The red imported fire ant,Solenopsis invicta Buren,poses a significant threat to biodiversity,agriculture,and public health in its introduced *** chemicals such as toxic baits and dust are the main methods for *** control,toxic baits are slow,requiring approximately one or two weeks,but dust can eliminate the colony of fire ants rapidly in just three to five *** explore more active ingredients for fire ant control using dusts,the toxicity of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin,the horizontal transfer of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin dust and their efficacy in the field were *** results showed that the LD50(lethal dose) values of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin were 3.40 and 1.57 ng/ant,*** KT50(median knockdown time) and KT95(95%knockdown time) values of a 20μg mL^(–1)bifenthrin dose were 7.179and 16.611 min,*** KT50and KT95of a 5μg mL^(–1)dimefluthrin dose were 1.538 and 2.825 min,*** horizontal transfers of bifenthrin and dimefluthrin among workers were *** mortality of recipients (secondary mortality) and secondary recipients (tertiary mortality) were both over 80%at 48 h after 0.25,0.50 and 1.00%bifenthrin dust *** secondary mortality of recipients was over 99%at 48 h after 0.25,0.50 and 1.00% dimefluthrin dust treatments,but the tertiary mortality was below 20%.The field trial results showed that both bifenthrin and dimefluthrin exhibited excellent fire ant control effects,and the comprehensive control effects of 1.00%bifenthrin and dimefluthrin dusts at 14 d post-treatment were 95.87 and 85.70%,respectively.

Dear Editor,The placenta separates fetus and mother,with the trophoblast playing a most important role in defense against potential harm from the maternal immune *** the placenta is normal tissue,it shares several common features with malignant cells.1 Based on similar strategies,these cells are able to successfully coexist in an immunologically hostile environment.2 A detailed analysis and comparison of different placental model systems will not only contribute to our in-depth understanding of the exciting field of placental development research but also may offer valuable insights on the broad field of cancer studies.

Background Early detection and accurate staging are crucial for planning treatment and improving survival rate of hilar cholangiocarcinomas. This study investigated the diagnostic value of a three dimensional, spoiled gradient echo, Tl-weighted magnetic resonance （MR） imaging sequence （3D volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination, 3D-VIBE） in the preoperative evaluation of hilar cholangiocarcinoma. Methods Thirty-one patients with surgically and histologically confirmed hilar cholangiocarcinomas underwent preoperative MR imaging examination. Unenhanced two-dimensional T1- and T2-weighted images, 2D MR cholangiopancreatographs （MRCP）, gadolinium enhanced 3D-VIBE images in the early arterial, late arterial and portal venous phases followed by 2D Tl-weighted images in the equilibrium phase were acquired. Images from 3D-VIBE, 2D T1-weighted enhanced sequences and 2D MRCP were interpreted by two abdominal radiologists through consensus reading in blind manner, focussing on the assessment of the morphological type, the longitudinal extent of tumor infiltration in the bile ducts and the involvement of neighbouring blood vessels. The accuracy of 3D-VIBE and 2D T1-weighted enhanced sequences in assessing the tumor resectability was compared. Results All the 31 tumors were directly displayed and accurately classified on 3D-VIBE images whereas 8 periductal infiltrating tumors （8/31, 25.8%） were not depicted on 2D T1-weighted enhanced images. Using the Bismuth Corlette classification, 3D-VIBE was closer to MRCP in delineating the intraductal extent of tumor infiltration than 2D T1-weighted enhanced （28/31, 90.3%; 10/31, 32.3%; x^2=22.0, P〈0.05）. Involvement of the hepatic artery, the portal venous trunk and their branches was shown more frequently on 3D VIBE than 2D T1-weighted enhanced images. The positive predictive value and accuracy of 3D-VIBE （84.2%; 90.3%） for assessing tumor resectability were higher than those of 2D T1-weighted enhanced images （64.0%; 71.0%, a

Objective： To investigate whether elevated homocysteine levels were a predictor of subsequent coronary heart disease （CHD） mortality, cardiovascular mortality or all-cause mortality in the general population by a meta- analysis. Methods： In a systematic search conducted in the databases of PubMed and Embase prior to October 2013, we identified relevant prospective observational studies evaluating the association between baseline homocysteine levels and CHD mortality, cardiovascular or all-cause mortality in the general population. Pooled adjust risk ratio （RR） and corresponding 95% confidence interval （CI） were calculated separately for categorical risk estimates and con- tinuous risk estimates. Results： Twelve studies with 23 623 subjects were included in the meta-analysis. Comparing the highest to lowest homocysteine level categories, CHD mortality increased by 66% （RR 1.66; 95% CI 1.12-2.47; P=-0.012）, cardiovascular mortality increased by 68% （RR 1.68; 95% CI 1.04-2.70; P=0.033）, and all-cause mortality increased by 93% （RR 1.93; 95% CI 1.54-2.43; P〈0.001）. Moreover, for each 5 pmol/L homocysteine increment, the pooled RR was 1.52 （95% CI 1.26-1.84; ,〈0.001） for CHD mortality, 1.32 （95% CI 1.08-1.61; P=0.006） for cardio- vascular mortality, and 1.27 （95% CI 1.03-1.55; P=-0.023） for all-cause mortality. Conclusions： Elevated homocysteine levels are an independent predictor for subsequent cardiovascular mortality or all-cause mortality, and the risks were more pronounced among elderly persons.

Objective： Assess clinical efficacy and safety analysis of laparoscopic-assisted vaginal surgery and laparoscopic-alone surgery in treatment of endometrial cancer. Methods： select 76 cases of endometrial cancer patients, divided into two groups, 40 in laparoscopic-alone group and 36 in laparoscopic-assisted group, and compare operation time, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative complications, postoperative complications, lymph node number, anal exhaust time, indwelling catheter days and hospitalization days by group. Result： compared with laparoscopic-alone surgery, laparoscopic-assisted vaginal surgery has certain advantages in reducing intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative and postoperative complications, anal exhaust time, indwelling catheter days and hospitalization days. Discussion： laparoscopic-assisted vaginal surgery is a relatively safe, effective and good economic benefit surgical method in treatment of endometrial cancer.

AIM To investigate whether mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) from adipose-derived stromal cells(ADSCs) and bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs) have similar hepatic differentiation *** Mouse ADSCs and BMSCs were isolated and cultured. Their morphological and phenotypic characteristics, as well as their multiple differentiation capacity were compared. A new culture system was established to induce ADSCs and BMSCs into functional hepatocytes. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and immunofluorescence analyses were performed to identify the induced hepatocytelike cells. CM-Dil-labeled ADSCs and BMSCs were then transplanted into a mouse model of CCl4-induced acute liver failure. fluorescence microscopy was used to track the transplanted MSCs. Liver function was tested by an automatic biochemistry analyzer, and liver tissue histology was observed by hematoxylin and eosin(HE) *** ADSCs and BMSCs shared a similar morphology and multiple differentiation capacity, as well as a similar phenotype(with expression of CD29 and CD90 and no expression of CD11 b or CD45). Morphologically, ADSCs and BMSCs became round and epithelioid following hepatic induction. These two cell types differentiated into hepatocyte-like cells with similar expression of albumin, cytokeratin 18, cytokeratin 19, alpha fetoprotein, and cytochrome P450. fluorescence microscopy revealed that both ADSCs and BMSCs were observed in the mouse liver at different time points. Compared to the control group, both the function of the injured livers and HE staining showed significant improvement in the ADSC-and BMSC-transplanted mice. There was no significant difference between the two MSC *** ADSCs share a similar hepatic differentiation capacity and therapeutic effect with BMSCs in an acute liver failure model. ADSCs may represent an ideal seed cell type for cell transplantation or a bio-artificial liver support system.

Full utilization of the excited species at both singlet states(1R*)and triplet states(3R*)is crucial to improving electrochemiluminescence(ECL)efficiency but is challenging for organic luminescent ***,an aggregation-induced delayed ECL(AIDECL)active organic dot(OD)containing a benzophenone acceptor and dimethylacridine donor is reported,which shows high ECL efficiency via reverse intersystem crossing(RISC)of non-emissive 3R*to emissive 1R*,overcoming the spin-forbidden radiative decay from 3R*.By introducing dual donor-acceptor pairs into luminophores,it is found that nonradiative pathway could be further suppressed via enhanced intermolecular weak interactions,and multiple spin-up conversion channels could be *** a consequence,the obtained OD enjoys a 6.8-fold higher ECL efficiency relative to the control AIDECL-active ***-crystal studies and theoretical calculations reveal that the enhanced AIDECL behaviors come from the acceleration of both radiative transition and *** work represents a major step towards purely organic,high-efficiency ECL dyes and a direction for the design of next-generation ECL dyes at the molecular level.
