A series of poly（L-glutamate）s grafted with oligo（ethylene glycol）（OEG） side-chains through the thioether linkages （PALGn-g-EGx, x = 2, 3 and 4） were prepared by ring-opening polymerization （ROP） of γ-allyl-L-glutamate N-carboxyanhydride （ALG-NCA） and thiol-ene photoaddition. The chemical structures and physical properties were characterized by 1H-NMR, Fourier transform infrared （FTIR）, circular dichroism （CD）, etc. The PALGn-g-EGx samples with x = 3 and 4 displayed lower critical solution temperature （LCST） in water due to the presence of OEG units. The clouding point （CP） of polypeptides can be finely tuned by changing the side chain structures, molecular weights and sample concentrations. In addition, the thioether linkages in the side chains offer additional redox-responsive properties. The influence of both OEG units and thioether linkages on the LCST behavior was systematically investigated. This work provides an efficient way to prepare multi-stimuli responsive materials with highly tunable properties.

Effects of light intensity on photosynthesis and photoprotective mechanisms in apple under progressive drought

The effects of light intensity on photosynthesis and photoprotective mechanisms under progressive drought were studied on apple trees (malus domestica Borkh.) Fuji. The potted trees were exposed to drought stress for 12 days and different light conditions (100, 60 and 25%sunlight). During the progressive drought, the relative water content (RWC) in leaf declined and was faster in ful light than in 60 and 25%sunlight. However, the decrease in the net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs) and Rubisco activity were slower under 100%sunlight condition than other light conditions. After the 6 days of drought, the maximum PSII quantum yield (Fv/Fm), the capacity of electrons move beyond QA?(1–VJ) and electron move from intersystem to PSI acceptor side (1–VI)/(1–VJ) decreased, with greater decline extent in brighter light. While RWCs were>75%, the variations in different light intensities of Gs and Rubisco activity at identical RWC, suggested the direct effects of light. While the little difference in the state of photosynthetic electron transport chain among tested light intensities indicates the results of faster water loss rate of light. Our results also demonstrated that the enhancement the de-epoxidations of xanthophyl cycle, activities of ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and catalase (CAT) were directly regulated by light intensity. While the higher photorespiration rate (Pr) under stronger light condition was mainly caused by faster water loss rate of light.

The human genome can be demarcated into domains based on distinct epigenetic *** trimethylation of histone H3 lysine 9(H3K9me3)is essential for the formation of constitutive heterochromatin ***,the extent to which genomic regions require specific densities or degrees of H3K9me3 for stable interactions remains ***,we utilize CRISPR-based DNA imaging to investigate the role of endogenous or ectopic H3K9me3 in chromatin dynamics and genomic *** select three loci(IDR3,TCF3,and PR1)with distinct levels of H3K9me3 to examine the genomic interactions and association with endogenous Heterochromatin Protein 1(HP1α)*** results demonstrate a positive correlation between the levels of H3K9me3 at the loci and their association with HP1α*** dual-color labeling and long-term tracking of IDR3 and PR1 loci,we find a periodical association between the two ranging from one to three *** perturbation-induced Genome organization(EpiGo)-KRAB introduces∼20 kilobases of H3K9me3 at the TCF3 locus,which is sufficient to establish a stable association between TCF3 and HP1α*** addition,EpiGo-mediated H3K9me3 also leads to stable genomic interaction between IDR3 and ***,these data suggest that the density of H3K9me3 could dictate the stability of interactions between genomic loci and HP1αcondensates.

Hematopoiesis is a finely tuned process that generates all blood cell types through self-renewal and differentiation, which is crucial for maintaining homeostasis. Acute infections can prompt a hematopoietic response known as emergency myelopoiesis. In this study, using a Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection model, we demonstrated for the first time that disruption of Fhl2 led to increased fungal burden,heightened inflammatory response and reduced survival rates. Impaired myeloid hematopoiesis and immune cell production were evident, as proved by the decreased numbers of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and granulocytes in the bone marrow of Fhl2-deficient mice. In conclusion, FHL2 regulated emergency myelopoiesis in response to C. albicans, affecting the host’s defense against pathogens.

The structural properties, heats of formation, elastic properties, and electronic structures of four compositions of binary A1-Li intermetallics, A13Li, A1Li, A12Li3, and A14Li9, are ana- lyzed in detail by using density functional theory. The calculated formation heats indicate a strong chemical interaction between A1 and Li for all the A1-Li intermetallics. In partic- ular, in the Li-rich A1-Li compounds, the thermodynamic stability of intermetallics linearly decreases with increasing concentration ***. According to the computational single crystal elastic constants, all the four A1-Li intermetallic compounds considered here are mechani- cally stable. The polycrystalline elastic modulus and Poisson＇s ratio have been deduced by using Voigt, Reuss, and Hill approximations, and the calculated ratios of bulk modulus to shear modulus indicate that the four compositions of binary A1-Li intermetallics are brittle materials. With the increase of Li concentration, the bulk modulus of A1-Li intermetallics decreases in a linear manner.

在南京市郊选择了具有代表性的水田、旱坡地改种蔬菜10年和20年后的田块采集土样,以未改制的水田和旱坡地土样为对照,分析了土壤主要肥力性状的变化.结果表明,水田、旱坡地改种蔬菜后,土壤耕层(0～20 cm)pH有降低的趋势;有机C、全N、NO3--N、全P、有效P、缓效K和有效K等养分含量均有增加趋势,其中旱坡地改制的土壤养分含量的增幅更大一些.水田和旱坡地改种蔬菜后土壤剖面0～70 cm土层中有较多的NO3--N积累.

Electrochemical reduction of acetonitrile（ACN） to ethylamine（ETA） is a new strategy for producing high-value ***,the ultrathin nickel sulfide nanosheets（NixSyNSs） anchored on nickel foam（NF） nanohybrid（NixSyNSs/NF） were designed as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for the waste *** to the introduction of the S element,the ultrathin nanosheet structure,and the three-dimensional architecture,NixSyNSs/NF simultaneously reveals excellent electrocatalytic activity for both electrochemical ACN reduction reaction（EACNRR） at the cathode and electrochemical sulfur ion(S2-) oxidation reaction（ESOR） at the *** the EACNRR,NixSyNSs/NF exhibits a Faradaic efficiency of 95.5% and the ETA yield of 923.1 mmol h-1g-1at-0.05 V *** the ESOR,the S2-ion is oxidized to the value-added S8product,in which the oxidation potential is only 0.16 V at 50 ma ***,the assembled NixSyNS s/NF||NixSyNSs/NF electrolytic cell is successfully established for the ESOR-assisted EACNRR system that only needs a cell voltage of 0.32 V to reach the 50 ma cm-2current *** work provides an effective and energy-saving strategy for the co-production of value-added chemicals from pollutants.

溶解性有机物(DOM)是解析农村黑臭水体理化性质的关键因子。该研究以岳阳市污染源类型涵盖生活源与混合源的29条农村黑臭水体为研究对象,借助三维荧光-平行因子分析(EEM-PARAFAC)技术解析了水体DOM的荧光特征,分析了水体特性与DOM荧光特征的相关性。结果表明:生活源样本水体中溶解氧(DO)浓度为黑臭值(<2 mg·L^(-1))的比例为38.5%,高于混合源样本水体,样本水体氨氮(NH_(3)-N)浓度均为非黑臭值(<15 mg·L^(-1)),总有机碳(TOC)与总磷(TP)浓度分别为5~15与0~2 mg·L^(-1);样本水体DOM具有较强的自生源特征,自生源指数、荧光指数和腐殖化指数平均值分别为0.80、2.26和4.39;水体DOM主要包含陆源类腐殖质、微生物活动相关的类腐殖质以及类蛋白质组分;类蛋白质组分C3的荧光强度和荧光总强度可分别对生活源样本水体中NH_(3)-N和TP浓度变化情况进行预测。
