Decreased levels of phosphorylated synuclein in plasma are correlated with poststroke cognitive impairment

Poststro ke cognitive impairment is a major secondary effect of ischemic stroke in many patients;however,few options are available for the early diagnosis and treatment of this *** aims of this study were to(1)determine the specific relationship between hypoxic andα-synuclein during the occur of poststroke cognitive impairment and(2)assess whether the serum phosphorylatedα-synuclein level can be used as a biomarker for poststro ke cognitive *** found that the phosphorylatedα-synuclein level was significantly increased and showed pathological aggregation around the cerebral infa rct area in a mouse model of ischemic *** addition,neuronalα-synuclein phosphorylation and aggregation were observed in the brain tissue of mice subjected to chronic hypoxia,suggesting that hypoxia is the underlying cause ofα-synuclein-mediated pathology in the brains of mice with ischemic *** phosphorylatedα-synuclein levels in patients with ischemic stroke were significantly lower than those in healt hy subjects,and were positively correlated with cognition levels in patients with ischemic ***,a decrease in serum high-density lipoprotein levels in stroke patie nts was significantly correlated with a decrease in phosphorylatedα-synuclein *** ischemic stroke mice did not show significant cognitive impairment or disrupted lipid metabolism 14 days after injury,some of them exhibited decreased cognitive function and reduced phosphorylatedα-synuclein *** together,our results suggest that serum phosphorylatedα-synuclein is a potential biomarker for poststroke cognitive impairment.

Sleep disturbances are common in patients with stroke,and sleep quality has a critical role in the onset and outcome of *** sleep exacerbates neurological injury,impedes nerve regeneration,and elicits serious ***,exploring a therapy suitable for patients with stroke and sleep disturbances is *** a multi-targeted nonpharmacological intervention,remote ischemic conditioning can reduce the ischemic size of the brain,improve the functional outcome of stroke,and increase sleep ***/clinical evidence showed that this method can inhibit the inflammatory response,mediate the signal transductions of adenosine,activate the efferents of the vagal nerve,and reset the circadian clocks,all of which are involved in sleep *** particular,cytokines tumor necrosis factorα(TNFα)and adenosine are sleep factors,and electrical vagal nerve stimulation can improve *** the basis of the common mechanisms of remote ischemic conditioning and sleep regulation,a causal relationship was proposed between remote ischemic conditioning and post-stroke sleep quality.

Status of hyperhomocysteinemia in China: results from the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening Program, 2018

A nationwide survey was conducted from October 2018 to September 2019 to assess the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia(Hhcy)and its influencing factors in China.A standardized questionnaire was used to collect *** was defined as the level of serum homocysteine(HCY)≥15.0µmol/*** H-type hypertension(HHYP)was defined as hypertension with an elevated serum HCY(≥15.0µmol/L).Finally,110551 residents≥40 years of age from 31 provinces in the mainland of China were ***,the median serum HCY level was 10.9µmol/L(interquartile range 7.9–15.1).A total of 28633 participants(25.9%)were defined as *** Hhcy prevalence ranged from 7.9%in Shanghai to 56.8%in *** data showed that serum HCY levels were associated with age,male gender,cigarette smoking,hypertension,diabetes,ethnicity,endurance in exercise(inverse),and fruit and vegetable intake(inverse).In addition,15486 participants were defined as HHYP,and the rate was 14.0%.HHYP was an independent predictor of stroke with an adjusted odds ratio of 1.752(95%CI 1.338–2.105).The geographical distribution pattern of the Hhcy epidemic reflects dynamic differences,and national strategies should be carried out to further improve the care of patients with Hhcy across China.

Nowadays,mild hypothermia is widely used in the fields of post-cardiac arrest resuscitation,stroke,cerebral hemorrhage,large-scale cerebral infarction,and craniocerebral *** this paper,a locally mixed sub-low temperature device is designed,and the cold and hot water mixing experiment is used to simulate the human blood transfer *** set a foundation for the optimization of the heat transfer system,the static characteristics are analyzed by building the mathematic model and setting up the experimental *** addition,the affection of several key structure parameters is *** experimental and simulation studies,it can be concluded that,firstly,the mathematical model proved to be ***,the results of simulation experiments show that 14.52℃ refrigeration can reduce the original temperature of 33.42℃ to 32.02℃,and the temperature of refrigerated blood rises to 18.64℃,and the average error is about 0.3℃.Thirdly,as the thermal conductivity of the vascular sheath increases,the efficiency of the heat exchange system also increases ***,as the input cold blood flow rate increases,the mass increases and the temperature of the mixed blood temperature *** provides a research basis for subsequent research on local fixed-point sub-low temperature control technology.

Ischemic stroke is a major neurological disease with limited effective therapeutic options except for thrombolysis and thrombectomy. Remote ischemic conditioning (RIC) is an approach that promises an alternative to the current treatment portfolio. As an easy-handled, non-invasive regimen, it takes advantage of transient ischemia (currently often made through inflation and deflation of limb blood pressure cuff) to enhance the tolerance of vital organs to ischemia. RIC can be executed before, during and after the onset of stroke. The mechanisms of action of RIC employed at different stroke stages are similar and may involve humoral, neurological and inflammatory pathways. As new mechanisms underlying RIC-induced neuroprotection continue to be revealed, we review in this article some of the latest development in this field, including:① RIC and RIC-induced fundamental change, hypoxia, as well as the role of hypoxia inducible factors against stroke;② Potential role of RIC-induced extracellular vesicles in neuroprotection;③ RIC-induced metabolic changes in tissue protection;④ Potential effect of RIC on red blood cells (RBC) oxygen delivery;and ⑤ RIC and its anti-inflammatory potential.

Improving Long-Term Functional Outcomes of Ischemic Stroke in the Reperfusion Era

*** Stroke remains the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of death and disability combined worldwide,as indicated by disability-adjusted life-years(DALYs)lost[1].The highest burden of stroke disability is observed in developing countries of Asia and the stroke belt of the United States[2].Despite remarkable progress and advancements in evidence-based acute care therapies,such as intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular therapy,the burden of stroke remains significantly high[3].In 2023,a significant advancement in the treatment of ischemic stroke due to proximal intracranial arterial occlusion was marked by compelling evidence from several clinical trials that supported endovascular therapy,particularly for patients with a large ischemic core[4].Thus,endovascular therapy has entered a new era since the first clinical trial favoring endovascular ***,more patients receiving endovascular therapy does not equal a better *** with stroke experience long-term dysfunction,and the percentage is much higher in patients with large ischemic ***,numerous tasks must be performed to optimize acute stroke treatment strategies and improve rehabilitative care.
