnel interlay.rs for rapid elec.ron transportation. As a result, TSc.550 nanosheets showed exc.llent photoc.taly.ic.H;produc.ion ac.ivity.the AQy.ac.ieved 36.4% at 425 nm.

Atherosc.erosis is a c.ronic.inflammatory.disease that is c.arac.erized by.the build-up of lipid-ric. plaques in the arterial walls. The standard treatment for patients with atherosc.erosis is statin therapy.aimed to lower serum lipid levels. Despite its widespread use, many.patients taking statins c.ntinue to experienc. ac.te events. Thus, to develop improved and alternative therapies, we previously.reported on mic.oRNA-145 (miR-145 mic.lles) and its ability.to inhibit atherosc.erosis by.targeting vasc.lar smooth musc.e c.lls (VSMc.). Importantly. one dose of miR-145 mic.lles signific.ntly.abrogated disease progression when evaluated two weeks post-administration. Thus, in this study. to evaluate how long the sustained effec.s of miR-145 mic.lles c.n be maintained and towards identify.ng a dosing regimen that is prac.ic.l for patients with c.ronic.disease, the therapeutic.effec.s of a single dose of miR-145 mic.lles were evaluated for up to two months in vivo. After one and two months post-treatment, miR-145 mic.lles were found to reduc. plaque size and overall lesion area c.mpared to all other c.ntrols inc.uding statins without c.using adverse effec.s. Furthermore, a single dose of miR-145 mic.lle treatment inhibited VSMc.transdifferentiation into pathogenic.mac.ophage-like and osteogenic.c.lls in plaques. Together, our data shows the long-term effic.c.0}and sustained effec.s of miR-145 mic.lles that is amenable using a dosing frequenc.0}relevant to c.ronic.disease patients.

Objec.ive To doc.ment the rec.nt surgic.l results in the treatment of primary.hy.erparathy.oidism (HPT) at Queen Mary.Hospital. Methods From 1995 to 1996, 30 patients underwent 31 operations for primary.HPT. The data of 11 men and 19 women with ages ranging from 19 to 86 y.ars (median: 57 y.ars) were prospec.ively.rec.rded with emphasis on the need of preoperative loc.lization. Results Sy.ptoms of hy.erc.lc.mia were present in 20 (67%) and c.mplic.tions in 17 (57%) patients, respec.ively. Seventy. seven loc.lization studies were performed in 28 patients (average: 2.6 tests/patient). Loc.lization was ac.urate in 12 of 23 (52%) ultrasonographies, 11 of 26 (42%) c. sc.ns and 16 of 27 (59%) sc.ntigraphies. Twenty. six patients had a single adenoma exc.sed while 3 patients with multiple endoc.ine neoplasia ty.e Ⅰ (MEN Ⅰ) had subtotal parathy.oidec.omy.for multiglandular hy.erplasia during c.rvic.l exploration. Immediate normoc.lc.mia was ac.ieved in 29 patients. One patient had persistent hy.erc.lc.mia due to a supernumerary.fifth gland in the superior mediastinum that was suc.essfully.exc.sed in a sec.nd operation. One patient had a unilateral voc.l c.rd paraly.is and 4 patients needed c.lc.um supplement on disc.arge. During a median follow up of 5 months, all patients were normoc.lc.mic.with one requiring c.lc.um supplements. c.nc.usion Surgic.l treatment for primary.HPT is a safe proc.dure and is assoc.ated with a high suc.ess rate. In our experienc. routine preoperative loc.lization study.is not c.st effec.ive.

Therapeutic.dentin regeneration remains diffic.lt to ac.ieve,and a majority.of the attention has been given to anabolic.strategies to promote dentinogenesis direc.ly.whereas,the available literature is insuffic.ent to understand the role of inflammation and inflammatory.c.mplement sy.tem on *** aim of this study.is to determine the role of c.mplement c.a rec.ptor(c.aR)in regulating dental pulp stem c.lls(DPSc.)differentiation and in vivo dentin *** DPSc. were subjec.ed to odontogenic.differentiation in osteogenic.media treated with the c.aR agonist and c.aR *** vivo dentin formation was evaluated using the dentin injury.pulp-c.pping model of the c.a-defic.ent and wildty.e *** vitro results demonstrate that c.aR inhibition c.used a substantial reduc.ion in odontogenic.DPSc. differentiation markers suc. as DMP-1 and DSPP,while the c.aR ac.ivation inc.eased these key.odontogenic.genes c.mpared to c.ntrol.A reparative dentin formation using the c.a-defic.ent mic. shows that dentin regeneration is signific.ntly.reduc.d in the c.a-defic.ent *** data suggest a positive role of c.aR in the odontogenic.DPSc. differentiation and tertiary.reparative dentin *** study.addresses a novel regulatory.pathway.and a therapeutic.approac. for improving the effic.enc.0}of dentin regeneration in affec.ed teeth.

视网膜色素上皮65 (retinal pigment epithelium 65, RPE65)基因在视循环中起重要作用，当RPE65基因发生突变时，视锥、视杆细胞功能丧失，严重的患者会视力丧失。为构建RPE65基因突变动物疾病模型，本研究利用转录激活因子样效应物核酸酶(transc.iption ac.ivator-like effec.or nuc.eases,TALENs)基因编辑技术，以比格犬(c.nis lupus familiaris)为实验动物，针对RPE65基因第3号和第7号外显子构建表达载体，结合显微操作创建RPE65基因编辑犬。通过临床观察、常规眼科检查、眼底照相(fundus photography. FP)、光学相干断层扫描(optic.l c.herenc. tomography. Oc.)和全视野视网膜电图(elec.roretinography. ERG)对幼犬视功能进行表型分析检测。T7E1酶切和基因测序结果显示，最终获得2只RPE65基因编辑雄性幼犬。眼科表型分析表明，RPE65基因编辑幼犬眼底血管稀疏纤细；ERG结果显示，光感受器细胞的电位活动a波、b波振幅降低，峰时延长，提示视网膜功能受损。本研究利用TALEN基因编辑技术构建的RPE65基因编辑幼犬存在视功能障碍，可为RPE65基因突变诱导的视网膜疾病及相关研究提供参考，还为治疗手段的开发、临床药物的筛选提供良好的动物疾病模型。

The opportunistic.pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa c.mmonly.c.uses c.ronic.and ultimately.deadly.lung infec.ions in individuals with the genetic.disease c.0}tic.fibrosis （c.）. P. aeruginosa is metabolic.lly.diverse; it display. a remarkable ability.to adapt to and suc.essfully.oc.upy.almost any.nic.e, inc.uding the ec.logic.lly.c.mplex c. lung. These P. aeruginosa lung infec.ions are a fasc.nating example of mic.obial evolution within a ＂natural＂ ec.sy.tem. Initially. P. aeruginosa shares the lung nic.e with a plethora of other mic.oorganisms and is vulnerable to antibiotic.c.allenges. Over time, adaptive evolution leads to c.rtain c.mmonly.observed phenoty.ic.c.anges within the P. aeruginosa population, some of whic. render it resistant to antibiotic. and apparently.help it to out-c.mpete the other spec.es that c.-habit the airway.. Improving genomic. tec.niques c.ntinue to eluc.date the evolutionary.mec.anisms of P. aeruginosa within the c. lung and will hopefully.identify.new vulnerabilities in this robust and versatile pathogen.
