Osteochondral allografting has been proved to be a useful method to treat diseased or damaged areas of joint surfaces. Operational long-term stocks of grafts which supply a buffer between procurement and utilization would contribute to the commercialization or industrialization of this technology. Vitrification has been thought to be a promising method for successful preservation of articular cartilage （AC）, but high concentration cryoprotectants （CPAs） are used which may cause high cellular toxicity. An effective way to reduce CPA toxioity is to increase CPA concen- tration gradually while the temperature is lowered. Understanding the mechanism of （31~A permeation at subzero temperatures is important for designing the cryopreservation protocol. In this research, the permeation of dimethyl sulfoxide （MezSO） in ovine AC at subzero temperatures was studied experimentally. Pretreated AC discs were ex- posed in Me2SO solutions for different time （0, 5, 15, 30, 50, 80, and 120 min） at three temperature levels （-10, -20, and -30℃）. The Me2SO concentration within the tissue was determined by ultraviolet （UV） spectrophotometry. The diffusion coefficients were estimated to be 0.85×10-6, 0.48×10-8, and 0.27×10-6 cm2/s at -10, -20, and -,30℃, respectively, and the corresponding activation energy was 29.23 kJ/mol. Numerical simulation was performed to com- pare two Me2SO addition protocols, and the results demonstrated that the total loading duration could be effectively reduced with the knowledge of permeation kinetics.

The Cu-containing steels are widely used for nuclear pressure vessel materials because of their good performance under high pressure and high temperature. In this article, magnetron sputtering was used to prepare iron films with various Cu contents. The samples were annealed at temperature range of 300–500 °C, and the structural,mechanical, and magnetic properties were studied. The results show that both hardness and modulus change along with copper content and annealing temperature. The change in coercivity after annealing is similar to that of hardness. The crystal grain growth in matrix ferrum and Cu precipitation during annealing influences both the mechanical and magnetic properties.

The spontaneous condensation of the amphiphilic N-（O,O-dihexadecyl）phosphorylalanine on the cast film was observed by in situ investigation of transmission infrared spectroscopy The particular orientation and ordered packing of the monomers within the multilayers of the cast film is concluded to attribute to the spontaneous condensation between the monomers.

BACKGROUND Globally,although the jellyfish population has increased in recent years,ocular jellyfish stings remain an uncommon ophthalmic emergency,and have been rarely *** to a few previous reports,ocular jellyfish stings may cause anterior segment disorders,and most of these injuries were self-limited and spontaneously resolved within 24 to 48 *** SUMMARY A brother and sister both presented with severe fundus complications several years after ocular jellyfish stings and both had prolonged blurred *** our knowledge,such fundus lesions induced by jellyfish stings have not been reported *** The fundus status of patients following ocular jellyfish stings should be carefully monitored in cases of irreversible ocular damage.

AIM: To detect the expression of mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) in colon cancer and analyze the relation between UCP2 expression and clinical pathological features of colon ***: Fifteen colon tissue samples and 15 its adjacent tissue samples were obtained from colon cancer patients during surgical interventions. UCP2 expression was detected with immunohistochemical method in 10 normal controls, 10 hyperplastic polyp patients, 20 tubular adenoma patients and 78 colon cancer patients. Patients with rectal cancer were excluded. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were used to detect UCP2 expressions in colon cancer tissue samples and its adjacent tissue samples. Relation between UCP2 expression and clinical pathological features of colon cancer was also analyzed. RESULTS: The UCP2 mRNA expression level was fourfold higher in colon cancer tissue samples than in its adjacent tissue samples. The UCP2 protein expression level was three-fold higher in colon cancer tissue samples than in its adjacent normal tissue samples. The UCP2 was mainly expressed in cytoplasm. The UCP2 was not expressed in normal colon mucosa. Strong positive staining for UCP2 with a diffuse distribution pattern was identified throughout the mucosa in colon cancer tissue samples with a positive expression rate of 85.9%. The UCP2 expression level was higher in colon cancer tissue samples at clinical stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ than in those at stageⅠ+ Ⅱ. Univariate analysis showed that the high UCP2 expression level was significantly correlated to colon cancer metastasis (hazard ratio = 4.321, confidence interval = 0.035-0.682, P = 0.046). CONCLUSION: UCP2 is highly expressed in human colon cancer tissue and may be involved in colon cancer metastasis.

Flow-slide characteristics and failure mechanism of shallow landslides in granite residual soil under heavy rainfall

Affected by typhoons over years, Fujian Province in Southeast China has developed a large number of shallow landslides, causing a long-term concern for the local government. The study on shallow landslide is not only helpful to the local government in disaster prevention, but also the theoretical basis of regional early warning technology. To determine the whole-process characteristics and failure mechanisms of flow-slide failure of granite residual soil slopes, we conducted a detailed hazard investigation in Minqing County, Fujian Province, which was impacted by Typhoon Lupit-induced heavy rainfall in August 2021. Based on the investigation and preliminary analysis results, we conducted indoor artificial rainfall physical model tests and obtained the whole-process characteristics of flow-slide failure of granite residual soil landslides. Under the action of heavy rainfall, a granite residual soil slope experiences initial deformation at the slope toe and exhibits development characteristics of continuous traction deformation toward the middle and upper parts of the slope. The critical volumetric water content during slope failure is approximately 53%. Granite residual soil is in a state of high volumetric water content under heavy rainfall conditions, and the shear strength decreases, resulting in a decrease in stability and finally failure occurrence. The new free face generated after failure constitutes an adverse condition for continued traction deformation and failure. As the soil permeability(cm/h) is less than the rainfall intensity(mm/h), and it is difficult for rainwater to continuously infiltrate in short-term rainfall, the influence depth of heavy rainfall is limited. The load of loose deposits at the slope foot also limits the development of deep deformation and failure. Increasing wheat yield is a long-term goal for wheat breeders around the *** elite genetic resources and dissecting the genetic basis of important agronomic traits in wheat are the necessary methods for high-yield wheat *** study evaluated nine crucial agronomic traits found in a natural population of 156 wheat varieties and77 landraces from Sichuan,China in seven environments over two *** results of this investigation of agronomic traits showed that the landraces had more tillers and higher kernel numbers per spike (KNS),while the breeding varieties had higher thousand-kernel weight (TKW) and kernel weight per spike (KWS).The generalized heritability (H2) values of the nine agronomic traits varied from 0.74 to *** analysis suggested that the natural population could be divided into three groups using 43 198 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers from the wheat 55K SNP chip.A total of 67 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were identified by the genome-wide association study (GWAS) analysis based on the Q+K method of a mixed linear *** important QTLs were analyzed in this *** haplotypes of ***-7BL.1 for fertile tillers number (FTN),three haplotypes of ***-1AL.2 for KNS,and four haplotypes of ***-3BS.1 for TKW were ***-Hap2,KNS-Hap1,and TKW-Hap2 were excellent haplotypes for each QTL based on the yield performance of 42 varieties in regional trials from 2002 to *** varieties with all three haplotypes showed the highest yield compared to those with either two haplotypes or one *** addition,the KASP-AX-108866053 marker of QTL ***-1AL.2 was successfully distinguished between three haplotypes(or alleles) in 63 varieties based on the number of kernels per spike in regional trials between 2018 and *** genetic loci and reliable makers can be applied in marker-assisted selection or map-based gene cloning for the genetic improvement of wheat yield.

Evaluation of neuromuscular activity in patients with obstructive sleep apnea using chin surface electromyography of polysomnography

Background It is believed that defects in upper airway neuromuscular control play a role in sleep apnea pathogenesis. Currently, there is no simple and non-invasive method for evaluating neuromuscular activity for the purpose of screening in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. This study was designed to assess the validity of chin surface electromyography of routine polysomnography in evaluating the neuromuscular activity of obstructive sleep apnea subjects and probe the neuromuscular contribution in the pathogenesis of the condition. Methods The chin surface electromyography of routine polysomnography during normal breathing and obstructive apnea were quantified in 36 male patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The change of chin surface electromyography from normal breathing to obstructive apnea was expressed as the percent compensated electromyography value, where the percent compensated electromyography value = （normal breath surface electromyography - apnea surface electromyography）/normal breath surface electromyography, and the percent compensated electromyography values among subjects were compared. The relationship between sleep apnea related parameters and the percent compensated electromyography value was examined. Results The percent compensated electromyography value of the subjects varied from 1% to 90% and had a significant positive correlation with apnea hypopnea index （R2=0.382, P 〈0.001）. Conclusions Recording and analyzing chin surface electromyography by routine polysomnography is a valid way of screening the neuromuscular activity in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. The neuromuscular contribution is different among subjects with obstructive sleep apnea.

Dual atomic catalysts （DAC）,particularly copper （Cu2）-based nitrogen （N） doped graphene,show great potential to effectively convert CO2and nitrate （NO3-） into important industrial chemicals such as ethylene,glycol,acetamide,and urea through an efficient catalytical process that involves C–C and C–N ***,the origin of the coupling activity remained unclear,which substantially hinders the rational design of Cu-based catalysts for the N-integrated CO2reduction reaction （CO2RR）.To address this challenge,this work performed advanced density functional theory calculations incorporating explicit solvation based on a Cu2-based N-doped carbon (Cu2N6C10) catalyst for *** calculations are aimed to gain insight into the reaction mechanisms for the synthesis of ethylene,acetamide,and urea via coupling in the interfacial reaction *** to the sluggishness of CO2,the formation of a solvation electric layer by anions （F-,Cl-,Br-,and I-） and cations (Na+,Mg2+,K+,and Ca2+) leads to electron transfer towards the Cu *** process significantly accelerates the reduction of *** results reveal that*CO intermediates play a pivotal role in N-integrated ***,the Cu2-based N-doped carbon catalyst examined in this study has demonstrated the most potential for C–N coupling to *** findings reveal that through the process of a condensation reaction between*CO and NH2OH for urea synthesis,*NO3-is reduced to*NH3,and*CO2to*CCO at dual Cu atom *** dual-site reduction facilitates the synthesis of acetamide through a nucleophilic reaction between NH3and the ketene ***,we found that the I-and Mg2+ions,influenced by pH,were highly effective for acetamide and ammonia synthesis,except when F-and Ca2+were ***,the mechanisms of C–N bond formation were investigated via ab-initio molecular dynamics simulations,and we found that adjusting the micro-environment can change the dominant side reaction,shift
