Effect of Artemisia annua Extract on Treating Active Rheumatoid Arthritis:A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective：To investigate the effect and safety of the complementary use of the extract of Artemisia annua L.（EAA） on treating active rheumatoid arthritis（RA）. Methods：A randomized controlled clinical trial was performed. All the 159 participates with active RA were randomly assigned to the control group（80 cases） and EAA group（79 cases） using concealed random allocation method. In the control group, patients were medicated with leflunomide and methotrexate for 48 weeks; and patients in the EAA group were administrated with leflunomide, methotrexate plus EAA（30 g/d）. At the time points of 0, 12, 24 and 48 weeks, the clinical outcome measures, including objective pain score, tenderness score, number of painful joints, number of swollen joints, health assessment questionnaire（HAQ） score for quality of life, levels of serum rheumatoid factor（RF）, anti-cyclic citrullinated protein antibodies（CCP-Ab）, erythrocyte sedimentation rate（ESR）, C reactive protein（CRP）, visual analogue score for pain（VAS）, and the overall efficacy were detected and recorded. Results：The objective pain score, number of painful joints and ESR at 12 weeks, tenderness score and HAQ at 24 weeks, and the tenderness score, number of painfull joints, number of swollen joints, HAQ, CRP, RF and CCP-Ab at 48 weeks were significantly improved in the EAA group compared with the control group（P〈0.01 or P〈0.05）. At 24 and 48 weeks, the overall efficacy of the EAA group was significantly higher than the control group（P〈0.01）. There were significantly higher withdrawal rate of corticosteroids within 12 weeks post-treatment and lower incidence rate of adverse effects in the EAA group compared with the control group（P〈0.01 or P〈0.05）. Conclusion：EAA plus methotrexate and leflunomide were more effective and safer than the routine use of methotrexate and leflunomide in the treatment of active RA.

Aim To assess whether adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with adenomyosis are different according to the method of conception and the concurrent of uterine leiomyoma(UL).Methods We performed a retrospective ***-three singleton pregnancy cases complicated with adenomyosis were included in this *** the study group,15 women became pregnant with assisted reproductive technology(ART)and 21 women combined with *** outcomes were compared between ART and non-ART,UL and non-UL *** The prevalence for such complications as hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy(HDCP)and postpartum hemorrhage(PPH)were significantly higher in the women conceived by ART(33.3%vs.5.3%,P=0.023)and(53.3%vs.23.7%,P=0.037),*** women concurrent with UL of which the diameter≥4cm were more likely to have severe PPH(44.4%vs.0%,P=0.021).Conclusion ART may increase the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as HDCP and PPH in women with adenomyosis and UL of which the diameter≥4cm may further increase the risk of severe PPH.

Overexpression and Immunosuppressive Functions of Transforming Growth Factor 1,Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Interleukin-10 in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

Objective： Transforming growth factor-1 （TGF-βI）, vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF）, and interleukin-lO （IL-10） may be critical cytokines in the microenvironment of a tumor, playing roles in immune suppression. This study was conducted to elucidate the roles and immunosuppressive functions of these cytokines in epithelial ovarian cancer （EOC）. Methods： The expression levels of TGF-β1, VEGF and IL-10 in malignant tissue were evaluated by immune- histochemistry and compared with corresponding borderline, benign, and tumor-free tissues. Moreover, relationships among the levels of these cytokines and correlations between expression and the prognosis of EOC were analyzed by Pearson rank correlations and multi-factor Logistic regression. The roles of TGF-βI, VEGF, and IL-lO in the immunosuppressive microenvironment of ovarian cancer were studied through dendritic cell （DC） maturation and CD4＋CD25＋FoxP3＋ Treg generation in vitro experiments. Results： TGF-β1, VEGF, and IL-IO were expressed TGF-β1 was an independent prognostic factor for EOC n 100%, 74.69%, and 54.96% of EOC patients, respectively. L-IO was significantly co-expressed with VEGF. In vitro, VEGF and TGF-β31 strongly interfered with DC maturation and consequently led to immature DCs, which secreted high levels of IL-IO that accumulated around the tumor site. TGF-β1 and IL-10 induced Treg generation without antigen presentation in DCs. Conclusions： TGF-βI, VEGF and IL-IO play important roles in EOC and can lead to frequent immune evasion events.

A clinically reliable non-invasive test for endometriosis is expected to reduce the diagnostic *** varieties of biomarkers have been investigated for decades,and cancer antigen-125,cancer antigen-199,interleukin-6,and urocortin were the most studied ones among hundreds of biomarkers,no clinically reliable biomarkers have been confirmed so *** emerging technologies including“omics”technologies,molecular imaging techniques,and microRNAs are promising in solving these challenges,but their utility to detect endometriosis has yet to be *** combinations of researched indicators or other non-invasive methods and further exploration of the emerging technologies may be new targets and future research hotspots for non-invasive diagnosis of *** conclusion,researches of biomarkers for the detection of endometriosis are still ongoing and may benefit from novel molecular biology,bioinformatics methods and a combination of more diverse monitoring *** it will be a daunting task,the identification of a specific set of diagnostic biomarkers will undoubtedly improve the status of endometriosis.

Influence of previous laparoscopic surgical and pathological diagnosis of endometriosis on pregnancy outcomes in women with adenomyosis

Objectives:Previous studies demonstrated that endometriosis and adenomyosis are closely linked to lots of adverse pregnancy outcomes while the role of endometriosis in pregnant women with adenomyosis has not been explored *** present study aimed to evaluate the influence of previous laparoscopic surgical and pathological diagnosis of endometriosis on pregnancy outcomes in women with ***:A total of 60 pregnant women who were diagnosed with adenomyosis before or during pregnancy were included in this *** them,8 were also diagnosed with endometriosis by previous laparoscopic *** demographic characteristics and pregnancy outcomes were compared between women with adenomyosis only and those with the surgical history of ***:Compared with women with adenomyosis only,those concomitant with the surgical history of endometriosis had significantly higher age at delivery[37.5(36.25–39.75)vs.35(33.25–37),P=0.016]and an increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage(PPH)(adjusted OR:5.992,95%CI:1.03–34.857,P=0.046)while no significant differences were found in other adverse pregnancy outcomes between these two *** we further detected the risk factor of PPH in women with adenomyosis and found that the surgical history of endometriosis(OR:6.995,95%CI:1.16–42.171,P=0.034)and assisted reproductive technology(ART)(OR:5.062,95%CI:1.494–17.146,P=0.009)were the parameters closely associated with the occurrence of ***:The history of previous laparoscopic surgical and pathological diagnosis of endometriosis in pregnant women with adenomyosis may increase the risk of PPH,which still needs to be verified by future studies with a large sample ***,pregnancy through ART is also an increased risk factor for PPH in women with *** women with adenomyosis who conceived with the surgical history of endometriosis or by ART should be closely monitored for the reason of being at high risk of PPH.

Design of Ca-type todorokite catalysts with highly active for the selective reduction of NO_(x) by NH_(3) at low temperatures

Ca-type todorokite catalysts were designed and prepared by a simple redox method and applied to the selective reduction of NO_(x) by NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR)for the first *** with the Na-type manjiroite prepared by the same method,the todorokite catalysts with different Mn/Ca ratios showed greatly improved catalytic activity for NO_(x) *** them,Mn8Ca4 catalyst exhibited the best NH_(3)-SCR performance,achieving 90%NO_(x) conversion within temperature range of 70-275℃ and having a high sulphur *** to the Na-type manjiroite sample,Ca-type todorokite catalysts possessed an increased size of tunnel,resulting in a larger specific surface *** increased the amounts of Ca doping,the Na content in Ca-type todorokite catalysts significantly decreased,providing larger amounts of Bronsted acid sites for NH_(3) adsorption to produce NH_(4)^(+).The NH_(4)^(+)species were highly active for reaction with NO+O_(2),playing a determining role in NH_(3)-SCR process at low ***,larger amounts of surface adsorbed oxygen contained over the Ca-doping samples than that over Na-type manjiroite,promoting the oxidation of NO and fast SCR *** the Ca-type todorokite catalysts,furthermore,nitrates produced during the flow of NO+O_(2),were more active for reaction with NH_(3) than that over Na-type manjiroite,benefiting the occurrence of NH_(3)-SCR *** study provides novel insights into the design of NH_(3)-SCR catalysts with high performance.

Objective This study aimed to understand the epidemic status and phylogenetic relationships of rotavirus group A(RVA)in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province,*** This study included individuals aged 28 days–85 years.A total of 706 stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis collected between January 2019 and January 2020 were analyzed for 17 causative pathogens,including RVA,using a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel,followed by genotyping,virus isolation,and complete sequencing to assess the genetic diversity of *** The overall RVA infection rate was 14.59%(103/706),with an irregular epidemiological *** proportion of co-infection with RVA and other pathogens was 39.81%(41/103).Acute gastroenteritis is highly prevalent in young children aged 0–1 year,and RVA is the key pathogen circulating in patients 6–10 months of age with diarrhea.G9P[8](58.25%,60/103)was found to be the predominant genotype in the RVA strains,and the 41 RVA-positive strains that were successfully sequenced belonged to three different RVA genotypes in the phylogenetic *** analysis showed that gene reassortment events,selection pressure,codon usage bias,gene polymorphism,and post-translational modifications(PTMs)occurred in the G9P[8]and G3P[8]*** This study provides molecular evidence of RVA prevalence in the Pearl River Delta region of China,further enriching the existing information on its genetics and evolutionary characteristics and suggesting the emergence of genetic *** the surveillance of genotypic changes and gene reassortment in RVA strains is essential for further research and a better understanding of strain variations for further vaccine development.

Effects of Previous Laparoscopic Surgical Diagnosis of Endometriosis on Pregnancy Outcomes

Background： The association between the previous history ofendometriosis and obstetric outcomes is still ambiguous. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of previous history of operatively diagnosed endometriosis on pregnancy outcomes. Methods： A total of 98 primiparous women who had been diagnosed with endometriosis by previous laparoscopic surgery were included in this retrospective cohort study. Pregnancy outcomes were compared between these women （study group） who had a live birth and 300 women without endometriosis （control group） who had a live birth. In the study group, the pregnancy outcomes of 74 women who conceived naturally （no assisted reproductive technology [ART] subgroup） were simultaneously compared with 24 women who conceived by ART （ART subgroup）. Results： Miscarriage was observed in 23 of 98 women with endometriosis （23.5%）. There were 75 women who had a live birth after laparoscopic diagnosis ofendometriosis in the study group eventually. On multivariate analysis, the postpartum hemorrhage rate increased significantly in the study group when compared with the control group （adjusted odds ratio： 2.265, 95% confidence interval： 1.062, 4.872; P = 0.034）. There was an upward tendency of developing other pregnancy-related complications, such as preterm birth, placental abruption, placenta previa, cesarean section, fetal distress/anemia, and others in the study group than in the control group. However, the differences showed no statistical significance. Within the study group, the occurrence rate of postpartum hemorrhage and preterm birth was both higher in the ART subgroup than in the no ART subgroup. The differences both had statistical significance （44.4% vs. 17.5%, P = 0.024 and 27.8% vs. 1.8%, P = 0.010, respectively）. At the same time, median （interquartile range） for gestational age at delivery in the ART subgroup was significantly shorter than that in the no ART subgroup （38 weeks [36-39 weeks] vs. 39 weeks [38-40 weeks]; P = 0.005）. Elliptic curve cryptography is an important part of nowaday's public key *** points of elliptic curves over finite fields is of great significance to the selection of safety *** present,there are many p-adic algorithms,such as SST algorithm,generalized AGM algorithm,Kedlaya algorithm,etc.,which can deal with the situation of finite fields of small *** this paper,the authors generalize the MSST algorithm of characteristic 2 to general fields of odd characteristic,and propose the generalized MSST *** generalized MSST algorithm is achieved by combining the advantages of the SST algorithm and the generalized AGM *** the time complexity of the multiplication of two n-bit numbers is denoted as O((n)^(μ)),then the time complexity of the generalized MSST algorithm is O(n^(2μ+1/1+μ)),which is the same as the improved SST *** practical experiments,the running time of the generalized MSST algorithm is less than that of the improved SST algorithm.
