Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia(NO3−RR)for removing nitrate from wastewater is a promising but challengeable technology that is increasingly studied.Herein,we developed an efficient CuO_(x)and CoCuO_(x)composed hybrid catalyst(CoCuO_(x)@CuO_(x)/copper foam(CF)),characteristic of distinctive shell-core nanowires grown on CF substrate with CuO_(x)core and CoCuO_(x)shell.The built-in electric field formed at the interface of the CoO/Cu_(2)O heterostructure promotes NO3−adsorption by modulating the charge distribution at the interface,which greatly improves the ammonia yield rate and Faradaic efficiency.At−0.2 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE),CoCuO_(x)@CuO_(x)/CF achieves not only an excellent ammonia yield rate of up to 519.1μg·h^(−1)·cm^(−2)and Faradaic efficiency of 99.83%at 1 mM NO3−concentration,but also excellent mechanical stabilities.This study provides a novel pathway to design electrocatalyst for the removal of nitrate from dilute nitric acid solutions(≤2 mM).

Hydrogen acquisition from solar energy is an effective way to address energy crisis,which makes the development of efficient photocatalysts become the main direction of scientific research.Herein,cobalt phthalocyanine/oxygen-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CoPc/OCN) S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was designed by coupling multi-step calcination with solvothermal method for enhanced photothermal-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) evolution.The multistep calcined g-C_(3)N_(4) is easier for O-doping formation,and the ethanol solvothermal strategy is utilized to enhance the dispersion of CoPc on OCN nano sheet surface and forms sufficient S-scheme heterojunction through H-bonds.In addition,the active sites and excellent photothermal properties of CoPc itself further improve the integrated photocatalytic activity of CoPc/OCN S-scheme heterojunction.The optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of CoPc/OCN S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst reached 9.56 mmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which is 2.69 and 1.23 times higher than that of CN and OCN,respectively.This work provides a valuable design idea and scheme for enhancing the multi-factor co-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) evolution performance.

Fivenovel Daphniphyllum alkaloids,named dcalycinumines A-E(1-4,6),andeight previously described Daphniphyllum alkaloids(5,7-13)were isolated from Daphniphyllum calycinum.Compound 1 is the first Daphniphyllum alkaloid possessing a highly rearranged 6/6/6/7/5/6 hexacyclic architecture with a unique 3-methyl-1-azabicyclo[4,4,0]decane ring system.Compound 2 represents a rare diamino Daphniphyllum alkaloid with an unprecedented 6/5/5/6/6/5 carbon skeleton featuring a unique 1-aza-6-azaspiro[4,5]decane unit,whereas 3 also represents a rare diamino Daphniphyllum alkaloid as a possible precursor of 2.Compound 4 is the second example of c-22-nor yuzurimine-type alkaloids.Their structures and absolute configurations were elucidated by HRESIMS,NMR spectroscopic analyses,EcD calculations,and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.Moreover,compound 1 showed remarkable antitumor activities,which could inhibit the proliferation,migration and invasion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells,and promoted nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells apoptosis.

Soil salinization is an essential environmental stressor,threatening agricultural yield and ecological security worldwide.Saline soils accumulate excessive soluble salts which are detrimental to most plants by limiting plant growth and productivity.It is of great necessity for plants to efficiently deal with the adverse effects caused by salt stress for survival and successful reproduction.Multiple determinants of salt tolerance have been identified in plants,and the cellular and physiological mechanisms of plant salt response and adaption have been intensely characterized.Plants respond to salt stress signals and rapidly initiate signaling pathways to re-establish cellular homeostasis with adjusted growth and cellular metabolism.This review summarizes the advances in salt stress perception,signaling,and response in plants.A better under-standing of plant salt resistance will contribute to improving crop performance under saline conditions using multiple engineering approaches.The rhizosphere microbiome-mediated plant salt tolerance as well as chemical priming for enhanced plant salt resistance are also discussed in this review.

Viable but non-culturable(VBNC)bacteria have been detected in source water and effluent of drinking water treatment processes,leading to significant underestimation of viable cell counts.Limited information exists on VBNC bacteria in tap water,particularly in public places.To address this gap,a comprehensive nine-month study was conducted in a major city in south-eastern China,using culture-based and quantitative PCR with propidium monoazide(PMA)dye methods.Forty-five samples were collected from five representative public places(railway station,campus,hospital,shopping mall,and institution).The findings revealed that culturable bacteria represented only 0–17.51%of the viable 16S rRNA genes,suggesting that the majority of viable bacteria existed in an uncultured or VBNC state.Notably,opportunistic pathogens such as Escherichia coli,Enterococcus faecalis,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Salmonella sp.,and Shigella sp.were primarily detected as VBNC cells,with concentrations ranging from 1.03×10^(0)to 3.01×10^(3),1.20×10^(0)to 1.42×10^(2),1.32×10^(0)to 8.82×10^(0),1.00×10^(0)to 6.71×10^(1),and 2.07×10^(0)to 1.93×10^(2)cell equivalent/100 mL,respectively.Culturable P.aeruginosa was observed in tap water after prolonged stagnation,indicating potential risks associated with bacterial regrowth.Spatial and temporal factors accounted for 17.1%and 26.0%,respectively,of the variation in tap water community structure during the sampling period,as revealed by 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing.This study provides quantitative insights into the occurrence of VBNC bacteria in tap water and highlights the need for more sensitive monitoring methods and microbial control techniques to enhance tap water safety in public locations.

The effects of Y_(2)O_(3) on the microstructure, microhardness, wear resistance, high-temperature oxidation resistance, hot corrosion resistance, and electrochemical corrosion behaviour of CoCrFeNiTiNb high entropy alloy coatings formed on Ti-6Al-4V alloy surfaces were studied. The results show that the addition of Y_(2)O_(3) changes the proportion of the phase but does not change its type. The average grain size is only 1/4.7 of that of the high entropy alloy(HEA) coating, and the fine-grained strengthening leads to increases in the microhardness and wear resistance of 21.8% and 26.9%, respectively. The addition of Y_(2)O_(3) enhances the denseness and bonding properties of the oxide and corrosion product layers, reducing the oxidation and hot corrosion rates by 60.3% and 40.3%, respectively. The addition of Y_(2)O_(3) doubles the corrosion resistance which is attributed to the refinement of the grains, the increased proportion of HCP and TiN, and the weakening of galvanic coupling corrosion.

The induction of dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs)into odontogenic differentiation is a cutting-edge method of dental pulp regeneration treatment.However,it remains a challenge to develop biomaterials and ther-apies that can induce odontogenic differentiation.Here,we propose a wireless electrical stimulation strat-egy to induce DPSCs odontogenic differentiation via K_(0.5)Na_(0.5)NbO_(3)piezoelectric nanoparticles(KNN)and polarized KNN(PKNN),which can be endocytosed by DPSCs.In vitro,several odontogenic differentiation indexes were also increased in DPSCs treated with KNN and PKNN,and the increase was more obvious in the PKNN group.Intracellular wireless electrical field promoted mitochondrial calcium concentration via mitochondrial calcium unidirectional transporter(MCU),increased the production of adenosine triphos-phate(ATP),and induced odontogenic differentiation through the activation of the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway.In vivo,dental pulp-like tissue was induced by electrical stimulation wirelessly with KNN and PKNN,which was more clinically friendly compared with the wired device,and the induction was more obvious in the PKNN group consistent with in vitro experiments.In conclusion,this work demonstrates the potential of PKNN as an effective stimulus that can induce odontogenic differentiation of DPSCs and be applied to dental pulp regeneration treatment.

BACKGROUND Human-derived gastric cancer organoids(GCOs)are widely used in gastric cancer research;however,the culture success rate is generally low.AIM To explore the potential influencing factors,and the literature on successful culture rates of GCOs was reviewed using meta-analysis.METHODS PubMed,Web of Science,and EMBASE were searched for studies.Two trained researchers selected the studies and extracted data.STATA 17.0 software was used for meta-analysis of the incidence of each outcome event.The adjusted Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies scale was used to assess the quality of the included studies.Funnel plots and Egger’s test were used to detect publication bias.Subgroup analyses were conducted for sex,tissue source,histo-logical classification,and the pathological tumor-node-metastasis(pTNM)cancer staging system.RESULTS Eight studies with a pooled success rate of 66.6%were included.GCOs derived from women and men had success rates of 67%and 46.7%,respectively.GCOs from surgery or biopsy/endoscopic submucosal dissection showed success rates of 70.9%and 53.7%,respectively.GCOs of poorly-differentiated,moderately-differentiated and signet-ring cell cancer showed success rates of 64.6%,31%,and 32.7%,respectively.GCOs with pTNM stages I-II and III-IV showed success rates of 38.3%and 65.2%,respectively.Y-27632 and non-Y-27632 use showed success rates of 58.2%and 70%,respectively.GCOs generated with collagenase were more successful than those constructed with Liberase TH and TrypLE(72.1%vs 71%,respectively).EDTA digestion showed a 50%lower success rate than other methods(P=0.04).CONCLUSION GCO establishment rate is low and varies by sex,tissue source,histological type,and pTNM stage.Omitting Y-27632,and using Liberase TH,TrypLE,or collagenase yields greater success than EDTA.

How galaxies assemble masses through their own star formation or interaction with the external environment is still an important topic in the field of galaxy formation and evolution.We use Value Added Catalogs with galaxy features that are spatially and temporally resolved from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 17 to investigate the mass growth histories of early-type galaxies(ETGs)and late-type galaxies(LTGs).We find that the mass growth of ETGs is earlier than that of LTGs for massive galaxies(M_(*)>10^(10)M_⊙),while low-mass(M_(*)≤10^(10)M_⊙)ETGs have statistically similar mass assembly histories as low-mass LTGs.The stellar metallicity of all massive galaxies shows a negative gradient and basically does not change with time.However,in low-mass galaxies,the stellar metallicity gradient of elliptical galaxies is negative,and the stellar metallicity gradient of lenticular and spiral galaxies evolves from positive to negative.ETGs are not all in a high-density environment,but exhibit mass dependence.As the tidal strength increases,the star formation rate of low-mass ETGs rapidly decreases.These results support a picture where massive galaxies exhibit inside-out quenching mode,while low-mass galaxies show outside-in quenching mode.Environmental effects play an important role in regulating the mass assembly histories of low-mass ETGs.

Objective:To assess the risk of aristolochic acid(AA)-associated cancer in patients with AA nephropathy(AAN).Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on patients diagnosed with AAN at Peking University First Hospital from January 1997 to December 2014.Long-term surveillance and follow-up data were analyzed to investigate the influence of different factors on the prevalence of cancer.The primary endpoint was the incidence of liver cancer,and the secondary endpoint was the incidence of urinary cancer during 1 year after taking AA-containing medication to 2014.Results:A total of 337 patients diagnosed with AAN were included in this study.From the initiation of taking AA to the termination of follow-up,39 patients were diagnosed with cancer.No cases of liver cancer were observed throughout the entire follow-up period,with urinary cancer being the predominant type(34/39,87.17%).Logistic regression analysis showed that age,follow-up period,and diabetes were potential risk factors,however,the dosage of the drug was not significantly associated with urinary cancer.Conclusions:No cases of liver cancer were observed at the end of follow-up.However,a high prevalence of urinary cancer was observed in AAN patients.Establishing a direct causality between AA and HCC is challenging.
