Synergistic effects of Pleistocene geological and climatic events on complex phylogeographic history of widespread sympatric species of Megaloptera in East Asia

Unraveling the phylogeographic histories of species remains a key endeavor for comprehending the evolutionary processes contributing to the rich biodiversity and high endemism found in East Asia. In this study, we explored the phylogeographic patterns and demographic histories of three endemic fishfly and dobsonfly species ( Neochauliodes formosanus, , Protohermes costalis, , and Neoneuromus orientalis) ) belonging to the holometabolan order Megaloptera. These species, which share a broad and largely overlapping distribution, were analyzed using comprehensive mitogenomic data. Our findings revealed a consistent influence of vicariance on the population isolation of Neoc. formosanus and P. costalis between Hainan, Taiwan, and the East Asian mainland during the early Pleistocene, potentially hindering subsequent colonization of the later diverged Neon. orientalis to these islands. Additionally, we unveiled the dual function of the major mountain ranges in East Asia, serving both as barriers and conduits, in shaping the population structure of all three species. Notably, we demonstrated that these co-distributed species originated from Southwest, Southern, and eastern Central China, respectively, then subsequently migrated along multi-directional routes, leading to their sympatric distribution on the East Asian mainland. Furthermore, our results highlighted the significance of Pleistocene land bridges along the eastern coast of East Asia in facilitating the dispersal of mountain- dwelling insects with low dispersal ability. Overall, this study provides novel insight into the synergistic impact of Pleistocene geological and climatic events in shaping the diversity and distribution of aquatic insects in East Asia.

Identification of AFLP Markers linked to Lr19 Resistance to Wheat Leaf Rust

AFLP analyses were carried out on Thatcher, 23 near-isogenic lines and F2 generation of TcLr19 × Thatcher, to develop molecular markers for gene Lr19 resistance to wheat leaf rust. Seven markers linked to Lr19 resistance trait were obtained, which were P-AGT/M-GAG289 bp （3.3 cM）, P-ACA/M-GGT102 bp （4.1 cM）, P-ACA/M-GGT106 bp （4.1 cM）, P-AAC/M-CAG123 bp （4.9 cM）, P-AAC/M-GGT203bp （5.0 cM）, P-ACA/M-GGT290bp （5.7 cM）, and P-ATC/M-GAG293bp （9.6 cM）. All of these specific fragments were isolated from the polyacrylamide gels, reamplified, cloned, and sequenced. The research may facilitate genetic mapping, physical mapping, and the eventual cloning of Lr19.

Micro/nanorobots hold exciting prospects for biomedical and even clinical applications due to their small size and high ***,it is still a big challenge to maneuver micro/nanorobots into narrow spaces with high deformability and adaptability to perform complicated biomedical ***,we report a light-controlled soft bio-microrobots(called“Ebot”)based on Euglena gracilis that are capable of performing multiple tasks in narrow microenvironments including intestinal mucosa with high controllability,deformability and *** motion of the Ebot can be precisely navigated via light-controlled polygonal flagellum ***,the Ebot shows highly controlled deformability with different light illumination duration,which allows it to pass through narrow and curved microchannels with high *** these features,Ebots are able to execute multiple tasks,such as targeted drug delivery,selective removal of diseased cells in intestinal mucosa,as well as photodynamic *** light-controlled Ebot provides a new bio-microrobotic tool,with many new possibilities for biomedical task execution in narrow and complicated spaces where conventional tools are difficult to access due to the lack of deformability and bio-adaptability.

An overview of the current research status and control methods of MnS in non-quenched and tempered steel was *** a low-melting plastic inclusion,the morphology and distribution of MnS were influenced by various production ***,control of MnS is a systematic problem that must be integrated into the entire production *** on the production process,the factors affecting the morphology and distribution of MnS in steel were *** effects of oxygen activity,manganese,sulfur,and some alloys on MnS inclusion precipitation were summarized,mainly including MnS modification treatment and oxygen-sulfide composite precipitation *** is believed that MnS precipitates during the solidification process of steel,and controlling the solidification cooling rate could effectively regulate the size and morphology of MnS,avoiding the precipitation of ***,by changing the deformation rate,deformation amount,deformation temperature during the hot deformation process,and heating time and temperature during heat treatment,the distribution and morphology of MnS could be *** the fine control of the above process parameters,the number of II-MnS in steel could be effectively reduced,and their morphology could be improved,thereby enhancing the performance of non-quenched and tempered steel and promoting its wider ***,applying laboratory research results to industrial production is an important direction for future research efforts in this field.

Style-conditioned music generation with Transformer-GANs

Recently,various algorithms have been developed for generating appealing ***,the style control in the generation process has been somewhat *** style refers to the representative and unique appearance presented by a musical work,and it is one of the most salient qualities of *** this paper,we propose an innovative music generation algorithm capable of creating a complete musical composition from scratch based on a specified target style.A style-conditioned linear Transformer and a style-conditioned patch discriminator are introduced in the *** style-conditioned linear Transformer models musical instrument digital interface(MIDI)event sequences and emphasizes the role of style ***,the style-conditioned patch discriminator applies an adversarial learning mechanism with two innovative loss functions to enhance the modeling of music ***,we establish a discriminative metric for the first time,enabling the evaluation of the generated music’s consistency concerning music *** objective and subjective evaluations of our experimental results indicate that our method’s performance with regard to music production is better than the performances encountered in the case of music production with the use of state-of-the-art methods in available public datasets.

Although the internal electric field(IEF)of photocatalysts is acknowledged as a potent driving force for photocharge separation,modulating the IEF intensity to achieve enhanced photocatalytic performances remains a ***,cuprous sulfide nanosheets with different Cu vacancy concentration were employed to study IEF modulation and corresponding direct charge *** the samples,Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets possessed intensified IEF intensity compared with those of Cu_(2)S and Cu_(1.95)S nanosheets,suggesting that an enhanced IEF intensity could be achieved by introducing more Cu *** intensified IEF of Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets induced numerous photogenerated electrons to migrate to its surface,and the dissociative electrons were then captured by Cu vacancies,resulting in efficient charge separation *** addition,the Cu vacancies on Cu_(1.8)S nanosheets accumulated electrons as active sites to lower the energy barrier of rate-determining step of CO_(2)photoreduction,leading to the selective conversion of CO_(2)to ***,the manipulation of IEF intensity through Cu vacancy concentration regulation of cuprous sulfide photocatalysts for efficient charge separation has been discussed,providing a scientific strategy to rationally improve photocata lytic performances for solar energy conversion.

Combined blasting for protection of gob-side roadway with thick and hard roof

The deformation control of surrounding rock in gobside roadway with thick and hard roof poses a significant challenge to the safety and efficiency of coal *** address this issue,a novel approach combining directional and non-directional blasting techniques,known as combined blasting,was *** study focuses on the experimental investigation of the proposed method in the 122108 working face in Caojiatan Coal Mine as the engineering *** initial phase of the study involves physical model experiments to reveal the underlying mechanisms of combined blasting for protecting gob-side roadway with thick and hard *** results demonstrate that this approach effectively accelerates the collapse of thick and hard roofs,enhances the fragmentation and expansion coefficient of gangue,facilitates the filling of the goaf with gangue,and provides support to the overlying strata,thus reducing the subsidence of the overlying strata above the ***,the method involves cutting the main roof into shorter beams to decrease the stress and disrupt stress transmission *** numerical simulations were conducted to corroborate the findings of the physical model experiments,thus validating the accuracy of the experimental ***,field engineering experiments were performed,affirming the efficacy of the combined blasting method in mitigating the deformation of surrounding rock and achieving the desired protection of the gob-side roadway.

In recent years,research has focused heavily on the investigation of functionalized ammonium polyphosphate(APP)flame retardants to improve the fire safety of epoxy resins(EP).The reason for this is the dual nature of APP's performance in fire protection of *** article provides a comprehensive overview of the advances in the use of functionalized APP flame retardants to improve the fire resistance of EP *** then presents the improvement of the modification of the functionalized APP flame retardants in terms of the hydrophobicity,compatibility and catalytic ability of the flame retardants,as well as the effects on the fire resistance,heat resistance,smoke reduction and mechanical properties of the EP *** the summary and comparison of the relevant studies,it is clear that the functionalized APP flame retardants can effectively improve the fire safety of EP composites and offset the adverse effects of APP in EP flame retardant *** addition,APP flame retardants can obtain various excellent functions through the use of materials with different properties,and the interaction between APP and materials can also lead to more efficient fire ***,the current problem is to find ways to streamline the process and minimise the costs associated with functionalized APP flame retardants,as well as to use them effectively in industrial *** hope that this review can provide valuable hints and insights for the practical application of functionalized APP in EP and perspectives for future research.

How incubation temperature affects hatchling performance in reptiles: an integrative insight based on plasticity in metabolic enzyme

Evaluating the effects of temperature variations on animals plays an important role in understanding the threat of climate *** effects of developmental temperature on offspring performance are critical in evaluating the effects of warming temperatures on the fitness of ovipa-rous species,but the physiological and biochemical basis of this developmental plasticity is largely *** this study,we incubated eggs of the turtle Pelodiscus sinensis at low(24℃),medium(28℃),and high(32℃)temperatures,and evaluated the effects of developmental temperature on offspring fitness,and metabolic enzymes in the neck and limb muscles of *** hatchlings from eggs incubated at the medium temperature showed better fitness-related performance(righting response and swimming capacity)and higher activities of metabolic enzymes(hexokinase,HK;lactate dehydrogenase,LDH)than hatchlings from the eggs incubated at high or low *** addition,the swimming speed and righting response were significantly correlated with the HK activities in limb(swimming speed)and neck(righting response)muscles,suggesting that the developmental plasticity of energy metabolic pathway might play a role in determining the way incubation temperature affects offspring *** the fitness-related performance and the activities of metabolic enzymes,we predict that the P sinensis from high latitude would not face the detrimental effects of climate warming until the average nest temperatures reach 32℃.

Centenarians,as excellent examples of extreme yet successful aging,not only display a much longer lifespan but can also delay or even escape major agerelated diseases,such as cardiovascular disorders,neurodegenerative diseases,and cancer [1].Studies have suggested that genetic factors account for 20%-30%of human longevity [2];however,only a handful of longevity-associated genes/mutations have been observed in long-lived individuals,even with the use of genome-wide scanning/sequencing assays [3,4].In contrast,evidence has shown the crucial roles of epigenetic alternations in aging and age-related diseases [5],suggesting that epigenetic modifications play central roles in human healthy ***,a comprehensive analysis of the epigenomic landscape of centenarians is urgently needed.
