Pore-scale visualization on a depressurization-induced CO2 exsolution

The pore-scale behavior of the exsolved CO_2 phase during the depressurization process in CO_2 geological storage was *** reservoir pressure decreases when the injection stops or when a leaking event or fluid extraction *** exsolution characteristics of CO_2 affect the migration and fate of CO_2 in the storage site ***,a micromodel experimental system that can accommodate a large pressure variation provides a physical model with homogeneous porous media to dynamically visualize the nucleation and growth of exsolved CO_2 *** pressure decreased from 9.85 to 3.95 MPa at different temperatures and depressurization rates,and the behavior of CO_2 bubbles was *** the pore-scale,the nuclei became observable when the CO_2 phase density was significantly reduced,and the pressure corresponding to this observation was slightly lower than that of the severe expansion pressure *** lower temperature and faster depressurization rate produced more CO_2 *** exsolved CO_2 bubble preferentially grew into the pore body instead of the *** progress of smaller CO_2 bubbles merging into a larger CO_2 bubble was first captured,which validated the existence of the Ostwald ripening *** dispersed CO_2 phase after exsolution shows similarity with the residually trapped CO_*** observation is consistent with the low mobility and high residual trapping ratio of exsolved CO_2 measured in the core-scale measurement,which is considered to be a self-sealing mechanism during depressurization process in CO_2 geological storage.

Case-based reasoning model based on attribute w&ghts optimized by genetic algorithm for predicting end temperature of molten steel in RH

Temperature control is the key of Ruhrstahl-Heraeus (RH) process in steelmaking plant. The accuracy of RH control model greatly affects the molten steel temperature fluctuation. To obtain RH control model with higher accuracy, an improved case-based reasoning (CBR) model based on attribute weights optimized by genetic algorithm (GA) was proposed. The fitness function in GA was determined according to the prediction accuracy of end temperature of molten steel in RH;then, GA is used to optimize all the attribute weights based on known case base. An improved CBR model that contains the optimized attribute weights was applied to predict end temperature of molten steel in RH, and the prediction accuracy wascalculated. Four methods, CBR based on attribute weights optimized by GA (CBR-GA), ordinary CBR, back propagation neural network (BPNN) and multiple linear regression (MLR) method were employed for comparison. The results show that in the error range of [- 3 ℃, 3 ℃],[- 5 ℃, 5 ℃],[- 7 ℃, 7 ℃] and [- 10 ℃, 10 ℃], the prediction accuracy of CBR-GA was improved by 19.99%, 28.19%, 27.11% and 16.3%, respectively, than that of MLR. Compared with BPNN, the prediction accuracy increased by 3.22%, 7.44%, 5.29% and 2.40%, respectively. Compared with ordinary CBR, the accuracy increased by 5.43%, 5.80%, 4.66% and 2.27%, respectively.

Bcl-2 enhances the formation of newborn striatal long-projection neurons in adult rat brain after a transient ischemic stroke

Objective It has been reported that B-cell lymphoma 2 （Bcl-2） enhances neurogenesis as well as supporting axonal growth after injury. In the present study, we investigated whether Bcl-2 overexpression plays a role in the formation of newborn striatonigral projection neurons in the adult rat brain after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion （MCAO）. Methods We infused human Bcl-2-expressing plasmid （pBcl-2） into the lateral ventricle immediately after 30 min of MCAO, injected 5＇-bromodeoxyuridine （BrdU） intraperitoneally to label proliferative cells, and microinjected fluorogold （FG） into the substantia nigra at 11 weeks of reperfusion followed by multiple immunostaining of striatonigral projection neurons at 12 weeks. Results We found that pBcl-2 treatment significantly increased the number of newborn neurons （BrdU＋-NeuN＋） in the striatum ipsilateral to the MCAO. We further detected newborn striatonigral projection neurons （BrdU＋-FG＋-NeuN＋） in the ipsilateral striatum at 12 weeks. More interestingly, the number of newborn striatonigral projection neurons （BrdU＋-FG＋） was significantly increased by pBcl-2 treatment compared to that by pEGFP, a control plasmid. Conclusion Taken together, we found that Bcl-2 overexpression in the brain enhanced the generation of newborn striatonigral projection neurons. This provides a potential strategy for promoting the reestablishment of neural networks and brain repair after ischemic injury.

Plasma Transferred Arc Surface Alloying of Cr-Ni-Mo Powders on Compacted Graphite Iron

A Cr-Ni-Mo overlayer was deposited on the surface of compacted graphite iron（CGI）by the plasma transferred arc（PTA）alloying *** microstructure of Cr-Ni-Mo overlayer was characterized by optical microscopy（OM）,scanning electron microscopy（SEM）equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy（EDS）,and X-ray diffractometer（XRD）.Results show that the cross-section consists of four regions：alloying zone（AZ）,molten zone（MZ）,heat affected zone（HAZ）,and the substrate（SUB）.The microstructure of AZ mainly consists of cellularγ-（Fe,Ni）solid solution,residual austenite and a network of eutectic Cr7C3 carbide while the MZ area has a typical feature of white cast iron（M3C-type cementite）.The martensite/ledeburite double shells are observed in the *** decreasing the concentration of Cr-Ni-Mo alloys,the fracture mode changes from ductile in the AZ to brittle in the *** maximum hardness of the AZ（450 HV0.2）is lower than that of the MZ（800 HV0.2）.The eutectic M3 C and M7C3 carbides increase the microhardness,while the austenite decreases that of the AZ.

Long-term continuous energy injection in the afterglow of GRB 060729

A long plateau phase and an amazing level of brightness have been observed in the X-ray afterglow of GRB 060729. This peculiar light curve is likely due to longterm energy injection in external shock. Here, we present a detailed numerical study of the energy injection process of magnetic dipole radiation from a strongly magnetized millisecond pulsar and model the multi-band afterglow observations. It is found that this model can successfully explain the long plateaus in the observed X-ray and optical afterglow light curves. The sharp break following the plateaus could be due to the rapid decline of the emission power of the central pulsar. At an even later time （～ 5×10^6 s）, an obvious jet break appears, which implies a relatively large half opening angle of θ ～ 0.3 for the GRB ejecta. Due to the energy injection, the Lorentz factor of the outflow is still larger than two even at 10^7 s after the GRB trigger, making the X-ray afterglow of this burst detectable by Chandra even 642 d after the burst.

A Deep Model for Partial Multi-label Image Classification with Curriculum-based Disambiguation

In this paper,we study the partial multi-label(PML)image classification problem,where each image is annotated with a candidate label set consisting of multiple relevant labels and other noisy *** PML methods typically design a disambiguation strategy to filter out noisy labels by utilizing prior knowledge with extra assumptions,which unfortunately is unavailable in many real ***,because the objective function for disambiguation is usually elaborately designed on the whole training set,it can hardly be optimized in a deep model with stochastic gradient descent(SGD)on *** this paper,for the first time,we propose a deep model for PML to enhance the representation and discrimination *** the one hand,we propose a novel curriculum-based disambiguation strategy to progressively identify ground-truth labels by incorporating the varied difficulties of different *** the other hand,consistency regularization is introduced for model training to balance fitting identified easy labels and exploiting potential relevant *** experimental results on the commonly used benchmark datasets show that the proposed method significantlyoutperforms the SOTA methods.
